Try get that obedience with positive only training 😂 Thumbs up to the shield k9 crew 👍 i would love to have that obedience with my dog when he is an adult dog 🤘
To Theo’s handler, excellent job!! To Theo, Watching you walk, it’s no surprise why German Shepards are my favorite breed. Looking all handsome, walking with such grace and pride. That’s what I call a winner.
He saved me the other day. I really believe if I didn't have him in my vehicle, things could have been bad. Was approached by a man and a other waiting in a car in Detroit
I trained my dog with you guys last year, and it worked out great, but I definitely need to get him on a refresher course for heel walking and some other things. Would love to get him on the level of Theo with the "fus" (spelling?) command,
I would not consider that heavy distraction. There is plenty of space, I saw no other dogs close, no bikes / scooters, noone was running / moving erratically. But for the conditions he was in, he did well.
The German shepherd I used have she would be on my right side when I was walking her with me and when I would sit down some place she would be sitting right in front of me and she always be watching what was going on round us
That’s funny Has - You said Theo was sold , going to South America - then I read on your web-site Theo is going to Texas in the USA !!! I can understand the confusión !!!
Thanks for sharing this with us! Did you correct him with repeating the command (heel) + e-collar? Without using negative marker and than "heel" + e-collar?
Do you use a punishment marker when providing a correction? I know your verbals are subtle, which I love lol I didn't hear a "no" i did hear an "oops" 🤔 totally just curious if you just train non-verbal for corrections and it's clear for them?
Hey, just out of curiosity: can you show some examples of this kind of control in really crowded urban areas where other dogs or cats etc. can be encountered? In that kind of "real distractions" lets say, how would the dog would behave? I live in such a place with my working line gsd, with tons of uncontrolled interactions that you can't avoid sometimes. Would it be too much for the dog to establish that kind of control?
Good catch. There are levels to distractions. I’ve found that older dogs of this gsd caliber could succeed in a more intense environment, but it takes A LOT OF WORK!!!
Depends on the breed, but with the right training dogs can be taught to be non reactive and go off their owners behavior; ie they see a cat but the owner doesn’t react so the dog doesn’t react.
Is it a good idea to have a dog with such a dark coat in such a bright/hot climate such as South Africa, especially a working dog, easily over heated, won’t it affect its ability to work for extended periods of time?
Unfortunately, most dogs trained in bite work are in a legal gray area when it comes to service work. I had the same thought initially but if you look into the regulations it’s not considered legal and a big liability to have a protection dog as a service dog.
Hi Haz my copy of no nonsense dog training just arrived in the mail from lulu press so far like how easy to read it is and you’re straight forward. I’m interested to get your take on the malinois Rottweiler cross I’ve been seeing them pop up more and more. Thanks in advance. Currently I’m trying to get my chief to allow us/ me to be K9 and hopefully we can get a dog from your team
Absolutely gorgeous German Shepherd. I will admit I'd like to see a little bit less angulation in the croup and longer legs to support their large frame. To be frank I really wish they would outcross some of the working line German Shepherds with Malinois or another similar breed and then breed back. Not the build of the Malinois, still slightly longer than tall, still with the larger chest, more muscle and bone. But, I've seen some working lines that are taller and have longer legs and I think it's supports their frame better, and looks more balanced.
I like your comment on conformation. Not too many people look for that. I actually have a malinois that has these features, which is often mistaken as a gsd. I was looking for that gsd look, but found it in a malinois.:-)
@@Jan-sb2ql that’s not a puppy.. that dog is probably close to 2 years old if not two. Most trainers charge around $100 for a training session. Now add up all those training sessions they did with this dog.. let’s say an hour a day.. 7 days a week times a year.. then times that by 2 years. That’s why professionally trained protection dogs go for that much.. you are paying for all that expert training time. There are people with that money that will pay.. that’s why they are all priced around the same amount.
Agree 100%. I am choosing to do the work myself with my family dog and I think $40k is too little at the end of 2 years. The fact is that most people don’t have the time so they pay for someone else to train their dog…hence $40k protection dog. That’s practical and logical.
Helloo sir, a question for you, if anybody( any handler) can handle a trained dog, arent there risks of dogs being stolen? how can a personal protection dog be a personal not anybodys dog? help me understand sir.
Please dont take this the wrong way, does a 40k dog need an ecollar on whenever in public genuine question, I know with my own hunting dogs how attentive they are wearing an ecollar, Im just trying to see 40k.
I think you missed the whole protection part :) This dog wil rip your arm to pieces, but will also let go when he tells him to. What I do agree on. Is that Theo doesnt look too well on the "down" you see he's anticipating a stim.
@@MrRizikoo Ive had 60 rs of hard core dogs I fully understand intent, commitment and gameness in dogs, to a dog we humans are like butter and very weak in a fight situation my own dogs are too powerful and game to go down this path, a fully committed gamedog cannot be called out Ecollar or not, to do so breaks their deep gameness, in a dog its a fine line mentally between quitting and conforming, Ive been around protection dogs but not hands on involved Im not trying to be negative just interested in what you guys do, I just have a concern with a 40k dog needing an E-collar to be reliable in public you don't see police or military dogs wearing them in public Im trying to see were it changes with a dog of this price, I thought the body language of the dog screamed Ecollar, and Im not against Ecollars I use them all the time, 40k is a lot of money is it common for this price tag dog to need an Ecollar in public?
Help me understand why the terms "foose", and "platz" (sp?) are so commonly used. I'm not complaining, understand.... I just have thus far been unsuccessful in finding the answer to that question.
What a load of BS. First, he keeps the dog up against a wall (on the right) to limit field of view. Then instead of walking down the middle or on the side where there are actually people he puts the dog in 'stay' where there is no activity. I'd even be willing to bet the man and child (one distraction) was staged. It looks to me like that dog isn't trained AT ALL beyond the most basic commands. I'd trust these trainers as far as I could throw the strip mall.
For 40k he'd be making my coffee aswell
Try get that obedience with positive only training 😂

100% on point regarding Starbucks 😂
I like the iced, but the hot is awful
Great looking K9!
Definitely executive level protection. That dog is scoping out the area like he has a suit and tie and he is protecting a VIP 😎👍
Very beautiful dog
much respect to theo and his trainers!

Excellent work with the dog.. Very impressive specially in how relaxed Theo is but also his alertness to your direction. Great work
The dog looks fantastic! And also now I have an intense desire to go shopping.😄
The man knows dog training, and he knows coffee. Starbucks does suck!
LOL I was going to say the same thing. hahaha Starbucks does suck.
Great work Theo!!.
Congrats to your new owners 🎉
Well done Theo. Good luck for your future. Hopefully he’s checked on with the new owner. ❤
Did anyone else notice Theo blowing the coat on his stomach area?? I want to pull those tufts out so bad lol. So satisfying!
I can't imagine having such dog indoor with all the hair all year

Wow he looks awesome. Someone is going to get a great dog for sure.
Brilliant!
What a beautiful dog, fantastically trained. I bet his protection is great too, knowing you guys.
German Shepherds are king!
Wow!
If only I could train my Shepherd to be like this.
Very inspirational.

I've walked my dog while eating a cup of noodles with chopsticks lol. Yes, in a busy area. Guess he's well trained could have fooled me. 😂
Are you guys traveling to South America train the buyers?
This is adorable. 😊 I can’t wait until I can do a coffee test with my puppy when she’s older 😇
maybe a test with two little poodles barking???😜
Only thing wrong on this video is the ... coffee lol need to find a place to do the test but with good quality coffee
Amazing
40,000 dollars 😮
I might be coming to you next year with 40k for an executive protection ALL BLACK German shepherd. Plan on having 3 protection dogs

I agree they use robusta bean as to arabica beans. I go to as Turkish place best Turkish coffee u ever had then again is stronger then an espresso.

Could your protection dogs pass as service dogs as well for people with ptsd / anxiety (giving the handler space for example)
Unfortunately, most dogs trained in bite work are in a legal gray area when it comes to service work. I had the same thought initially but if you look into the regulations it’s not considered legal and a big liability to have a protection dog as a service dog.
