Thank you for sharing I look forward every week for time after my shower laying in bed watching you two and listening to your soft relaxing voice ending my week Thanks again you don't know how much this helps
I continue to be impressed by you two. You are prodigious workers! You got more done in three months on your boat than I got done in a couple of years on mine!
Maya, this wonderful episode is particularly beautifully done. It shows so clearly the effort, the design and construction talent, and the emotional strength you two have brought to this project. Add in Covid, travel, worry, costs, disappointments, and so on, and your story becomes even more amazing. Thank you so much for allowing us to peek in. My pitiful monthly contribution is just not adequate for the return you provide. I am doubling my contribution today.
Precisely, I was going to say the same thing and wow that Aladin is pure magic. Oddly I keep having visions of these two making millions designing and building custom kitchens in the Rocky Mountain villages of Aspen and Vail.
I started watching your channel just as you began your journey up the rivers and canals in Europe. I just returned from a river cruise down the Rhine. Your comments about sailing that river in a small sailboat were right on! It is NOT a good idea! 90% of ths river was industrial and the industrial and commercial ships were numerous and constant. Thank you for your pioneering efforts. Can't wait til you're sailing again!
Great wrap up video Maya. Now we can all take a break and spend the summer with you two in Europe and some sailing in Scandinavia. Come Fall we'll all be refreshed and raring to go for the next phase of MC 2 restoration.
I, as a builder and owner of 52 f ketch, stumbled on your channel. I'm a old guy, so your idealistic attitude was a little lost on me. I was dubious of almost everything. But then, out of the blue, I discovered Alodino had amazing boat building skills, he was a boat builder. And seeing you both grow and understand (I'm sure you always have.) the work involved in owning a boat. I now love you both, and I want you to succeed in a big way
As you know, this is a fine offshore boat. And with the work both of you are doing it will be better. Enjoy your time away and be ready to complete more of your beautiful work when you return.
Being deep into the immediate it's easy to forget just how much has been accomplished. It's nice to step back and reflect from time to time. MC II is in great shape for your return.
I’ve been a fan and have watched from the very beginning. All of your videos are beautifully done and so meticulous. The transformation of MC2 is already amazing and when you are finished and sailing will be the envy of many.
Perfect wrap up video for this stage of the refit. It must be so gratifying for you to see your hard work coming together. The boat keeps looking more and more beautiful.
Well I am a bit disappointed! Do you mean to tell me I watched through every single update, week after week, every Friday evening when I could have just waited for this single 17 minute episode! Wow! Just kidding, of course 😄 It has been a privilege to watch your determined, skilled and sometimes emotional effort to pull off the near impossible. This was a great episode to watch. I trust that, by now, you are somewhere in Europe sailing and enjoying the breeze on your other first love Magic Carpet #1. Thank you so much.
Been watching you guys for years! Amazing work. Can't wait to see you sail this beautiful work of art across our planet. Keep up the journey! Really inspiring. I find your videos entertaining and very educational. Keep the videos coming.
Lovely to see such a well made video on an excellently part-reconstructed boat. It's so nice that Maya's parents could visit and help out, precious memories indeed. The choices of a wide range of music seems to give it a filmic quality.
Wow, When you started this refit I didn't think it needed that much of a restoration. Wow was I ever wrong on that estimate. You've done an incredible amount of work on this boat at least when its all refitted you'll be both very confident in this boat. You'll both be assured that you have very good blue water sailor on your hands, basically you'll both have a brand new boat that you will both be able to enjoy for a very long long time. Maya you sure do a wonderful job in editing these videos you surely have a gift in producing these videos and your narration is done very very well. This video in particular is top notch, in my eyes it's done to perfection. Keep up the good work Maya, between you an Aladino wow you both do tremendous work.
Little by little, MCII is getting closer to the ocean, thanks to your hard and meticulous work. This episode is a great wrap up. Enjoy your sailing around Scandinavia.I hope the weather is great for sailing. Now waiting for the next chapter of your videos.
Hi to you both, having watched all of your videos I can say that I have enjoyed them very much.the projects have been entertaining and educational to follow,i think that with Aladino being a boat builder he is always going to make the correct decision you have both put a lot of effort into it and deserve the rewards.Thank you both very much,Roly 🇬🇧
I felt your pain when you uncovered more mold. I'm glad you had had plenty of practice with how to remove it and protect MCII for all the future sailing ahead.
I know we're not in real time over here on the UA-cam side of the project, but I hope you both have a great summer finishing the retrofit on Magic Carpet I and sailing where ever the boat, tide, and weather will take you in the time you have left before you head back to Washington to resume work on Magic Carpet II. I absolutely love following this project. Thank you for sharing it with us all!
We enjoyed the road trip video very much. We are returning from a long road trip ourselves, and enjoyed it very much. Looking forward to following you in Scandinavia. Press on!
Thanks for another great episode, showing the progress on Magic Carpet II. As always I really enjoy watching all your episodes. Take Care , both of you.
Beautiful episode! You are such a gifted storyteller. It's so impressive how much you've gotten done together in the past three months. You can start to see some of the beauty reappearing in the boat. Hope you have a safe and easy trip to Europe and a wonderful summer. 💕
Alandino, you are a master in your craft! I love the details and time you take to make something just right! You both show so much love for Magic Carpet II and for each other! it's great to see. Maya, I love the filming, editing and narration that you do, and bringing us along in your wonderful story telling. I also love the episodes where we get to hear your Mastery of Craft in Music! There are times I just sit back, and let you take me away in your music from your heart! Thank you both for doing what you do and brining me along!
Seeing the compilation of all the hard work and how beautiful you both have made magic carpet two.. Restoring Magic Carpet 2 has been a joy to watch an excited for future...
Always good to see what is going on Maya....You must be on the Sea by now and in the middle of a Heat wave.......Enjoy your Summer both of you... :-))) xxxxx
Wow, great summary. In retrospect, you are showing us how to build/rebuild this sailboat. Unfortunately, most viewers do not appreciate the visa/travel hassles you face. At one time I lived in Point Robert’s (USA) and worked at UBC (CAN) everyday. Thx again.
This is a good summation of all you both have done! When you look at it everyday its hard to see all the progress made. Great episode! Your getting closer to splash day with each job accomplished. Enjoy europe!
Congratulations guys! An awesome effort over the last three months. Seeing a summary reminds me how hard you have both worked to achieve a fantastic result. Looking forward to seeing you relax and do a bit of sailing to recharge your batteries. Cheers from Newcastle Australia.
Congratulations on the progress you've made. It's good to take some time away to recharge, you guys have definitely earned it. I'm sure you'll be ready to give it your all in the fall when you return. Good luck and happy sailing.
@@SailingMagicCarpet I'm looking forward to some sailing vlogs on Magic Carpet 1, and I know you'll have to do a little work on her first, but hopefully that won't be too extensive and you guys can get back on the water.
Great to see a summary of the progress, it's really coming along. I wondered if you knew roughly how many times you've been up and down those ladders to get in /out of the boat... you've probably climbed a mountain by now!
Watched this episode a few times, its excellent and cheered me up as it made me realise that the few jobs i have to do are nothing compared to the MEGGA megga rebuild you're faced with. Your blogs are superb plus they're all about the boat unlike many sailing blogs where the boat is a secondry thought.
It's been a joy watching you two doing this over the past year. I have a statistical question: how many kilograms of epoxy have gone into Magic Carpet II? Did you keep track?
Thanks for sharing. Very curious where you are sailing (hopefully) in Europe now. 😀 Oh, missed it. You are already in Denmark. I sailed along Warns through Friesland 24th and 29th of June and will go from Vlieland to Brunsbuttel this Sunday.
Hello, Nice work and compliments! For the work and nice video’s. We where on the island Fur (Denmark) the day before yesterday, and saw you guys with the old boat, probebly on a well deserved brake/ holliday. I am sailing for 7 weeks with mij wife and three childeren on a 36 foot Beneteau Evasion 34. We die not have the change to say hello. Good holliday and congrets on the work and results. We are from the Netherlands sailing around Denmark and Zweden. (Noordzee and Oostzee).
Glad to hear you will be spending the summer in scandi waters! Any chance you will be up in the Stockholm archipelago? Me and my partner have been dreaming of switching to a Vindö 32 (or 40) of our own. Needless is to say I really appreciate the vids with MC1 :-)
Great video as always. Have you talked to Dan and Kika from Sailing Uma? I believe there may be a way to extend your stay based on the fact that you are making a You Tube Living. Also, with regard to your lighting. Many LED lights can be different colors as well as white. This may be helpful to have red lights near your exit to the deck on night passages.
You are doing such a good job. Armourflex would be so much easier now and better fitting. Extra cost I understand. Maya do you know Patrick McAvinue a friend of myself and wife?
Great episode chronicling the ups and downs of sailboat maintenance and refits! This series does a great job at showing the less romantic side of sail-cruising in a way that I haven't found really anywhere else. To modify an Abraham Lincoln quote, "I have heard many a sailor extol the virtues of wooden boats, but very few who wish to maintain one". Great episode as always! Safe travels in Eurpoe , -J Also question: Where do you guys get all the background music from? Is it from a library, or do you guys know people from / work at a record label or recording studio? Just wondering .
I'm new to your channel , your craftsmanship looks top notch . I have a question : Why was it necessary to laminate more fiberglass to the inside of the hull ? Was the boats hull compromised or damaged ?
The hull is 1” hand laid fiberglass and as good as day 1 -45 years ago… The glass we are adding is to cover the insulation to have a smooth, waterproof and strong surface
I really enjoy your videos and enthusiasm but it seems to me that for whatever you paid all you got was the hull shape. I can't see how anyone would want to purchase an old Cape George after seeing all the rot and poor workmanship that went into constructing your boat.
They are one of the prettiest hulls out there! And there is some variations in quality with the owner completed boats. The yard’s work though is top notch! And de faults that come to light now after 45 years are rather a reflection of how the boat was stored and maintained.
Sailing around the world as slowly as possible. Beautiful.
Thank you for sharing I look forward every week for time after my shower laying in bed watching you two and listening to your soft relaxing voice ending my week
Thanks again you don't know how much this helps
ALADINO'S IS SO VERY TALENTED HIS WORK IS AMAZING
I continue to be impressed by you two. You are prodigious workers! You got more done in three months on your boat than I got done in a couple of years on mine!
Thanks Eric, that’s very kind of you. We were lucky that we could work full time on the boat though!
Oh guys you’re the best team ! Well done overcoming challenges and sharing the ups and downs… it’s so much more real to watch 🙏🏽
Maya, this wonderful episode is particularly beautifully done. It shows so clearly the effort, the design and construction talent, and the emotional strength you two have brought to this project. You both have done an incredible job. Emotionally, spiritually and mentally.

Glad you had an excellent road trip!! Thank you for the comment!
I love the intro so much. Orion Nebula is my favorite nebula.
She is going to be a much more beautiful and seaworthy boat than she was even when she was first constructed. Excellent work and a joy to watch!
Agree. Better than the original boat.
We hope so! Thank you for the comment :)

Yes, and Maya is mastering the techniques of video production, including the use of background music with a high level of expertise.
Two boats, two continents. Great stories :)
This episode was very much needed. A great history sum-up! Now i feel like being more up to speed again.

Great job, hardly wait to see her sailing.

And no I’m not counting but my approach is putting back in what I’m taking out. So we are very much in the same ballpark as original.
a hell of a lot of work done in 3 months well done 💪 credit to you guys

Me too exhausted. Let's go Europe and sailing Scandinavia to recharge batteries. Brilliant workmanship and excellent production..
When you sail around Scandinavia, will you put a bar code on your boat? So you can “Scan da navy in?”
Meticulous beautiful work.
I love watching these episodes 😎
