Great question. I usually burn my favorite candle, or diffuse a fragrant essential oil. You can do eithe of These with a combination of a small boiling pot of water with vinegar and rosemary. 🙏🏽😘

The secret to Mackerel ... whatever your recipe, cook it within an hour or two after taking it out of the water. Fish are like Manna-meant for one day.

I've tried this, and the fish tasted very good. But one big problem for mackerel, your whole house is going to smell like fish oil. So I found a better way, get a Zojirushi fish griller. don't need to brine, fillet the fish, grill it for 9 minutes, and it tastes as good as this oven broiled. This zojirushi product has a catalytic converter, so little smoke and almost no smell coming out.
What did you do with that garlic, why doesn't it look solid cream in color? Did you roast first or something?
A brine is a salted solution. You can't give a recipe for a brine unless you explain the ratio of water to salt, which you never did.
The salad looks pretty.

looks yummy. I am English but live in Ghana. i get a bit confused about USA terms broil, Grill etc. i have a gas cooker. do i set the Grill flames at the top of the oven or do i put fish at top of oven but bake it ? worried it would burn if i put it under the grill flames ?
Broil, and grill are universal culinary terms. Broil is when the flame is from the top of the oven.

Thank you for this recipe. Twas the first time the house had mackerel (covid diet) and i trawled the net looking for tasty easy dishes. We had it with wedges and kenyan spicy cabbage.. if it was possible to eat the bones it would have been done. i'll reduce the salt tho next time..(which i had already reduced) especially for the elderly eaters.
