My top tip for newer players drafting this: If your opponent has five mana up and a morph on the board, be careful. The designers made it so that if a morph has a cost of 5 mana or more to turn face-up, it's big enough to eat and survive against a 2/2 (e.g: a face-down morph). If it costs 4 or less to turn face-up, that morph will be smaller and will only chump, trade or boing off against a 2/2.
I also would personally advise: Don't bother with the Banners (one for each faction, 3 mana mana rock that taps for three colours and sacs to draw a card) unless you DESPERATELY need the fixing. Playing a Banner on Turn 3 (the best-case scenario) still didn't really compete with just playing a Morph on Turn 3. Treasure isn't in this set (hadn't been invented yet), but the nonbasic lands that fix colours are plentiful and useful, so consider picking those higher than the Banners.
Totally understand that it might not make sense in terms of views to make more content around this re-release but even one draft of this would be really cool to see! Love all of your content regardless!
I COMPLETELY understand the bias towards the set that came out near the time of your return to magic. After not playing since 2012 I came back during March Of the Machine and I refuse to be convinced it's not the best set to ever exist.
it is one of the more interesting sets for sure, the phyrexian flips and battles are very cool design space
I feel the same way about Amonkhet. I teach ancient Egyptian content at work, and I loved the theming.
i doubt march was that good, but im bia towards the sets that came out when i was returning to magic, mostly return to ravnica and original innistrad
Oof, tough hill to die on, brother...
First Magic set I ever drafted was Neon Dynasty, and damn what a way to start. One of the most fun Magic me and my friends ever had.
Super glad to see this. Kinda wish we could get a full set review, but I'll gladly settle for this given that it's a better decision for you. :)
Khans was my very first prerelease. Definitely one of the most special sets to me. Very interesting how limited has changed since then
Please do as many Khans drafts as you can Nizz! I'm a new fan to your channel, but I found your stuff through your draft content and I love your videos and insight on cards.. I would watch so much Khans content from you, this is a draft lovers perfect set! Please, for the youtube frogs make a few Khans drafts videos for us (me) !
This set was my first ever paper draft. I got second place. It super turned me on to the limited format. Big time nostalgia here.
i love this set and miss so much the older format mtg use to have, 3 blocks + 1 coreset was amazing to build and extended was my favorite format back in the day
I’m super excited for this! Hope to see more Tarkir content on the channel!
Yay thanks for this! My husband and I have a box of Khans of tarkir that we're gonna draft with friends so this will be useful for that too ❤
I also came back to MTG when Tarkir was launching. Sadly I didn't have the money or the place to play draft at the time, so I'm super pumped to be able to experience the KTK environment now on arena.
I started playing MtG around Zendikar but Kahns is the set that got me to love draft.
I have so many Abzan prerelease packs that I have a whole 60 card deck foiled out with stamps.
College was a fun time
Growing up I largely ignored MTG. So, I was a little late to the party! That being said - Khans/Dragons of Tarkir were some of the first cards I ever got - so I will always have a soft spot for this Block. I hope to see you dive into this content - at least a little bit!
I'm excited to draft this set. Seems like it'll be super interesting
I’ve played magic since the beginning but I did take a break from 1998 to 2001 when mtgo came out, and I definitely have nostalgia for Invasion block
I love khans block. I'm so glad it's coming to arena
I’m having fun with this format. More fun than the last 2 sets imo
One of the greatest sets of all time. Took em long enough.
Ill be in to content for this set, im not really feeling lost caverns so looking forward to this
I preferred Fate Reforged with Khans, but I have loved reminding people of Kin-tree Invocation's power 😁
Forgot how much removal sucked in this set. Changed the feel for sure.
Love to see more Khantent though.
I started playing in onslaught and loved morph as a mechanical. Khans bringing it back was a big plus in my loving it
Let's start with Abzan: their mechanic is called "Siege Rhino."
I like your Christmas sweater bird.
I really like khans block. I have 0 nostalgia for it since i started playing in khaldheim. Just love the art, setting/theme and the cool dragons etc
Khans block was the goat
Khans SET was the goat. I’ll accept FRF, but they massacred my boy in the third installment
If there's at least 5 drafts of this set, I'll oblivion ring the teekas dragon meme.
Very cool to see a limited format that uses 3 color archetypes
Khans of tarkir was coming out when I got into magic at Boy Scout camp when I was 13
I'm down for some Khantent.
I'd love some more notes, I wanna do good on this format
I have never drafted Khans of Tarkir, so any info you can give is much appreciated. Hopefully I won't get my butt kicked repeatedly.
I'm waiting for Homelands Remastered
NIZZ is there enough cards of split second to do a top 10?
I know I would enjoy the content
pumped!
Haven't able to get to play MTG arena because I can't login to it for the first time ever, anyone else having problems? "Error updating data" is only thing I get.
How does outlast work on abzan falconer? Tap a white mana so it can tap and pay a white mana?
Nvm. Figured it out. Not too confusing but that reads poorly
I was confuses too until I realized you paid 1 mana to "activate outlast". Outlast meaning to tap itself and gain a +1/+1 counter. Kinda like how fire breathing means to gain +1/+0 until end of turn, the end of turn part comes with the effect and gaining +1/+0 forever wouldn't be fire breathing. Outlast has the downside of tapping the card. The wording is bit funky at first glance for sure though.
I don't see how else if could be worded. The text in parentheses is reminder text, not rules text.
@@JasonOshinko pay one mana to pay one mana and tap it is how I originally read it. Then I figured it out
Please do a draft 🥹
What happened to your camera resolution? The quality dropped noticeably in recent videos.
I'm bias towards sets that came out before I started playing.
