Well, when you're in hell you know on some level that you royally messed up at some point in your previous life. It can't be fun for him to know that he's now stuck there for the rest of eternity or until one of the angels kills him. Plus, he's surrounded by demons or sinners who are in hell for also messing up their or other people's lives. It's also a miracle that Charlie is as kind and empathetic as she is. Most other demons wouldn't care about Angel Dust's problems at all tbh.
I just found out that Keith David (Goliath from Gargoyles) is the VA for Husk and I'm in love with the character even more. And boy can he sing too! Angel and Husk make great friends. Angel is out there and Husk reigns him in with his honesty.
The writing on both shows is incredibly good. Extremely relatable characters that are going through their own hell internally... hiding it from the world as best they can... trying to find a way through to something better.

the fact that angel is based off a abusive relationship vivzie was in breaks my heart..as someone who was SA'd no one should ever have to go through that let alone everything angel went through. im still recovering from being SA'd and hearing this song hits home for me and always makes me cry or tear up..especially how Blake's voice cracks up at the end just made jt sound even more sad and painful..
Angel is based off a spider. Which makes his arc even better. Because spiders are typically trap hunters, but he's the one that's trapped. Even more ironically, Val is a moth, which would normally be a big meal for them. It's easy to write off because Angel does BDSM, but in the actual video there's lots of imagery of chains and locks and his center piece over his bed is a spider web.

So it is in fact THE ONLY song in Hazbin hotel that is about just one specific character in the show (Angel in this case).

I’ve loved all 4 so far. Vivziepop has gotten hate for the show that I think is unnecessary. If you take the leak and judge it for the whole episode, you don’t get context of it.
I agree, all episodes were great but the 4th was the best. The heart wrenching reveal (although most of us knew it already I assume) of Angel’s situation was devastating. I love the direction Angel’s and Husk’s relationship is going too, it’s wholesome and both of them deserve it. Also, I personally found it interesting that Vivziepop showed a gay character going through, um, exploitation of a specific kind. We see it with woman, but seeing it with a man (especially a gay one) is something I think we should talk more about, it opens up a good conversation I think. It was done in a good way too, it didn’t feel homophobic at all (at least imo). Loving the show so far, I love all the main cast, but Angel and Husk are probably my favorites.
The part "Wish I had something to live for tomorrow" really got to me because Angel had to deal with so much to the point where he doesn't see the reason to live anymore.
I heard someone describe that outro really well. Angel is singing everything up to that point but when that point starts his voice changes he's no longer Angel the mask drops he's singing as himself as Anthony trapped and scared and alone

Yeah, I love Kovach, but the new VA is amazing. Don't get me wrong, both sound like Angel and both have their merits, but I really think the VA is perfect, especially for this song.
I think the problem is that Kovach was just too perfect of a voice for Angel. Blake's great, and if you didn't have Addict and the Pilot on repeat when those came out you won't be able to tell the difference between them at all. But Kovach gave a slight gravel to Angel's voice that is missing from Blake's version which gives him less of the edge and doesn't fit quiiite as well. Again, Blake's still amazing and this song is phenominal, but Kovach's Angel Dust was arguably the biggest breakout character from the pilot and the only recasting decision that I really disagreed with.
i like how this song can have multiple meanings, like its written for angel dusts and valentinos toxic relationship, but it can relate to any toxic one. and it can also be relatable to any addiction
“My story’s gonna end with me dead from your poison”. The song and imagery made me feel uneasy. Angel is a great character. I hope he can change his fate.
Not to mention, his human life literally ended up that way. He mentioned he died of drug overdose and if the body and appearance you have in hell is a reflection of your life and how you died, angel was definitely prostituting for drugs and the way he handles a weapon definitely suggests he’s had to protect himself even when he was alive. He already died to “poison” and he’s aware that the way he’s going, he’s going to die again to the same stuff. It’s really REALLY sad when you think about how his life is literally repeating twice and despite his attempted reformation, it’s very likely that he might die before he can do something else with his time 🥲
I watched hh when I was in a really low place. I was being bullied at school and felt trapped in an abusive relationship. I was told what to think, how to feel, where to go, and who to talk to. He refused to stand up for me when his friends would taunt, mock, and humiliate me. It got so bad I cut myself and was on the verge of suicide and I was pulled out of school. I knew him and his friends were the problem but I still wanted to be with him. Poison really hit hard and it’s a perfect way to explain abusive relationships. I’m doing better now, and HH was an escape and eye opener for me. I’m so grateful I found it. Blake also did an incredible job acting and singing as angel.❤
People are really hating the voice cracks but I personally think it adds to Angel's abuse and the things he's been through with Valentino and life in general (The new voice actor gave it that new touch so good on him♡)
Watching the animation sequence for this song left me speechless. Realizing that Angel is a victim forced to be brutalized and humilated by some psychopath everyday....like holy shit. And it's not for a quick cash grab but because Valentino loves breaking him just because he can. Poor Angel. I literally teared up during this scene. Kudos to everyone who worked on this project. What an interesting, relatable, and complex character. I'm definitely enjoying this series so far and I can't wait for new episodes to drop

Especially in the cases of working in the s3x/p0rn industry. Just because someone chose to work in said industry does NOT mean they chose, nor deserve to be abused.

From experience I can say this song nails it perfectly... the energy at the beginning, the illusion of thriving in the situation and that it can't get to you. You know how bad it is but you just live through it because it became normal but as the song goes on reality is coming closer and closer ultimately having you break down and losing the strength of keeping up the illusion and look of "I'm fine" resulting in the voice crack at the end.... the song is perfect

SPOILERS JUST TO BE SAFE People are theorizing that that's exactly what that is. That Angel will finally decide enough is enough and try to fight back, subsequently getting overpowered and killed but earning his redemption in the process and reappearing alongside Sir Pentious in Heaven. This would in turn prompt Husker to take action. How this goes depends on his deal with Alastor. If either the deal still lets him stay at full power or Alastor gives him the OK to cut let loose, then Husk would presumably be able to hold his own against Val and put him down for good. If not, Husk would likely get done in as well, getting his redemption and joining Angel in Heaven. Of course given that Husker belongs to Alastor, Al won't take losing him lying down and subject Val to his usual radio demon routine.
I like how they didn't show sexual violence in a fetishised way but a realistic one in this episode. Many series/movies use violence for shock value but still want the audience to enjoy what they see. This episode had none of that, is was made to be uncomfortable and terrible, just like the situation itself

The change from “Every night I’m living like there’s no tomorrow” to “Wish I had something to live for tomorrow” was beautiful and emotional songwriting
I love how this song out of context still works as it's own song and accurately represents people stuck in their own situations of addiction, whether it was forced onto you and getting a taste for it was a way for your brain to cope, it was your own self who dug that hole and your the one who took the first hit, or both. And it's this sick poison you simply can't help inject yourself with despite knowing it's killing you. Whether it's inside, or literally if it's drugs of some sort.
Angel is truly a very complex character, that episode left me in tears, i hope someday in the series he will find peace (i still haven't finished the first, i'm at episode 6 now)
I know this isnt a hot take, but i was in several abusive and toxic personal relationships, some romantic, some not. This song perfectly tells of the highs and lows of those situations. You get so stuck in a relationship, addicted to the highs of neglectful or abusive partners or friends that you unwillingly wait out the lows, no matter how low they get... To the point you cant go lower. Thank you, writers, composers, Blake Roman... Everyone who made this song possible.

I really hope Charlie finds out the whole truth about it, seeing her furious about how Angel was treated, and using her authority as princess of hell once, was very satisfying. I really hope Hazbin Hotel figures out how to get him away from Valentino, especially since Alastor has some personal beef with the Vees too.

Wasn't advised in the usual sense but I've helped many people through their recovery from abuse. This resonates with the most common types of abuse and I think this song is therapeutic for many. At least the couple ive shared it with.
I got goosebumps and felt prickly when I heard that song. addicted, poisoned, dirty, drowned, damaged. It's hard to get rid of addiction, you always go crazy for a moment, when you wake up you feel regretful and dirty. I'm frustrated, I want to change, but it seems like it's too late, I'm in too deep. Sometimes I miss the me who didn't understand anything, was innocent, the old me seemed to have disappeared.

So glad I waited to listen to this until the episode dropped. This song was so well-done and since I hadn't heard it before, the absolute impact was staggering. Excellent performance by Blake Roman and by the animation team. This was a stellar sequence that drives every point it's trying to make home masterfully.
To date one of the best advertisements Ive seen for a show. Shows how good the songs are gonna be, assures you that things are gonna get dark, sets the expectations sky high for character writing, builds anticipation for when you see the song in the show, and addresses the main criticism from the pilot (Angel being very one dimensional there)
The emotion in the vocals is amazing the upbeat feel and the meaning behind the words is amazing I just love "Filling up my glass but it's always hollow." Blake Roman is no Michel Kovach, but he's not supposed to be, he is his own person I love how he characterizes who angel is but puts that spin to the character. The way he shows the relation to the character send a sub limitable message.
I love every single song that Angel is singing. I love that he doesn't enjoy this, he doesn't want this and it was painful for him. Hazbin Hotel's songs are genuinely amazing.
Blake Roman is a fantastic choice for Angel! I'll always love the original VAs too, but I know that A24 can only hire union actors. Their choices are phenomenal.
Now I know why this song still made my top 100 despite me not having listened to it sense like January or February, in which case I listened to an hour loop and never touched it again. It actually is addictive

I just watched this episode last night and I was absolutely speechless during this song. It's so heartbreaking and so so horrible to see that the comic relief character has such a tragic story. This song is incredible and the double meaning is so well done.
Speaking from a person who just came out of a really abusive relationship, this song really just hits, i feel less alone like i have someone an actual iconic character who went through similar trauma and it just makes me feel so much less alone its sad because i keep trying to avoid him but i always end up right back with him and i don't really know how to live my life without him the change is scary and it's better than being alone and sober, with my own thoughts i feel like i need to be high to get through my life so i depend on him for it but i also know i need to change i just don't know how like at all
I don't know if you're actually looking for advice, but I wanted to share what I know. Sharing your situation with trustable people irl is a good place to start - and if you don't have any, then making (safe) connections in order to build a support group can be a first step. Finding people who you can depend on - that actually care about your well-being - that aren't him, will keep you away from him. If there's some sort of support group or group therapy or something else locally that has like-minded people, just start meeting other people, even if it takes a while and is hard. A big thing abusers do is isolate. Don't let him be the only person in your life. Even if you just know other people on a shallow level, you'd be surprised how willing they can be to help, or even just listen when you really need it. I wish you the best of luck. Leaving that sort of thing is hard. Staying gone can be even harder. But it is very much worth it to live your own life, even if it sucks at first. You'll get there.
I know the feeling. Around 2 years ago I went though my own hell and your right. It's better and it's alright to miss him but never go back. I missed the man that abused me due that he cut me down so much I thought he was the only one that would want me. Heal and take your time.

Well, when you're in hell you know on some level that you royally messed up at some point in your previous life. It can't be fun for him to know that he's now stuck there for the rest of eternity or until one of the angels kills him. Plus, he's surrounded by demons or sinners who are in hell for also messing up their or other people's lives. It's also a miracle that Charlie is as kind and empathetic as she is. Most other demons wouldn't care about Angel Dust's problems at all tbh.

Angel is based off a spider. Which makes his arc even better. Because spiders are typically trap hunters, but he's the one that's trapped. Even more ironically, Val is a moth, which would normally be a big meal for them. It's easy to write off because Angel does BDSM, but in the actual video there's lots of imagery of chains and locks and his center piece over his bed is a spider web.

I agree, all episodes were great but the 4th was the best. The heart wrenching reveal (although most of us knew it already I assume) of Angel’s situation was devastating. I love the direction Angel’s and Husk’s relationship is going too, it’s wholesome and both of them deserve it. Also, I personally found it interesting that Vivziepop showed a gay character going through, um, exploitation of a specific kind. We see it with woman, but seeing it with a man (especially a gay one) is something I think we should talk more about, it opens up a good conversation I think. It was done in a good way too, it didn’t feel homophobic at all (at least imo). Loving the show so far, I love all the main cast, but Angel and Husk are probably my favorites.

As someone who has never seen the original pilot, this is an amazing song
I think the problem is that Kovach was just too perfect of a voice for Angel. Blake's great, and if you didn't have Addict and the Pilot on repeat when those came out you won't be able to tell the difference between them at all. But Kovach gave a slight gravel to Angel's voice that is missing from Blake's version which gives him less of the edge and doesn't fit quiiite as well. Again, Blake's still amazing and this song is phenominal, but Kovach's Angel Dust was arguably the biggest breakout character from the pilot and the only recasting decision that I really disagreed with.
i like how this song can have multiple meanings, like its written for angel dusts and valentinos toxic relationship, but it can relate to any toxic one. and it can also be relatable to any addiction

He mentioned he died of drug overdose and if the body and appearance you have in hell is a reflection of your life and how you died, angel was definitely prostituting for drugs and the way he handles a weapon definitely suggests he’s had to protect himself even when he was alive. He already died to “poison” and he’s aware that the way he’s going, he’s going to die again to the same stuff. It’s really REALLY sad when you think about how his life is literally repeating twice and despite his attempted reformation, it’s very likely that he might die before he can do something else with his time 🥲

I watched hh when I was in a really low place. I was being bullied at school and felt trapped in an abusive relationship. I was told what to think, how to feel, where to go, and who to talk to. He refused to stand up for me when his friends would taunt, mock, and humiliate me. It got so bad I cut myself and was on the verge of suicide and I was pulled out of school. I knew him and his friends were the problem but I still wanted to be with him.
Poison really hit hard and it’s a perfect way to explain abusive relationships.
I’m doing better now, and HH was an escape and eye opener for me. I’m so grateful I found it.

Watching the animation sequence for this song left me speechless. Realizing that Angel is a victim forced to be brutalized and humilated by some psychopath everyday....like holy shit. And it's not for a quick cash grab but because Valentino loves breaking him just because he can. Poor Angel. I literally teared up during this scene. Kudos to everyone who worked on this project. People are theorizing that that's exactly what that is. That Angel will finally decide enough is enough and try to fight back, subsequently getting overpowered and killed but earning his redemption in the process and reappearing alongside Sir Pentious in Heaven.
This would in turn prompt Husker to take action. How this goes depends on his deal with Alastor. If either the deal still lets him stay at full power or Alastor gives him the OK to cut let loose, then Husk would presumably be able to hold his own against Val and put him down for good.
If not, Husk would likely get done in as well, getting his redemption and joining Angel in Heaven. Of course given that Husker belongs to Alastor, Al won't take losing him lying down and subject Val to his usual radio demon routine.

I love how this song out of context still works as it's own song and accurately represents people stuck in their own situations of addiction, whether it was forced onto you and getting a taste for it was a way for your brain to cope, it was your own self who dug that hole and your the one who took the first hit, or both. The emotion in the vocals is amazing the upbeat feel and the meaning behind the words is amazing I just love "Filling up my glass but it's always hollow." Blake Roman is no Michel Kovach, but he's not supposed to be, he is his own person I love how he characterizes who angel is but puts that spin to the character. The way he shows the relation to the character send a sub limitable message.
I love every single song that Angel is singing. I love that he doesn't enjoy this, he doesn't want this and it was painful for him. Hazbin Hotel's songs are genuinely amazing.

that line is so sad. i watched the full episode the first time i watched the series, but after that i just watched bits and pieces in compilations and stuff. but yesterday i watched it all the way through which was already a bad idea because i was really emotional yesterday for no reason. and i just broke down on my couch crying, when you actually think about it and see the fear in angel’s eyes, how he’s always looking over his shoulder like he knows he’s being watched, it’s absolutely heartbreaking.💔
I just watched this episode last night and I was absolutely speechless during this song. It's so heartbreaking and so so horrible to see that the comic relief character has such a tragic story. This song is incredible and the double meaning is so well done.

Speaking from a person who just came out of a really abusive relationship, this song really just hits, i feel less alone like i have someone an actual iconic character who went through similar trauma and it just makes me feel so much less alone its sad because i keep trying to avoid him but i always end up right back with him and i don't really know how to live my life without him the change is scary and it's better than being alone and sober, with my own thoughts i feel like i need to be high to get through my life so i depend on him for it but i also know i need to change i just don't know how like at all
I don't know if you're actually looking for advice, but I wanted to share what I know.
Sharing your situation with trustable people irl is a good place to start - and if you don't have any, then making (safe) connections in order to build a support group can be a first step. Finding people who you can depend on - that actually care about your well-being - that aren't him, will keep you away from him.
If there's some sort of support group or group therapy or something else locally that has like-minded people, just start meeting other people, even if it takes a while and is hard. A big thing abusers do is isolate. Don't let him be the only person in your life. Even if you just know other people on a shallow level, you'd be surprised how willing they can be to help, or even just listen when you really need it.
I wish you the best of luck. Leaving that sort of thing is hard. Staying gone can be even harder. But it is very much worth it to live your own life, even if it sucks at first. You'll get there.
I know the feeling. Around 2 years ago I went though my own hell and your right. It's better and it's alright to miss him but never go back. I missed the man that abused me due that he cut me down so much I thought he was the only one that would want me. Heal and take your time.
