The issue with all these sorts of devices is that they have "hit and run" written all over them. Things will probably work at the start then gradually slow down / stop as there is no recurring revenue coming in to the company to encourage them to keep it running. Or they just get straight up shut down.
I guess that's always going to be an issue. Tanggula do seem to have been around for at least a couple of years but you do have to wonder how long the industry will let them operate for.
Even if the service shuts down its not a brick. You know you can always download an IPTV service. Of course you will have to pay monthly but there is a shit ton of cheap services.
I did a review on this crappy box. The firmware is old, my network jack didn't work and the box is WAY overpriced. It's basically a T-95 box with a 1-year subscription plan. You would be better off getting $40 box and installing the IPTV service of your choice. That's cheaper, and you'll be getting a box with the updated Android operating system.
Thats what I have been trying to tell people. The upfront costs of buying a box and installing an IPTV service is way less than half the cost of one of these boxes. That's what I've been doing for years. And my service has two connections so I only need two cheap boxes and I get TV in my livingroom and my bedroom.
@@bigbadjohnpesek9894 My plan comes with 4 connections. So I can use my Android phone and tablet, and two TV's in my house for $25 bucks a month. Way better than this crap. My service is so good, they are not accepting any new customers right now because they don't want to compromise the quality of their service by overloading their servers. SMART PEOPLE. 🙂
The S905X4 is commonly found in a lot of chinese emulation boxes which are just these android tv boxes with Botacera or Emuelec or another frontend installed and a bunch of roms added. You should do a vid on buying the 40 dollar identical box and making it into an emulation box that can play even a lot of mame games too. Basically it's just an sd card that auto boots into the emulation when it's plugged in and when removed it goes back to a tv box. Some of the better ones have a 2.5" hdd inside and that's where these tv boxes really start to shine for emulation use.
Very interested in this until you said voice controlled. That is a deal breaker for me personally, I don't want anything listening to me, which is why I never bought anything like google alexa.
@@AlexandreLefaure Correct I do not have a mobile phone (never had a need for one) and my computer does not have a mic, I built it myself, like i've been doing for decades.
For that kind of money, you can get an nvidia shield. Much better processor, solid unit and true google tv allowing for fully working Netflix and other streaming services as they are on a white list. Personally, in 2024, I would want to go for a new google tv dongle (2024 model) as they are less than £100 although, if nvidia brought out a new shield, I would jump on it like my life depended on it.
I wouldn't have the patient for this! Way to slow in loading. The voice feature is a plus though for searching for a movie or TV show. I use this on my Roku a lot. Since you have to tie into your Internet provider, isn't this a problem?
why in 2024 is anybody using an android box (wont mention all the security holes in them ) but just connect an old pc or laptop to your tv , runs better , a lot more options and you can do a lot more with it
I believe in giving people information about all of these devices. Hopefully I've made it clear that the device does work and does what it says it will do, but that you need to decide for yourself on how you view the legality of it.
@@BytesNBits Thats fine... I'll pirate my own stuff... I refuse to let people profit off things they pirated for free. I will never buy boxes like these or those drives with roms on them.
The main cost is for access to the streaming apps. I think all the similar products charge similar prices and I don't think you can access the apps without the official hardware.
I wouldn't mind having one because I have a TV with not much Channel I am disabled and I'm in your wheelchair and the government are not giving me much for my pension can't really afford it with what but I would love to know the price so maybe I could save my money to get one to watch TV my hockey games
I been using these boxes for years, and have been happy with them!
That's great to hear. They do deliver what they say they will.

Any speedway UK
Does this box pick up like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon prime and are they free to watch?
I don't think it covers any of the movie channels, just the live TV ones, plus it's own series and movie library.

Thanks for the feedback. I did a project using Emuelec on a TV box last year I think. Worked great as a retro gaming system.
Great video
Thanks. But do think about the implications of using these devices if you decide to go this route.
Are those mostly just IPTV channels? Those are 100% legal and free to stream. Looks like some kind of Kodi addons too. Those can be grey area.
Its all illegal
I think there's a mix of free and subscription channels.
Way to expansive for me. Thanks
These aren't cheap devices and they do use dubious methods to deliver their content.
Very interested in this until you said voice controlled. That is a deal breaker for me personally, I don't want anything listening to me, which is why I never bought anything like google alexa.
I think these sorts of remotes only record sound while you hold down the record button.
I guess you have no phone and removed the microphone from your computer
@@AlexandreLefaure Correct I do not have a mobile phone (never had a need for one) and my computer does not have a mic, I built it myself, like i've been doing for decades.
Oh be careful with these, they can be loaded up with malware...! If you have the ability to scan your network traffic you can see for yourself.
Thanks for the warning. I'll keep a watch on it.

Good advice. There are lots of ways to find something to watch.

Yes. I'd advise some sort of VPN if you decide to use these devices. I'm not sure how the ISPs view them.

I think a lot of people like the simplicity of the TV box. Don't forget most people struggle with pcs and laptops.
Legality not sure... Okay...
I guess we all know the answer.
Can't believe you have now resorted to reviewing illegal streaming boxes on this channel. wow

It used to have third-party apps, but they’re all gone not worth the price.
Yes. It's a different way of looking at getting TV content. Not for everyone.
is there a cheaper alternative?
The main cost is for access to the streaming apps. I think all the similar products charge similar prices and I don't think you can access the apps without the official hardware.
There is a cheaper alternative. Buy a $35 android box and install a cheap IPTV service. I pay $16 a month for my service. Google is your friend.

These units cost around $250 or £250 on Amazon, etc. You can probably pick them up for less on eBay.
@@BytesNBits😢
I live in Canada twice the price down United States
These devices are illegal in my country.
Yes. You do need to be careful and keep on the right side of the law.
It's not worth £250 I'd give them £20 max
The device has definitely got a market. It's just not to everyone's liking.
