      @@iloveanimals5494 Hi! It is a Green-cheeked Conure, and it's hard to tell, but I think it has a color variation like the yellow-sided Green-cheeked Conure, so probably either a pet or feral parrot population because those variations are naturally rare. Hope that helps!

    • @BioBush
      @BioBush  4 роки тому +1

      Haha, good point! Birds in their natural environments don't have the luxury of choosing food sometimes, just eating what is available. The beak trick gives you an idea what they would eat. Chickens have mixed beaks because they eat seeds or bugs as available. But what's that hook on the end for? Do they tear food?

    • @BioBush
      @BioBush  5 років тому

      Good observation! I have never noticed that doves have straight beaks like an insect eater. It's funny, because I think they eat insects rarely, if at all. Doves eat various fruits and seeds. Thanks for doing research to take good care of a bird. You should keep learning!

    What about yellow bird

    • @BioBush
      @BioBush  2 роки тому

      What shape beak does it have? If it's a Canary, then they naturally eat seeds, but a pet bird needs better food than just seeds. There are canary pellets which have balanced nutrition and should be the majority of their diet, supplemented with seeds and fruit/veggies. About 20% of their diet should be fresh fruit and vegetables. I hope that helps!

    Just making some notes here:
    Big straight beaks = for fish
    Small straight beaks = insects
    Hooked = used for tearing things
    Straight beaks = used for catching things
    Hooked beaks belong on eagles, hawks, and owls.
    Hooked beaks are used for grabbing a part of a DEAD animal and tearing off a bite to eat.
    Hooked beaks is used by scavengers, and predatory birds.
    Coned: used for opening seeds / peeling the hard part off of seeds
    Coned beaks are on sparrows and finches.
    Long coned beaks allows for lots of leverage. ( Squeezes hard to crush the food )
    Short coned beaks are for easily crushing the foods.
    Mixed beaks: on parrots and seagulls. Probably has multiple foods in their diet.
    Summary:
    Straight = catch
    Hook = tear
    Cone = open
    Mixed = combo

      What kind of bird is it? If its natural diet would include nuts then *TINY* amounts of peanut butter should be okay. But remember that most peanut butter has added sugar and salt, and lots of fat. So it's not a healthy food. Birds get heart disease too. Hope that helps!
