- Although in this video we show the beauties of Sardinia, our primary mission was gastronomy, to taste the best dishes and specialties of Sardinia.
We started our tour of northern Sardinia with the small town of Castelsardo.
Before we climbed up to the fortified town, we walked along the paths around the walls of the old town from where stunning views unfold.
Castelsardo is a picturesque medieval town with a rich history and stunning views.
La Pelosa beach, located on the northwestern tip of Sardinia, is renowned for its breathtaking beauty and crystal-clear turquoise waters. With its fine white sand and shallow, calm waters, La Pelosa is often considered one of the most stunning beaches in Italy. The beach is framed by the historic Torre della Pelosa, a 16th-century tower that adds to the picturesque charm of the area.
On the way to Neptune's Cave in Capo Caccia we visited Belvedere Foradada. It is an amazing clifftop viewpoint with the perfect view looking out over Foradada Island.
Neptune's Cave or Neptune's Grotto (Italian: Grotta di Nettuno; Catalan: Cova de Neptú) is just 30 minutes (about 24 km) by car from the center of Alghero. 654 steps reveal the wonderful scenery overlooking the sea.
The easiest way to visit Neptune’s Cave is by sea. You have to take one of the boat trips that leave from the Alghero’s harbor on a regular basis. This is the best method of visiting the cave for anyone with children or elderly people. The boat ticket does not include the entrance fee to Neptune’s Cave.
Alghero is a charming coastal city in Sardinia, is renowned for its well-preserved medieval architecture, particularly the 16th-century walls and towers surrounding its historic center. The city's stunning beaches, such as Maria Pia and Le Bombarde, offer pristine sands and crystal-clear waters. Alghero's rich Catalan heritage is evident in its language, cuisine, and annual festivals, providing a unique cultural experience for visitors. The vibrant local markets offer fresh seafood and traditional Sardinian crafts. At the time of our visit, a WRC car race was taking place. The presentation of the drivers took place along the coast in the old part of the city.
One of the symbols of Sardinia is The Elephant's Rock.
The rock is located near Castelsardo, to the left of the old road that led from the hamlet of Multeddu to the village of Sedini.
The Elephant's Rock has a great archaeological importance, because two ancient tombs have been carved inside.
Capo Testa is a beautiful peninsula that should be visited. There is still an active lighthouse there, which is the northernmost point of Sardinia.
Only 100 m below the lighthouse is the cave Grotta del faro (Lighthouse Cave), the entrance of which is hidden in the bushes and is not marked.
