Thank you for providing such informative and helpful videos. Your knowledge and expertise make you an ideal mentor and preceptor for me. I hope that in the future, you consider offering live online courses for new dialysis nurses. Your videos are extremely valuable resources for those who are new to the field. Thank you for your dedication and hard work.
Sorry I have to ask, we encourage the patients to eat proteins or carbohydrates? I know that there is a limitation about 60 g of protein per day and I am not sure if I got this right ( hence restricted kidney function to eliminate waste ). I also watched the video for cramping and I understood why we need to encourage someone who is low on protein, and how this can affect the oedema. I am just starting , , thanks a lot for your amazing videos, you are such a blessing
So how do you get them to listen when you cramp after every dialysis. And your blood pressure is always low. Spend a day puking and dizzy and you actually miss the next dialysis because you’re so sick. I have no fluid restrictions and have an ileostomy so I dehydrate super quick but no one listens to me. It’s like I’m screaming in the wind. Not to mention. I still pee. So what the heck are they actually doing to help me?! Argh!
Oh Patty my heart goes out to u! All I can say is it is ur right to dictate ur care, and ultimately ur fluid goals. I would also suggest asking for a care conference so u can all talk about ur goals and plan of care. 🫂 💡
Is it better Patty? I'm in the horrible vomiting post/during dialysis now. I think I will ask my dry weight to be elevated about 5 pounds. The intensity of the nausea and vomiting is tough.
HELLO I JUST FOUND UR UTUBE MY MOM JUST STARTED DIALYSIS AND THE AMOUNTS OF FLUID THEY TAKE OFF IS ERATIC DEPENDING YES ON WEIGHT AND WHAT NURSE SHE GETS. IS THERE A FORMULA THAT THE NURSES USE TO CALCULATE HOW MUCH FLUID U TAKE OFF? LIKE THIS # WEIGHT GAINED DIVIDED BY OR MULTIPLY BY? I HOPE THIS MAKES SENSE LOL 😂
They take her weight from today and subtract the weight from her last treatment. Weight gain between treatments should be about 2 kgs. Depending on her fluid intake and any urine output. Ask about ur moms fluid restriction

My friend's weight gain is 10kg 4days after Christmas. Feel sorry for him. He has edema from face to feet.
Poor guy. The holidays can be very tough
If someone not eating and needs protein what other alternatives
At 2:00 did you mean 1 kilo of weight equals 1 liter of fluid?

What does it means by below or above EDW?
EDW- estimated dry weight. The weight the person would be if they made a normal amount of urine
