TREE SHAKERS - Limb Lining Catfish on the Neuse

  • The trees have leafed out and fishing is heating up! I am glad we stocked up on Hickory Shad two weeks ago, it is one of the favorite foods for Big Cats. We salted them heavily with kosher salt and cut them into thirds. The weather warmed up and we had a good rain storm causing the fish to be very active. We were able to share a bunch of these Catfish filets with friends and family and still have enough to last us into the fall. Adventure is calling! Get out there and be somebody!

    This is probably my new favorite video of yours. I have never caught big catfish like those before, let alone limb lines. The scenery there is totally different than anything I have ever been in. Beautiful area. Thank you so much for making this video. And I also wanted to say I like seeing your boat in different types of water.

    Enjoy your video. I like to catfish and set lines. Where is the boat ramp for Neuse river. Would love to try it out. Never fished up there.

    Don't take this the wrong way I know yall know what your doing, but I do a lot of catfishing hook and line and the best bet with those circle hooks is to leave them in the rod holders with the drag set and let them hang themselves and make a couple cranks in the rod holders and then pick them up and fight them. Thanks for making the videos I enjoy them.

      That make sense, I rarely go after catfish and don't use circle hooks often either. We were just killing time between checking the lines. Thanks for the feedback!

    I've never been fishing and know nothing about it. Asked my husband to take me and he laughed and said no. He's an old git... Lol.

    I’m relatively new at black drum and sheep head fishing. Your videos has taught me a lot and grieving gave me a great insight to the fishery. I have fish wants at the bridge where you fished it with no luck. I was just wondering as a newbe what is is the hook up ratio two bites versus landing a fish. I only want to know because I’m kind of discouraged😮. I really like when your children go with you. That is the Future of fishing and our heritage. I like your old ways because they are relatively new in this age of technology😊

      Hook up ratio is low most of the time. Sometime throughout the day, whether Solunar or just tide driven, the bite is on fire and the hook up ratio goes way up. Everyday is different and these fish can be frustrating. The challenge is what makes it fun.

    i found another bait source for sheephead, try using crickets sometime, cheap, available and you can rais them at home with dry pet food and transport with cut potatoes.

    I’m curious are there consumption advisories on eating catfish from the Neuse?

    • @offkilterfishing
      @offkilterfishing  Рік тому

      From what I can find, consumption advisory from the Neuse river only affects Wake County.
