Can you guys please help us Americans watch all matches including Juryo? We have nowhere to do this, so it leads to pirating then the NHK bans everyone trying to expand this amazing sport to the rest of the world.
I was nervous a bit for Hoshoryu but he pulled it off he's the one I'm wanting to win but what surprised me was Wakatakage what an animal congrats to that guy! Great tournament Thanks for posting! Will

Hiro, can you please ask your NHK overlords to stop taking down channels that post Juryo and Makushita or give us access to watch it somehow? They're doing neither and I have no way to follow this great sport that NHK is simultaneously trying to garner more popularity for while also making sure I have no way to follow it.
NHK WORLD has their own app that's free ,and you get more than just sumo and their sumo highlights last longer than 7 minutes of actual fighting you get 30 minutes to see all the top fights.

So is it technically possible for Kotozakura and Hoshoryu to both be promoted to Yokozuna if Hoshoryu wins and Kotozakura is runner up as with the say so of the sumo association 1 win and a runner up in a row is enough for Yokozuna does it have to be win + runner up and not runner up then win?
Doesn't look like Kotozakura will get his rope, maybe has a hidden injury and looks sluggish, tired. Hoshoryu looks like a technical and physical beast, I've no doubt he'll win this Hatsu. I don't think committee will give Hoshoryu his rope without Koto getting his first or at the same time. They're desperate for a native Yokozuna

Where is the basho?? Can't find Kintamayama or Natto sumo anywhere... Seriously, somebody give me a source, and preferably a highlight reel that isn't three hours long.
Won't divulge here (so they get taken down) but you can still find live sumo on UA-cam. NHK WORLD - JAPAN will post Makuuchi highlights, but 1 - 3 days later. JSA's official channel (Yellow Bird mascot logo) posts same day individual Makuuchi matches, as well.
Kotozakura's Yokozuna dream has gone out the window after Day 6 of Jan tournament. Very dismal performance so far. Hoshoryu will become Yokozuna no doubt.
The basho just ended; There was a 3 way play-off; The yokozuna just retired and there is a new yokozuna on the horizon. Sumo Prime Time has said nothing and covered none of it while the iron was hot. That's why everyone go to other sources and doesn't bother with this, "the official english sumo channel." Very disappointing channel. Should be releasing day-of coverage.

Very true. They are too hostile to people streaming the sport. It makes no sense unless they actually don’t want the sport to grow.
NHK WORLD has their own app that's free ,and you get more than just sumo and their sumo highlights last longer than 7 minutes of actual fighting you get 30 minutes to see all the top fights.
Great getting the updates on 2025 and see some of the matches before stingy NHK releases their summary.

I love watching sumo as watched it on TV when I was in Japan. What months are the Tournaments?
January (Tokyo), March (Osaka), May (Tokyo), July (Nagoya), September (Tokyo), November (Fukuoka).
