curly hair advice from me, a person with a curly mullet - get a leave in conditioner and use way more of it than you think you need. rake it through your hair and scrunch the ends (do this when your hair is dripping wet, I do it while I'm still in the shower). then DO NOT touch it AT ALL until it it 100% DRY. You can air dry or use a diffuser attachment on a blow dryer. a lot of people on the internet will say that you need a bunch of different products and that you need to use them in a specific order and with specific tools, but its really not necessary (especially if you dont plan to grow your hair past your shoulders) + its really overwhelming when you're first learning. just start with a leave in and if you feel you need more then expand.
I found you through kackie and i really enjoy listening to your take on products. I’m getting into more prestige makeup and you and kackie together create a balance necessary to my strategic purchases as I try to ✨simplify✨ my routine and level up my bougieness 😂
As usual, one aspect I so enjoy about your videos is how it feels like hanging with a longtime friend, just riffing and making each other laugh but also getting into the weeds of important things. Makeup isn't even cheap, but struggling to spend 1K... says a lot. So does reaching "the high is in using it" in the process of processing consuming, but then using and enjoying, product. And--it's a small touch (we love the small touch)--your "shrink myself" editing detail SENT ME. lol
Maybe you could do a video where you make a cart and find out how much a full face of your dream products your favorites would cost? Id watch it anyways.
I love many of the one/size products. All of their primers, the powder foundation, brow gel, MASCARA, and even the luminous setting mist they discontinued…. Also the matte spray!
I hate to be this person but, I bought the Glossier sharpener because my old sharpener died a sad death. And it's a stupidly nice sharpener. I'm not saying anyone needs it but dang is it working out well for me.
investing in a bonnet or silk scarf for sleeping might be a good idea. my waves become nonexistent when i sleep without one. +it reduces breakage too. been almost 2 years since i cut my hair n i have no split ends
@@hautemesstom the one i have is from a local estonian company, + it might be a bit thin to be the best for the job. it hasn't broken or anything but it does show quite a bit of wear... then again maybe that's normal for a year and 9 months use? well regardless, i unfortunately don't have any recommendations 4 u :[ good luck with finding something, it's probably a lot easier in america anyway
Oh, and for defining my waves: I really enjoy the L'Oreal El Vive Dream Length Curls Leave-In Cream. It is fairly inexpensive, can be used when hair is wet or dry, and helps add definition to waves or curls.
okay but like I've been rouge for years and then this year i feel like i am just looking for something to buy and i end up being like mehhh but also i feel like after years of experimenting with so much makeup i know what i like now so it would take a LOT for me to be impressed
I definitely feel that I am much pickier these days, but I feel like even things I used to hate would inspire me in some facets, but I have been SO SO uninspired my the makeup releases this year.
My 2c on the hair situ: I’d recommend checking out wavy hair vs curly based on the texture you described. I have wavy hair and it took me way too long to figure out that wavy and curly hair are different (waves are not failed curls!). I love a flaxseed gel and a styling gel. You can make your own flaxseed gel but I use the Jessicurl premade one and I use the Aussie instant freeze gel. Enjoy your hair journey!
from a wavy haired person: I think a sea salt spray might go far! It will add texture and grit. If that's not your thing, the Curlsmith Waves Spray is great, and comes in a mini so you could test it before committing fully.
I LOVE sea salt sprays! I feel like it's not quite long enough to figure out what's going on yet, the new curls just were kinda shocking! But I could definitely see it being a wave when the hair is longer/heavier. We will all know at the same time haha.
I keep thinking I want something new, but I just had to move all my stuff and of course I decluttered before doing that and every time I think about if I want something I think about how much stuff I have and don't use. Just about everything I already have or I just won't use it. What I really need is some friends or somewhere to send makeup I tried once and then realized I didn't like it but unless I have someone to pass it on to I feel the responsibility to keep it until it is gone. What I am coming to realize is that whenever I want something, a lot of times what I really want is to have the habit of using that thing. But finding time for buying a thing is somehow easier than finding the time for using that thing. I want to play with makeup, I want to workout, I want to work on my music, but instead I ended up buying makeup, buying cute workout outfits, shopping for recording stuff and instruments, and not actually taking the time for the hobbies I actually want. I used to have those as my primary hobbies (at least by how much time I spent) and now my primary hobbies seem to be consuming - consuming content on UA-cam, consuming products I never used to use, consuming time with endless scrolling and shopping. Thank goodness there are creators out here that have a more conscious consumerism message, or I would never have spent the time on introspection. And I love this take on the $1000 challenge!
I own the Tom Ford stick concealer and it's very good, doesn't crease and very good coverage. The best concealer Tom Ford ever launched and I should know, I tried them all. Peau de Pêche was my first Super Loaded Tinted Highlighter, yeah it's pretty but it's not my favourite, current favourites are Peau de Peony (website exclusive), Peau de Santé (website exclusive) and Peau de Rosé followed by Peau de Pêche and Peau de Soleil that I have to very light handed applying it because it's a bit too dark because we're more or less the same shade. I already tried the Westman Atelier concealer, beautiful product and perfect for more mature skin (I'm much older than you so it's more important for me probably than you) and it barely creases, I don't need to powder. It's also perfect for spot concealer if you're in the mood for no foundation and just a pit of concealer and powder, it's great for that. I'll wait for your opinion on the VB concealer when you make a video on it and I get it (probably next week).
We have to go back for Lauren!!!! Turn this ship around!!!!! What a great video, I DID have fun!!!. Well, the thing about Fresco, she's on the Lauren site, and although the shade is a very delicate toasted neutral bronzey-type....she's got some...sparse flecks of silver sparkle, not at all like the even coat/distribution of shimmer in the shimmer shades like Peach and Sangria.....but I still like her!
For curly/wavy hair there are subreddits that can help but can also be overwhelming. My favorite line is Curlsmith. They have a new lightweight formula. Also, their cream lines are incredible. I love the Feather-light protein cream as it keeps the hair looking soft and natural but defined. Bonus points is that almost all Curlsmith products go half off during the big Ulta and Sephora sales.
@hautemesstom when my hair is short, I finger-rake my hair and then scrunch it. The important part is to avoid touching it while it dries. Enjoy your curls and good luck on your journey!
I’m not 100% sure but I think they made a new shade in the original lipstick formula (called Ginger? or something) to match beverly hills and were sort of re-marketing beverly hills along with the new lipstick shade
I have curly hair. After I wash it I put an air dry cream in it, scrunch it, and let it dry on its own. In the morning I revive my curls by resetting my hair and scrunching again.
WAIT HOLD UP Fresco is the special one - not Chai! I waxed poetic about Chai a couple days ago, but Fresco is that girl. I think I just assumed that you simply must have been referring to my favorite shade and therefore just assumed it was Chai. But nope just verified in my drawer that it’s fresco that has that lovely cool-ish sheen with a warmer base.
I wonder why it's not on Sephora! For anyone worried, they do still sell this shade on their site. They most only sell the most popular shades to retailers! I don't think Fresco is at Ulta either.
I’ve grown out curly hair before from short- at this stage all you’d need is a spray bottle with water to wet the hair, (forgive this phrase but) cup and squeeze to form your curls, then when it’s like 70% air dried add product like a style/texture/frizz taming paste more on the ends to hold the shape
Living for the chaos 🖤 Peau de Pesche WA superloaded highlight is gorgeous. But it started smelling like old crayons/weird oil a few months later. Bought another one and it started smelling funky within like one month. But I still stand by my boycott - those dam*ed refills. That's all I ask 🤬
@@hautemesstom I have a feeling it had everything to do with timing of my purchase, since I bought them both from Sephora. But since I'm acne-prone, I wasn't willing to risk using them once the smell became apparent. But, I genuinely loved using it as a combo blush, bronze, highlight. Even though I'm pale af, it worked since it's multidimensional. Just my two cents 😉
Your better than me I'm interested in so little right now but I'd have that cart full in seconds just because. Even in Canada where we have less brands.
I also think the says something to do about just how bad Sephora has gotten lately at their website and app are garbage and not having anything in stock that is good.
I could easily do this at Liberty, Harrods or Look Fantastic.. NOT Sephora. Our Sephora didn't give us any rewards or discounts and hardly have any products, not compared to France or USA... 😞💜 🇬🇧
