When you talked about SS03 Scab, you could’ve mentioned the Crust punk subculture, as the patching style is taken directly from how crustpunks used to customize their clothing

to newer viewers, in SS03 Scab Jun references a band called Sedition's and their LP "Earth-beat". The cover of the LP can be seen as graphics across the models and accessories. It's also important to note that the LP used tribal music in their music, Jun also references this with tribal motifs through the collection such as beads and arm rings accessories.

I love this video theres a lot of good points made
recently i've gotten solid blazer piece from the ss13 menswear "talking heads" collection and I just wanna say how much i love jun on the way he wants to both pay homage and explore the ideas he gets from bands and music communities. I'm aware talking heads isn't necessarily punk but its still one of the few bands he specifically chooses to become a base of his collections and the motifs and styling he had in the ss13 collection is so noteworthy like its clear how dedicated and true he is towards the point of reference
also his recent "glass beams" collection is truly beautiful and similarly consistent with the reference point, its been in my mind for a long time
    again great video♥

Punk rock is a way of life it's not a fashion statement though a lot of people taking Punk and turned it into fashion just like skinheads and rude boys and all the other movements people have made profit from Britain turn into a fashion that's life I guess....

Good video Karsten! I was wondering, did Jun Takahashi ever ask permission for any of the collections? I was thinking of picking up a shirt from his Neu! collection but I would feel pretty guilty if Jun never paid Neu! in the first place.

Richard Hell and the Voidoids The Blank Generation was used by Undercover. Also when Richard Hell was the front man of the Heartbreakers had a photoshoot with a bloodshot shirt that influences Hedi Slimane for his bloodwound shirts in the Boys Dont Cry SS2002 Collection. And RIchard Hell also influenced the punk style of the Sex Pistols because Malcolm McLaren saw Richard Hell in New York and was heavily inspired by his style and took it back to the UK to create the punk style in the UK and used it for the Sex Pistols style.

About straight up music references Takahashi made, there’s Undercover/Talking Heads pieces with graphics from their lyrics and albums (although they’re new wave they do integrate punk elements in their music and it can clearly be seen in the collection)
    Great video though!

Tom Verlaine wrote and sang every song on Adventure except for one which he co-wrote with Richard Hell. And they aren't a punk band by any stretch of the imagination. They are a rock band.
