Really dig your videos and teaching style/humor. Your 7 string videos especially helped ease my mind about getting one. Now time to sit, drink my coffee and learn 🤓

Im confused. I searched g major scale positions on google and it shows that position 1 starts with frets 2 3 5 on the sixth string and so on...what am i getting mixed up with?

So those notes would (in standard tuning) be F# - G - A. So, that's starting on what is technically your 7th scale degree. But, if we truly want 1st position of any scale, we start on that tonic/1st note of the scale. So, 3-5-7 (G-A-B) would be the right move!

Great video! I’m wandering if and how scales change if you use different tunings?

Great video! I just finished learning the modes ( aeolian, Dorian, etc.) so what would it be called if you played the A position pattern but starting on the G? From what I’ve been reading and learning is you can use all the patterns starting on the same root note. Is it just simply A Aeolian and A Dorian, etc?

Playing an "A Dorian" over a G Major is still just the G Major Scale! Just starting on the 2nd note (that's why it's 2nd position of G Major in this case). However, play that second position over "A" or Aminor and start the pattern on A, it's now centered around a modal tonal center! More on that in the next videos in the series!
