- Hello, my name is Ellie Griffin. I have been exploring and using the acrylic fluid art technique for the past few years. I particularly love the Dutch pour technique which was introduced by Rinske Douna @RinskeDouna. Her art is amazing!! I love to modify the Dutch pour by doing finger swipes to this technique which is known as a Botanical Dutch pour. This technique originated by Tina inspired Art @TinasInspiredArt. Check it out as it certainly lives up to its name for a botanical feel to the Dutch Pour, just beautiful!
I also enjoy discovering other fluid art methods to create beautiful paintings.
This video is a tutorial on how I mix my paints to create beautiful Dutch pours.
Most of my paints are acrylic Global paints. This is a brand that is Australian made and easily accessible in most art stores.
Base colour mixed is custom-made using Global paints. In this video I mixed a base colour using Global impasto Periwinkle colour and added smidge of yellow, red and blue to create a beige colour.
Base colours also has Australian Floetrol added approximately 50%
Three top colours were mixed:
1. Turquoise (Global impasto)
2. Cool blue mixed with metallic Pearl white (both Global impasto)
3. Iridescent Gold (Pebeo Studio acrylics)
Top colours have all had water added to bring to a fluid Dutch pour consistency.

I ❤ mixing day ! 😂 I think I have more fun playing and making new shades, it’s just so relaxing and creative 😊
Very grateful thank you 😊
LOVE that base color-a crisp, modern neutral! Also one of the best articulations of consistency I’ve come across-your description of the full “life cycle” of drizzle-to-cup finally made it click for me! Thank you so much!
Wonderful video.
Thank you so much for this: I had a complete dutch pour disaster this week. You inspire me to try again! 😃
That’s great. I have many disasters so don’t give up. 😁
I wish we could get the Global paints here in the UK. I love the variety of colours too.
Thank you, I have just found you on YT. So great to have finally found an aussie that does Dutch pours. Your explanations were fantastic… now to binge on your other videos 😊
That’s awesome. I hope you enjoy the others.
Really helpful, thank you ❤
Thank you i😊
You should have used brown and white and a dull yellow. You get beige. 😊
Ellie, THANKYOU so much, you explanations were clear and so easy. Great video 👏👏👏👏🇦🇺
Thank you I’m glad you liked it. 😊
Thank you so much for your honest and detailed instructions for us mum's just trying to find some creative outlet. Can't wait to try it this weekend ❤
Enjoy the process. 😊
Such a great tutorial Ellie! Global paints are def harder for us to get here in the states but I love the ones I have! Dark Sea is just the most beautiful color! 🤗💕
Yes I love that colour as well and have added the pearl metallic to it to get some shimmer.
I'm loving your explanations. And I saw a little wooden spoon. Where would I purchase those in the US?
Thank you so much! This was very helpful!
That was helpful, thanks. I have 4 tubs of global paint. So cheap compared to other brands & the colours are beautiful.
Thanks 😊
Hi Ellie, it is great video! I am very happy to see you use the AU Global paints and Floetrol for your Dutch pour. I just watched your feather creation with the beautiful magenta base and gold enhancement and I love that. ❤Could you please advise me about the paint consistency used with “Rinske” botanical technique. Thanks, Suzanne from the Gold Coast
@@suzannetoth5530 Thanks Suzanne. I use the same consistency as the Dutch pour but the brush and canvas is also wet. Hope that helps.
@@elliegriffin3590 Thank you Ellie for the advice and the inspiration 🩷
Very interesting that you only use Floetrol in the base paint and not the colours. Is there a reason for this? (Sorry if you have said so and I missed it). Love you artwork by the way! Just found you!
Thanks. I use the floetrol more as a paint extender and conditioner as that’s what it is really made for. If I put it in the top colours I would get too many cells. Hope that makes sense. 😁
@@elliegriffin3590 Thanks Ellie. I am in the UK. Our Floetrol doesn’t create cells but it is very expensive and dulls the colours so if I add it it is just a splash. I do l like a splash of Liquitex pouring medium in the mix though as is makes the colours shine I find. Do you ever get bleeding by just using water?
I don’t ever get bleeding with a Dutch pour. I’m yet to find a pouring medium that I’m happy with so water gives me the best result.
@@elliegriffin3590 Thank you. Me too. I use acrylic binder and water generally as it is archivable and keeps colours vibrant. I find it hard getting the paints as thin as I would like. Love your pieces 💜
Just a quick question… would you add more water to the blue or is that close enough??
I would add just a drop as it’s a small quantity.😊
Thank you so much for this video. Amsterdam paint 500ml is 11 euro here in the Netherlands, is 17,93 Australische dollar
Thank you for that information wow I think I need to make a trip to the Netherlands to pick up some paint 🤣
@@elliegriffin3590 you’re welkom. Haha a trip to the Netherlands for paint, it’s a nice excuse for a holiday 😀
