Thanks for your support and remember We All Follow The VILLA! #astonvilla #avfc #utv
Crew supporter here. Really enjoyed getting to see Villa play, and to meet the Villa supporters who were delightful. Hope we have the opportunity to play again down the road. Good luck with your season, and in Champions League!
I am not concerned at all. Pre seasons never used to be this big thing. They are rehearsals, practices. In Unai Emery we trust.
If I remember right we went unbeaten the whole of preseason under Gerrard. Just about getting minutes in the legs and trying new things. Good to see Buendia back
The very purpose of a “friendly” is to blood new players and apply/test new tactics within a casual setting, hence the result is not a concern as the score line was a product of the aforementioned!. The result for Columbus Crew would of meant a lot more, hence the reason they were considered as opposition in the first place, so stay calm and UTV
Proud of my boys in yellow. Definitely shouldn't panic too much. This is the 2nd best team in concacaf in peak performance. There was bound to be some rust. So happy to have seen this game
COLUMBUS CREW!!!
i thought maatsen and onana played really well, looking forward to seeing them play more
Really don’t matter, judgement starts on 17 Aug
Its all about match fitness at this point. You also have to realise the USA leagues are in full swing and their fitness levels are going to be much higher. Their goal were our mistakes we were not completely outplayed... UTV
spot on! UTV
Yeah I’ve highlighted same areas where we really need quality additions , better quality back up keeper, dominant quick CB and Diaby replacement. Gut feeling says defence will be our downfall this season if not strengthened !
Gauci, nedlejkovic, feeney, Barkley, barrenechea, illing jr all making debuts, it's not a surprise we lost, emery knows what he's doing, all about fitness, tactics etc etc
Not really debuts. They've all played in friendlies before (mainly the last 2) but yeh point still stands...the result is the least important thing
Without var shouldn't play high line, linesman got decisions wrong and shouldve had a pen in 1st half with handball. But other than that they played fantastic props to them
Slept through my alarm and watched the highlights this morning. 😂
Lucky you 😂
The entire match is on youtube😊
no point anylising it too much to be honest I thought feeney looked well ,but when you put digne as centre back that say everything ,I think we will see a gradual improvement as we go towards the new season
Awakening? It's a bit harsh isn't it? Some of these players played their first game in claret or were unfamilar with each other as two teams. It's also worth noting that Columbus played a regular team.
Depends how you interpret it, do you think the players will want to improve on their fitness and defensive errors? Do you think Emery will point to areas for them to be better? Would they be happy to concede 4 goals and a player score a hat-trick?
If not, then it could be classed as a bit of an awakening 👊🏿
Columbus played every player on their bench. Regular team?
A high line can get you burnt. Doesn't matter who you play.
@@shawnharrison9701Crew also played 2 players from the B team
@@mannyvilla63 yeah, gave one of them their first taste. Son of one of their past Goalies.
Its a match fitness exercise. They are half way through their season so much sharper and fitter than us. Our 3rd choice gk? Over critical if you ask me. Definitely not a rude awakening 22 players used with more mins in the legs a good test and another raise in fitness.
@@ryanc9754 fair enough, but what would you have said if we won 4-1 and archer scored a hat-trick?
@villaparkpod exactly the same, these results don't mean anything other than fitness, sharpness, and tactical testing in say the last 2 games when they rotate as much.
Keep in mind that this was a pre season warm up game so the result was secondary.
What I will say however is the pass from Matty Cash across his own box full of opposition players should never be played at any level.
He is prone to lapses of concentration and that's why we need an upgrade in the right back position in my opinion. UTV
I went to bed after Matty Cash's 4th goal disaster so I missed Emi and Amadou.
I don't think Archer is up to scratch tbh. He ran lots but wasn't in the game enough. Nedeljekovic looks good
Impressed with new squad members but I feel we will miss Diabys electric pace as a like for like for Bailey .Roger's looks better each game its a new set up hopefully they will gel soon. Going forward I still feel Moreno is too small to handle the rigors of a full season filled with snappy wingers .Onana.💯💯. Peace
Yes rich hope your good m8
Slightly annoyed that I stayed awake to watch us perform so poorly but these games are all about getting our players back up to speed so in that aspect it was perfect.
You could see how lethargic everyone looked - we wont look like that once the season starts after games like this.
It's no coincidence that the players who looked a step above everyone else were the ones that spent the sunmer playing in the Euros (Onana and Maatsen).
The main positive to take away is that Buendía looks as good as he always was.
People keep saying these kids from juve been good ive watched all the games so far and i think they are miles off the level we need
I think the opposite but time will tell...
Seemed very sensible until you said Barkley gave the ball away for the second goal without bothering to check. Clowns on the internet think it's highly significant that no more goals (or much of anything) happened after the late changes lol
@@Rick-Random cheers mate 👍🏿 thanks for your valuable opinion. I truly apologise for getting a player giving the ball away wrong 😞
It's not a rude awakening. It a practice session.
For both clubs
@@shawnharrison9701 obviously not, we are after match fitness and game time to take a look at the newcomers, it’s nothing but pre season for us and nobody is going to risk getting hurt with the prem nearing its start and with UCL, there was nothing riding on that game at all. Not so much for Columbus who are mid season and looked like they were playing in a final and were singing with arms linked and applauding the fans after the game.. so no it wasn’t the same for both teams at all!.
@@britishmickthat wasn’t even the Crew at their best so ok man cope
@@britishmick they do that after every home game. A friendly isn't just for one side. The Crew rested most of their starters, and played the entire bench, plus two academy players.
The disparity in roster salary alone should tell you that Columbus shouldn't have had a chance to score 2 goals, much less 4 and searching for more with two academy players on the pitch.
@@shawnharrison9701 if Villa won that dude would be talking mad shit about how MLS sucks lol, dude’s a wanker
Cb, Diaby and Duran replacement
cash replacement his garbage
@ammar6937 I would love that too, but it seems like he is staying. I'd sign a CB and stick Konsa at RB.
@@johnmarley6240 yes we deffo need a new cb and konsa would be a good choice at rb
@@ammar6937Mings will be back soon and Konsa can now play CB more, since we have Kosta to rotate with cash depending on the opposition. However if he wants to do the whole 4 CB back line thing then yes we need someone to replace Konsa as a CB
Torres Showed us again that nothing has changed when it comes tour defence. Not only was his.passing poor but under pressure he cannot defend and was beaten far to easy time after time and digne is a better center half snd tjat is saying something.
What is it wirh our reserve keepers (jeepers keepers)Gauci not great either
It’s not a rude awakening. But it’s a good warning to Unai that teams would target that high line.
they are halfway through season counts, i thought 2 goals were fouls. Need certain positions defo sorting
You thinking two goals were fouls obviously did not make that thought true 🙄
Fatigue, jetlag, move on!😊
It is just a friendly... Although I'm driving 1300 miles to see them play in NJ so I hope we'd play better v RB Leipzig!
Biggest issue I had was Ross Barkley, his attitude and body language on the pitch hasn’t changed an ounce, doesn’t matter if it’s pre season or a cup final. He will never change, waste of a player
Showed some class in previous friendlies and linked up well in midfield but still lacks some fitness and I think the 28oC heat got to him because he was sweating buckets. Had a very good season with Luton so to say he's a waste is quite unfair.
Nah mate that's not fair at all.
In a first half where nobody played particularly well I thought he was one of the better ones - picked out some great passes like he has done all season for Luton.
Don't condemn him forever because of last nights friendly 😂
@@joebees21 You dont even answer the point ? you said he made nice passes. I never mentioned his ability, i said his attitude, hes not good enough to walk around the pitch like hes messi. The second goal he couldnt be arsed to even pretend to chase the player that was 2 yards away from him. Thats exactly why we got rid of him last time... the exact reason why ever club gets rid of him. As i said its nothing to do with pre season, thats just him.
@@Le4thl3 I didn't even realise that was the point you were trying to make.
Maybe try to articulate yourself better next time ;)
In a game where everyone was walking around and getting back up to full fitness I wouldn't worry about a lack of effort just yet mate.
You have issues generally.
Atrocious. Hi line. Fail
Gauci. Fail
Feeney. Fail
Yet again they play the ball around the opponents box too much. Top 8 is possible, but at a push.
Talk about being over critical and making assumptions on a friendly game. Do you think both Gauci and Feeney would feature in a premiership or Champions league starting 11? My assumption is that Feeney will be loaned out and Gauci will go back to third keeper to learn his trade.
Blood hell mate no need to shit yourself 😂
You've written off our season based on one friendly against Columbus Crew where barely anyone has played for weeks?
Calm down.
