I gotta say, your videos are awesome! You do a good job on cinematography(trying to sound smart), and explaining as you go. Your a good teacher! With that, I have a request buddy...can you do a video on CF Shoeboard? Explaining as you go...? There are a very few UA-cam videos on actual mods pertaining to the Shoeboard...plenty of videos on "modifications" but nothing on how a farrier actually builds his or her CF Shoeboard. Anyway, I enjoy your videos buddy. Thanks from North Carolina!
Were you thinking about the modifications out of handmade shoes or the mods from kegs? For taking the test, doing the mods on kegs is open to less interpretation or opinion compared to where a handmade may have a little issue that causes the shoe to fail that’s unrelated to the modification. It’s been a while since I took the test so I’ll have to get the certification booklet.
Hey Gavine, What nails do you normally punch for? When do you drift as opposed to head stamp? Ive been working on a lot of handmades, and about 50 percent turn out great but the speed isnt there yet. I feel like my lack of confidence in fullering slows me down. Any advice would be awesome. Also any recommendations for continuing education? Love the channel, love the podcast, hope to compete one day. God bless bud
Typically I’ll punch for a city head with fullered shoes but plain stamps will be an E head. Unless it’s specified for a contest. The difference between the two nails isn’t a lot when drifting fullered shoes. The best way to boost your skill level and confidence is just by getting out there and signing up for a contest or clinic. Join your state association, then sign up to go. You’ll meet people there that have the same goals and passion. Even if you don’t win your division your first time doesn’t mean you’re a failure. It’s fuel to push yourself harder for the next time and you’ll know what’s expected in that time frame.
Thanks for the knowledge, and your time! I will for sure be making more time for clinics and competitions in the future. Also congrats on the Fall contest!
Great video, liked the camera angle and your explanation, sharing your knowledge is priceless. Thankyou.
Another excellent video, thank you.
Thanks again! Glad you enjoyed it.
Awesome job buddy

Keg shoes...for the CF. I realize it may not be as "interesting" LOL, but thats what I/we need that are going for our CF.
For sure. I’ll do it in the near future.
