My one problem with the 787 is that the crew can control the windows. I detest people that pick the window seat only for them to go to sleep or look at the IFE screen all flight. The large windows on the 787 are brilliant for views, but if the crew control them you can't see.
Well they control it especially on long distance flights for passengers to get used to and adapt to the time difference of the destination the aircraft is flying to. For example if you fly Ethiopian Airlines from Toronto to Addis Ababa which is a 7 hour time difference and a 13 hours flight, they fully dim the windows of the aircraft when flying over the Atlantic Ocean because in Addis Ababa it is currently night time even though it is daytime where the aircraft is. It actually help most passengers adapt and get used to Time Change. That’s why I always enjoy flying the 787 from Toronto to Addis cause I don’t get tired when I get of the plane and sleep when everyone else in the city sleeps, while when I fly the 777 I feel so tired and jet lagged.
VeniVidiAjax No you can’t. On most flights it is locked and if the flight attendants dim the lights you can’t un dim them because it will disturb the rest of other passengers. I know on some flights you can undim it after the flight attendant has set the dim on. But on the flights I’ve been on, especially with Ethiopian Airlines with whom I’ve flown their 787 multiple times can’t be undimmed if a flight attendant controls the windows on long haul flights. I’ve tried it my self, didn’t work.

@@Hercegovac.1 If I remembered correctly 737 max's issue was mainly because of electronics? Sadly it looks like modern electronics are mostly not made with supreme quality. Like on my car, the only issues it ever ran into are all 'electronics' ones... Like the sensors and the infotainment/safety OS, etc.
