I guess each played in their local marching band in Austria. There is a huge tradition in Austria and nearly every village has its own band. Thats where you learn the basics of marching and and playing and afterwards in the army as well.
Now now....BD could do a good job with a Mnozil show (although the Mnozil chart "Blue" seems a better fit for Spirit of Atlanta). The drill here wasn't too bad, actually.

"They should be musicians" That's a very limiting thought, as a musician you should just play your music? Watch their documentary, they encourage anyone not to just play the notes, but to have fun and tell a story. Musicians are too often focused on the notes and forget to tell a story. They are not only world class musicians, they are also performers and entertainers. That's why they tour the world in fully booked concert halls and that's why I can't wait till I finally will be able to see them live in April.
