That's really great, I've trying to learn how to sing (hopefully rock style eventually), and most tutors talk about compression but don't explain the mechanics of it. Out of the hundreds of youtube vids I've watched yours is the first one that explains this in such a clear and simple way. Thanks!
In school, we literally had to lie down and take our musical scripts and put them on our stomachs so the choir director could tell us whether or not we were breathing correctly. Despite that, this helped me a lot :). You’re pretty amazing,
That was actually awesome, I already do this naturally, because when you're running and singing *twenty one pilots* at the top of your lungs (I shouldn't, as I'm a voice actor!), you can't breath with your chest. You diaphragm and lungs have to work together, and you also have to manage the pitch and flow of air (for the song and your muscles). I am so awesome :P, I can sing smooth-ly at my top running speed! (minus the vibrations in the voice when your feet are pounding the ground of course). Okay, I will stop bragging now, but, it's just practice, plus re-learning to BREATH CORRECTLY (Diaphragmatic breathing)
Hmm, I'm not sure what you mean by "feel the back" I like to think of this more like a "belt" action (watch my 360 video) rather than a specific spot one. However, how much you will feel it working will depend on how extreme compression you are going for. Hope it makes sense :)

My throat hurts. Any help ?
So when we sing, we feel the back more than the abdominal right?
