youre exactly right. those in white are people representing becoming conformed to taking medication. Which explains why after getting their smiles wiped away, they look like Zombies.. b/c the medication used for things like Depression/OCD with are SSRI's, aren't just "happy pills".. they work both ways and often make people just numb. zombified. Also explains why in the last scene their balloons come back.. bc you have to keep taking doses or the symptoms come back. And as we know, Nate is afraid of taking meds b/c he's afraid they will change him.. from track "Only" he confirms this with "Would I be the same if I was medicated? Even therapists say I need medication. I avoid it, though, because I'm scared to take it". In Hope, he's not wearing white either.. it's eggshell/off white. so dead on. I'm a therapist who works with complex mental disorders and its so frustrating seeing other Outcast's try to explain this song as if he's making a 'choice' to give his balloons away.. like, he has a mental disorder, ocd.. it's a life thing.. not something you can just give away. the best you can do, the smartest, is learn how to cope with it as Fear told him in Intro III "you just have to learn to cope with it".. that's why we don't see him give away the 2 balloons and it cuts off.. and even if we pretend he is deciding to let go of two of his burdens.. they'd have to be his self acceptance of his newly diagnosed OCD and wanting to deal with it on his own (that choice is a burden.. to just take meds or not).. or the callback to Fame telling Fame to Leave him Alone.. it could also be his final confident stand against Fame and embracing being an Outcast. no meds needed.. Just greenlights. #NFRealMusic 🗝
5:02 yaaaassss you caught that this time about the balloons, so look at that through the lenses of the comment on the last video… he’s telling us about what the labels telling him but he dose what he does and we love it (and we do) but during this time we point out how many burdens he still has, he’s hurting still yet helping us grow… we immediately begin to push him through
I think you have a good grasp of what's going on. I have the same read. One thing is that I think is going on as well is the clothing color reflects the state of the soul.
Great reaction Ray! It is amazing how much more we can see once we have the cliff notes, right? My take on this video is that burdens never go away completely, they are a part of life. Whatever path we choose towards healing, be it therapy, medication, self-care, letting go of toxic relationships, a relationship with God, we need to put the work in and make a consistent effort to stay healthy and happy. That is why you see the people in white still with balloons, it is a constantly renewing cycle. The white clothing, which to me is the state of our soul, the face paint, the mask we hide behind, and the balloons, our burdens. The people in the shed still in black, are the people that are not ready, they are stuck. NF is wants to work on it, but he still has ways to go at this point. But! Even though he is not 100% ready to start yet, he is getting there. Based on my belief system, he handed over a couple of burdens to Jesus, who is also called our living Hope. In the beginning of Hope he says “Hope, I’m on my way I’m coming. Don’t lose faith in me, I know you have been waiting”. Leave me alone is the first step on his Search for the map to Hope.
My thoughts on NF are. He’s almost always referring a feeling or a burden. Doubt…Hate…fear…etc. I feel like the search an metaphor for his mind or brain looking at the contours of the Scenery in the video. White are positive thoughts and black are negative thoughts. Leave me alone is also his head…it’s like a circus with so much going on. Same thoughts same burdens. One verse Is about doubt and he’s just telling his thoughts to leave him alone in all his chaos so he can just think for a moment. The tricky and fun part is trying to figure out who’s who? I like to say that NF is his thoughts that bring him down. Nathan is the one who is trying to get him through all this. It he needs NF to figure it all out.
Absolutely Great re-reaction Ray! See You on Your next #NF reaction! As always I'll let the rest of the comments speak for themselves. There are a lot more Unbelievably GREAT songs by NF that You'll love reacting to. Including #OldSchoolNF like "I'm Free." Look forward to it. Be the first to react to his album I'm Free and the rest will follow Your lead. You won't regret it, especially considering how dam good he was even 12 years ago when he was around 18.
You got it right at the end NF didn't get rid of all his burdens but some of them just like the people in white they still have some but get rid of them a small section at a time I believe.
It's hard to let go of certain burdens, especially when its about the past. Some of the people are waiting in line to get their fake smile removed. It's the mask we put on to go trough life as if everything is ok. (The search: Is'n that what we al say?) #NF
you have to listen to NF lie, i know it’s not part of the journey but definitely a really relatable song
It is part of the journey
He’s already reacted to it
Bro when you get to the hope album you need to do the whole album in order. It is so great to listen to NF in his new bag.
And please look up the track listing on the web. The UA-cam audio tracks were uploaded in the wrong order and it makes a difference.
yeah man, he is used to the burdens the depression, even if he hates it, it's comfortable. getting rid of them is an unknown
Now start his New Album HOPE
Ha! I’m not there yet :)
Nothing better then seeing someone on the NF Journey! He has a song called Prideful that isn’t on the journey but it’s top 5 for me, must listen!
I always thought the transformation in the clothing was symbolism with his struggle in taking or not taking medicine for his "mental struggles".
