I really like your channel. You are a very smart man with a great attitude. I have used old chainsaws for many years. Just for cutting my families firewood. I always liked my xl12. A buddy of mine just gave me a pro mac 55 it's a pretty good saw to. I just want to say thank you for your videos. You are great.

Thank you buckin for taking the time to speak to us beginners. I would love to have a crane and a chipper with a 1000$ saw but I took my 50$ found an old mcculloch and got it running and I had never wrenched anything. I was also thinking i wish i had someone to show me how to round file as a beginner.

Enjoyed this video...also "vintage" Buckin as well. :) BTW have a few loops of 1/2 round chain left, sprockets too for those old Homie's and the gear drive sprockets ( stars ) for those who really want to see how our dad's and granddad's did this stuff. Keeping some too for a couple of projects. :) Think some are 78's and some 84 link. Yours if you ever need one. Or two. Those old Homelite's were BUILT strong. And you kicked the bees next on the Green saw for me, ran them with "bow" bars cutting pulp as a kid, have a "line" on four of them now, just haven't bit.

Wow, always good when PSR turns up, i'm not sure what model homey you have there, but I have 2 x 9 -29s with governor's, they run 1/2 " pitch, as found the rakers were 60 thou down 😳 chain was worn out.
Luckily I found an NOS 1/2" chain, Oregon beautiful chrome top chain, they don't make em like they used to, in all ways, not just chain !
Great to see an old vintage legend getting the BBR sharpening, PSR get that 36" on quick time, the GD needs that length I reckon !

Thank you for the insight on the round chain. Gonna try tune up my ripping chain the same way for my milling. I didnt realise that i was probably going to far under the top plate and getting that burr going slowing down my cuts and making the saw work harder and leaving too much raker. Take care and thanks again. Best of the holidays to you and your family.

I file my saws the same I would rather be under it a little more than not enough! I mean either way your chains don’t last forever they are a consumed product yes you always want to get the most out of them because they aren’t getting cheaper. But at some point when cutting a lot of wood it’s just part of the job. But their are some chains that are so good right down to the last file and hate to see them go it’s just part of doing tree work! Love y’all great video Buckin happy holidays to everyone.🍻

Bring a box store husky 455 in build it up to pull a 28”-32” bar. Sounds almost impossible or almost as expensive to just buy a 90cc+ saw but I’m tempted to try it.

The first powersaw I ever ran in the mid 1970's was an old gear drive David Bradley from the 1950's. It wasn't fast, but you could not dog it out. dig the dogs in and give it shot of oil every once in a while. I have no idea if it was 9/16. .404 or what pitch but it was a cutter.

A great saw and with a good chain it will cut better I looked in a skip and found two saws no bars or chains tank had petrol in and oil found a bar and some chain started ok but I put a new plug in and was running half way to be better. But would not tick over filter off and the tick over screwed right in, got her running and onto tick over so bar on and chain one adjust oil pump because it was hard wood was to get cuttung pulling in great set tick over and give it some work and stopped check plug perfect good colour and it was a big old husky heavy the next was a old still checked every thing new bar and a new chain but was very noisy cut well run well but the noise to the exhaust of no padding nothing so of it cam down to the scrap bin got a good on and put it on, it was a different saw pull well all I did let the saw pull it self in a great big but heavy saw checked the plug perfect colours when I first got the saws they went into my car boot he came back did you see any one take the saw away, no but you know what it's like in the skip it's any one. And have a happy Christmas and a happy healthy safe new year

so while your going after the hook your also creating a ski ramp..do ya leave it till after a couple sharpenings and then take it down even..if ya try and take out the ramp first don't ya end up with a wider opening at the base of the tooth making it so the file has a larger gap at the top and middle making the "C"..just an observation...thks for sharing with us...

Great to see, the vintage saw Billy, i was dealin with one myself, also with a round chain on it, it had the same issue...no gullet. wich i sorted the same as you did.
I'm also lookin around to put a longer bar on it. 28 a 30 inch (now has a 21 inch)
but they are quite expensive overhere.
what do you recommend...solid nose or bearing....
