Why does DDO put fortung A in fonetisk transcription of words like ret, retning, tretten or træt instead of bagtung A as it is normally pronounced? Jeg kan ikke sove i natten.
@@filgos6115 I don"t think it's that simple. The 'e' in 'ret' is neither the front /a/ nor the back /ɑ/ in the strictest sense. You need to use special diacritic marks to show the more "narrow" transcription instead of the general "broad" one to be more precise, which would be very confusing for someone who never studied phonetics. The Danish /ɑ/ is usually centralized to [ɑ̈]. The centralization is represented by the "double dots" above a vowel symbol, and the difference between centralized vowels such as "ä ~ɑ̈" is quite hard to discern. It took me a very long time to realize that the Danish /ɔ/ is in fact very different from the English ɔ/, for example.

So, shouldn't LEGO be pronounced like " "laio". It has the diphtongue "eg" and this makes an "ai" sound
