I'm Greek Orthodox from Scotland, always admired Sr Clare Crockett for her bravery, her humility, her works, her honesty and especially her humour and ability to light up any room she went into. I love her take on the Eucharist, it's not a symbol as protestants say, it IS the body and blood of Christ! ❤
I remember her saying in an interview that when she kissed a Cross in spain when on a visit she was hit by a realisation that we had caused his wounds by our sins and that was when her reversion back to faith began.
It's a mind blowing realisation, the visual representation of it while watching the passion of The Christ always makes me cry knowing it was our sin that did that to Him and the pain He would have been in is heartbreaking 💔
There is a chance to adore the Eucharist like Sr Clare by coming to the procession on 1stt Feb that leaves from Sr Clare's home parish church... id encourage everyone to just come, no excuses
A beautiful church alter rail in St. Peters Church Drogheda. What do they do? They open the gate on it and come out onto the aisle of the church to give out communion. You couldn't make it up.
I Think the,First real encounter of the Eucharistic Jesus for St,Claire was when she kissed his Cross .We need to meditate on his great Love for us through his Crucifixion on the Cross .
Receiving Communion on the tongue is personal, in the hand becomes impersonal. There are a lot of good devout Catholics who are brought up receiving Communion in the hand, they don't know what they're missing, I feel sorry for them.
I even saw a Catholic apologist (voice of reason) saying the only way to receive communion is in the hand, I'm Orthodox and couldn't understand his argument it made no sense and he was saying the church fathers and Orthodox always took it in the hand and any other way was forbidden which is totally false. Love Sr Clare Crockett she is totally right and so are you ❤
Speed of course is not the issue mentioned here but as far as stand/kneel/hand/tongue I think if studied on a level playing field, kneel and tongue win the race. At the OF we have all these Eucharist ministers but my bet is a priest at the altar rail beats the extra help. I do think the common thought would be that the altar rail/ kneeling/ on the tongue is an old fashion hinderance. A burden to be removed even. So bring on the lay ministers to ease this burden. Just like “folks don’t get the Latin” is fallacious so is that kneeling and rising might take up valuable time impinging on the big show. But neither of those are the reality. They are cheap accusation/ defenses, not necessarily malicious but out of touch with reality. We had our Latin/English missals and they were a snap to follow just as they are today. It is fairly linear (my words but maybe that description fits or is used) compared to the OF w 6000 variation and interminable page flipping. Page flipping wasn’t what the Council had in mind for participation. One might think a bunch of lay folks, in line, standing, and in the hand would be faster than in line, 8 kneel, eight on the tongue, then eight more. There are likely folks who have know idea by the 8 then 8. It darn near proves that guys like Cusip and the West Virginia Bp. are clueless. They are cheap defenders of cheap grace and weak selfish egos. Wonder when they kneel at all except to get accolades from Rome… Get this straight : Evangelizing with the same playbook that emptied the pews and far far far far more importantly - emptied the devotion is insanity. We know the definition of insanity right? Kneel to the Lord Jesus Christ, the only way to the Father and the fullness of the Trinity and the Kingdom. Yahweh Sabaoth come, come, come!!!
I suppose I wasn’t very respectful of Cusip or the West Virginia Bp., especially as to their own inclination to kneel or not. My apologies, Robert, your Eminences, and to who ever else might see my lack of charity, including the Father who sees all. Speaking of seeing all, I hope the Lord doesn’t ask me to prophesy naked for three years but I’m sure the powers that be would be more shocked by the truth said to them and about their little kingdoms than any blushing from my physical candor. Thy will be done.
