also, for people who don't like the bleach smell that won't go away after they bleach their denim: soak it in peroxide. it neutralizes the smell for the most part and is super cheap. =)
Hey! I know this is from a long time ago but i just wanted to say thank you 🥺🥺 this worked like a charm! I accidentally bought a dark denim from online and i bleached and followed all the instructions here in this vid and my jacket came out perfect. Thank you will def do some jeans next time ❤️✨ For anyone who wonders: i used oxygen based bleach so its not that strong and i only left it on the bucket for an hour, the measurement i use for the bleach was just two small cups in a bucketful of warm water, good luck! 🥰🥰
That bucket holds up to 3 gallons of water and she used about 3-4 cups of bleach. If you make the math depending on your bucket size, you’ll be able to do right ig :)
she used 1/4 bottle in a bucket of water. the measurement isnt critical. you can control the bleaching effect by how long you leave the denim in the bleach.
Of all the videos I found this one was by far the best. I'm going to try it tomorrow on a jacket I got from Levi's. The darker jacket was like 80 percent off (I got it for about 25 bucks) compared to the same jacket that was lighter that was not on sale and was about 150 dollars. If this works it would have saved me a grip of money! Thanks!
thanks for this! recently ordered a denim jacket with intentions it would be oversized and it wasn't, so now I'm going to make it a distressed bleached jacket
so I made a skirt, but I thought the denim was to dark do I bleached it and it was all patchy and parts turned white so I went to buy dye and I meant to dye it only a little, but it turned dark af Fml. that's why I'm here now .-.
Hi, this looks great! I've been meaning to do this to a dark rinse jacket. Instead of putting it in the washing machine after, would it still be OK if I hand-washed it instead?
I did this on a levis jacket and did NOT take into consideration the different quality of denim. So, now, 1 bottle of bleach and 4/5 hours later its just starting to lighten to where I want it lmao
Yours turned out beautifully! I only have one issue, I attempted this with some denim jeans I acquired from the thrift store and I noticed no change in the tone of the jean. Are there any reasons why it wouldnt have worked for me?
I bought a denim jacket online and the colour came darker than I expected. I wanted a lil lighter only. How long would u suggest me to soak it in bleach water? I kinda want a darker colour from yours
sry im late, but ive heard in another video (forgot which one) that it might make the threading a little looser overall making the item slouchier...cuz thats also what i want lmaoo
Great video just a quick question if the jacket I want to bleach already has heavy distressing will it get damaged if I bleach it and put it in the washing machine and dryer after? Thank you for your help!
Is it really work ?? I want to lighten my jean completely pure and unmixed ...not partly lighten ...do know what I mean ? Is it gonna work this way ? ( i'm sorry for my language I can't speak english good enough )
how do I ensure that everything is evenly faded. I tried it with one pair of jeans but it ended up having a flowery pattern from the bleach of different shades of denim
fill your bathtub with around 5 inches of water and then like 3-4 cups of bleach, dampen the jeans first with cold water and then lay them as straight as possible in the bathtub, check after 30 minutes if it's the color you wanted and if not leave it for longer, don't leave it for more than 8 hours, if after 8 hours it's not where you want it to be take it out, wash it without detergent and try again the next day
I did this to my clothes when I was a teenager and I often would use too much bleach and it would eat away at the cotton and holes would form over time. Sometimes that looked cool but also kinda looked rubbish.
is there any specific fold u can do to make sure its evenly bleached? cause I'ts still got some dark stains from it's original color and I'm nervous to dip it again
I did the same and when I took it out of the bleach some spots were darker than others and I don't know if washing it would even if, or if the issue is that the excess dye is only in some spots but what do I do to make it even
Worst Of All Time WOAT ok I'm really late and you've probably fixed it by now but I'd suggest dabbing with a sponge some bleach on the darker spots, leave it for a bit then wash it
Hey I watched your video and followed the exact same steps but my jeans turned pinkish orange in some spots after only an hour of bleaching. I don't know why this happened. Do you know why this happened and or how I could fix it?
Claire McMichael To get the blue dye out, you have to bleach it and any underlying tones out. It seems like your denim had pink and orange tones in it under the blue. I'd go in with a spray bottle that's half bleach and half water and spot bleach the pink and orange discoloration, leave it on for like 20-40 minutes, and then wash it.
wash it with a blue cooler two times, it'll get white, think of it as hair, when u bleach it and the undertone gets yellow, you look around for neutralizers
Actual steps start @ 1:30
Jalen Co THANK YOU
Thanks
And doesn't have the exact amount of bleach to water ratio. It's kinda stupid to make a video and never mention the exact amount...
Papa bless 🙏
👍

@larisa victor Oh, dear! If u had taken chemistry in high school, u'd know how carcinogenic (cancer causing) it is.
Stacey Kersting I took chem I didn’t know that. Ik how to draw dots around letters
@@staceykersting705 which one the peroxide or bleach?
It's 1 cup of peroxide with 1 gallon of water. Then let it soak for at least 20 minutes. It'll neutralize the bleaching process, not just the smell.

really wish that this video had exact measurements for the bleach to water ratio.
use hot water . dontforget
It says online
she used 1/4 bottle in a bucket of water. the measurement isnt critical. you can control the bleaching effect by how long you leave the denim in the bleach.
I'm so upset I think I used to much bleach and it turned my jacket white...
Donovan Hem Haha hey match it with a black v neck, black slim jeans and some white sneaks and it'll look pretty sick. Black watch for added bonus
Youll be marshmello
How did u tell that it was done
You can also buy an specific light denim dye and get the exact shade you want it ;)
@@yairmoreno9091 we use bleach, so we dont need to waste another moeby
Thanks! It was really helpful, I bleached my jacket yesterday following your instructions and it turned out great:)

3 more to 900!! AHHH! LOVE THE VIDEO!! THE JACKET IS SO BEAUTIFUL! 💓🙈😍
Now I myself put the bleach in first. This will mix the bleach in well. Thanks for this vid.
the bright of the jacket was so beautiful

Hi, this looks great! I've been meaning to do this to a dark rinse jacket. Instead of putting it in the washing machine after, would it still be OK if I hand-washed it instead?
And also if you aren't doing a complete bleach, for example only doing the seams, it works well with cotton swabs, I think.
This is so cool I have a pair of jean shorts I want to try this on!
I did this on a levis jacket and did NOT take into consideration the different quality of denim. So, now, 1 bottle of bleach and 4/5 hours later its just starting to lighten to where I want it lmao
Obviously Levi's is better quality made for last, but I recommend use Vanish for white clothing bcause bleach make holes in the future
Sort and simple. Very good and helpful video Tiffany :)
we gotta bring this trend back, so fun!
im trying this rightnow.....im so excited
I am bleaching a pair of jeans right now, cool video 👍👍👍

Not chlorine bleach?
I got bleach on my arm trying this lord help me this shit burns
Celeste schoenke lmao

Are you okay now did it bleach your skin?
Definitely trying this!! great video
Awesome! Will this work on a denim shirt that has that smoother material feel?
what are the measurements
for the water and the bleach
blueoctober I did 4 parts water to one part bleach
Which bleaching agent can use
Before doing this I suggest you to try but in small patch of the denim and if it turns yellow then stop but if is light washed continue.
Excellent tutorial. I will give it a go on my denim shirt. Thx for sharing.
I want my jeans super sky light blue!
I guess i'll leave them in the bucket double the time you did. ;)
I bought a denim jacket online and the colour came darker than I expected. I wanted a lil lighter only. How long would u suggest me to soak it in bleach water? I kinda want a darker colour from yours
Love this!! I will deff try out on my jeans!
Can you use any type of bleach? Can I just use the bleach I use to clean my house?
Lil Bilie it should be chlorine based bleach not oxygen bleach
Yes

Will doing this also distress it, like make looser and slouchier and make it a little more vintage looking?

THIS IS SO COOL!
What tips do you have to turn my whole jacket lighter? I followed these steps but I only get bleach patches
I tried this and it worked well for me :)
Is it really work ?? I want to lighten my jean completely pure and unmixed ...not partly lighten ...do know what I mean ? Is it gonna work this way ? ( i'm sorry for my language I can't speak english good enough )
exactly what I was looking for, thank you!!
Couldn't you just throw it in the washing machine and add a little bleach to the wash? Same thing, but saves the mess.
how do I ensure that everything is evenly faded. I tried it with one pair of jeans but it ended up having a flowery pattern from the bleach of different shades of denim

spoilt milk how do I wet it with cold water first ? Is the water from the bathtub supposed to be cold or hot ?

You’re actually a life saver
Thank you so much!
I've been wanting to give this a try and this video got straight to the point.
Excellent.
Luv DIY & this one is great !! By the way what camera are you using image looks great !
+Makeupbella1 Glad you liked it and I use the Canon T6i
+Tiffany Bianca aaah ok no wonder quality is great!
Good work. Good result.
Instead of the bucket can I fill the bathtub and do it there...? I guess yes. Great video.
This was very helpful!
If you have a tub use that and lay the jacket inside of the tub it allows for more surface area so less chance of uneven bleaching
U tried that ? And how did it turn out ?
@@ahmadmaaita4195 that's how I bleach and hand wash all my denim
Hot or cold water? How much do i have to leave it in the water?
This is awesome! must try this too! Thanks for sharing hun!
My denim jacket has fur on the inside so will the bleach change the colour of the fur? The furs white.
would this look good with black denim?
do I have to wash it in a washer or can I wash it by hand
Plain curiosity, is there an alternative than to sticking it into the washing machine?
Hi! I have a denim jacket but it has faux sheepskin for the borg collar... would this be ok with the bleach? Please help asapppp
So how did you make your short whiter? I missed it in your video. Thx
This looks good it has a nice even wash
hey how did you avoid getting dark spots (like tye dyed or dark blotchy looking spots ) on your jacket?
joel553009 the fabric should be completely submerged in the water and always change it's position every 30 minutes or so
does this work on black denim too?
Can you use the solution on another garment, or start with fresh bleach and water?
Can you use it on other fabrics too other than denim
I tried turning some jeans white, and now they're like a sort of pastel yellow color, do you know what I could do to fix that?
torterolion it turns yellow from washing with detergent afterwards and using a hot dryer. You’re supposed to wash no detergent and air dry
is there any specific fold u can do to make sure its evenly bleached? cause I'ts still got some dark stains from it's original color and I'm nervous to dip it again
Is it possible to bleach black jeans into that colour you got in this video?
if I have a denim jacket with fleece on the inside would the bleach ruin the fleece if so what should I do as an alternative?
gonna do it tomorow

How long should you leave it in the wash for?
How did you get the really light shade? I think I missed the instructions for that.
Don't forget glasses too!🤓

Hey I watched your video and followed the exact same steps but my jeans turned pinkish orange in some spots after only an hour of bleaching. I don't know why this happened. Do you know why this happened and or how I could fix it?
Claire McMichael it's probably the fabric the jeans was made of

I bleached mine today but it has unbleached parts
Which bleach did u use ???
Did it smell really bleachy?
I did the exact same thing as you but I got light patches and not a full light wash jacket.
You're supposes to put it in peroxide to neutralize the bleach
Thank you sooooo much I will try it
did it shrink???
Can you bleach the sherpa lined jackets?
I bought a denim jacket but its too dark wanna make it light blue

do you know what bleach to use? can you use non-chlorine bleach?
Can you do it with a sherpa denim?
Powder bleach use kr sakten hai ?
would this work with fur denim jackets?
I'm sure it would bleach the denim part but probably also color the fur.
It seems like 1/4 gallon is an awful lot of bleach unless it's not especially strong?
Very helpful video. Thank you.
How to bay this bleach...?!
I did this and my jacket turned a nasty yellowish color :( any tips?
wash it with a blue cooler two times, it'll get white, think of it as hair, when u bleach it and the undertone gets yellow, you look around for neutralizers
How long It need to soaked?
