actually incredible tip, i never see anyone talking about pulling the guitar in on other tutorials but i just tried it and got all strings to ring out. Thanks so much!!
Tysm! I was looking at many other yt videos of how to stop the pain in my hand when doing this but non of them helped..surprisingly, this short helped a lot!😭ty!❤
THANK YOU!!! Yes, at the top of my lungs, thank you. I am 51 and decided to learn how to play an instrument during covid, bc why not? I tend to pick up on things very easily and speedily, which is both a blessing and a curse, bc I often learn the basics retroactively, out of a failure to figure it out on my own. This qualifies, bc I could not play the notes with barre chords. The notes were playing as thumps, which simply does not work. It took you all of 58 seconds to change my world, in which you pinpointed exactly what my problem was and how to fix it. This level of efficiency in instruction is extremely rare, which makes you a genius in my eyes. Cheers!
Thank you. Im learning uke, but I also play the viola, so what I was doing earlier was killing my left hand endurance and I still gotta bout 1.5 hour of practicing
Thanks for the last tip that helped a lot. I usually try to only use the muscles in my thumb and first finger of my left to fret and it gets tiring after a while.
I've been playing guitar for over 20 years and never knew this trick (probably because I end up doing whatever fingering workarounds possible to avoid the dreaded barre chord). Works like a charm. My fingers and small hands thank you!
This is my problem rn. I did different position but my finger is so small that I couldnt go up or down. U all lucky to have long fingers. But I will find a way, I will never give up 😂
I wish somebody would do a lot slower on how to position your arm down. They tell you how to do how to do it but they don't really do a slow mo showing the best way for your arm to be. Some of us are a little slower than others it takes a while to grasp
Doing this makes my chords sound sharper because the neck is being pulled back. My action is reasonably low, but unless I pull this hard, everything is a ghost note
You've identified the problem correctly, you need to apply the force to the strings just to the level you get a pitch. You'll want this to be supplementary to the fingers not a complete replacement. There's some subtlety to it and certain guitar types are more vulnerable to neck bend than others, but experiment with it and over time you'll get it right. Without actually seeing your particular guitar and situation it's hard to give any advice beyond that, but continue to try to find the right balance and you will.
10yrs playing and just getting barrs down to play a whole song but damnnn Just played sitting on dock of the bay and want to chop my hand offfff That last tip about using the muscles yeh that I'm a trying cause I push the thumb so hard it's in printed in the neck, I'm a giving it 20 mins so I get my hand back 😂
Hello beloved friend! Is it normal for my hands and wrists to feel burning and numb when I play barre chords or power chords if so can doing this fix it or do you have more advice or another video? Thank you hope to hear from you soon
It should absolutely not be burning! You know what this sort of thing has come up a lot so I'll make a video tomorrow or the day after about how to hold your hands while playing, keep an eye out for that.
I always while playing end up placing my finger gaps perfectly over the strings always dead notes. My guitar is super cheap and bending the neck is easier that it should be. Ill find a way though
If I put my index finger low it mutes the D string, if I put it a little up D string sounds correct but G string mutes. It feels like there's no middle point for me
hi bro whats the name the chord this "6th fret and 5 string to 6 fret and 4 string to 6th fret and 3 string to 5 fret and 6 string to. 4th fret please help me..
I think it should be fine unless you're actually trying to bend the neck out of alignment, basically. The pressure on the neck from the strings alone can be up to like 200lb, so one would assume that you'd have to put in very considerable effort to cause damage.
Hah, you're in luck this has nothing to do with finger length! Regardless of the length of your fingers you're going to have to experiment with positioning to see what works for your hands (notice that I have to stick almost the whole tip joint of my bar finger over the top to get a good sound). Check out Sheryl Bailey for some top-tier guitar playing with small hands.
Bro I was dying before this! 🤣
Palm was frucking killing me and I knew I was doing somthing wrong
BROOOOOO. PULLING THE GUITAR IS SOOOOO HELPFULL😭😭😭😭

actually incredible tip, i never see anyone talking about pulling the guitar in on other tutorials but i just tried it and got all strings to ring out. Thanks so much!!

My medium sized hands are triggered by those long digita
Thanks for the last tip that helped a lot. I usually try to only use the muscles in my thumb and first finger of my left to fret and it gets tiring after a while.

Thanks for the tip I’ll give it a try. My hands get cramped up playing barre chords.
Does anyone else not understand what he means when he says use the muscles in your arm to pull the strings?
This is my problem rn. I did different position but my finger is so small that I couldnt go up or down. U all lucky to have long fingers. But I will find a way, I will never give up 😂

Thankyou so muchhhh😭😭😭😭😭😭 my arm was dyingggg

Some of us are a little slower than others it takes a while to grasp
You referring to left hand position? I can make a short about that
@@MikeMurrayGuitar ya. The dropping of wrist for easier playability on fretting hand
Doing this makes my chords sound sharper because the neck is being pulled back. My action is reasonably low, but unless I pull this hard, everything is a ghost note

I better put some new content out then! Working on something currently about breaking speed barriers... hopefully up in November!
Tf it literally works
Is it the lightning or your hands are just that pretty.

How many here still grinding with the guitar 🎊🎊🎊
10yrs playing and just getting barrs down to play a whole song but damnnn
Just played sitting on dock of the bay and want to chop my hand offfff
That last tip about using the muscles yeh that I'm a trying cause I push the thumb so hard it's in printed in the neck, I'm a giving it 20 mins so I get my hand back 😂
Gotta have a strong neck for this, my sg does a tremolo effect when I pull back on it
Hello beloved friend! Is it normal for my hands and wrists to feel burning and numb when I play barre chords or power chords if so can doing this fix it or do you have more advice or another video? Thank you hope to hear from you soon

My old high action guitar stopping me
Jesus H christ, you have THE longest fingers i have ever seen.
I always while playing end up placing my finger gaps perfectly over the strings always dead notes. My guitar is super cheap and bending the neck is easier that it should be. Ill find a way though
The only video that's not "Adrenal Fatigue"😅
My G string won’t sound. How do I place my finger correctly?
Broooooooooo😮
If I put my index finger low it mutes the D string, if I put it a little up D string sounds correct but G string mutes. It feels like there's no middle point for me
I think my hands are just too small😭
Im still struggling idk if i have the hands for this. Like is my finger to short? Im so lost
it helps so much thank you!
Do you barre on the fret or the strings
im trying to do this, but how you hold the guitar, i try to pull the guitar and its hurting my chest, any tips?
OMGGGGG
My thumb is dead
But the strings must be soooo light to do that, can a too high of an action prevent you to to this technique, my hand hurts help😢
You look like Keanu from John Wick😅
hi bro whats the name the chord this "6th fret and 5 string to 6 fret and 4 string to 6th fret and 3 string to 5 fret and 6 string to. 4th fret please help me..
idk what im doing wrong haha.
My thumb still hurting me
This tip is great. bar chords still sink
I prefer to hurt my hand than my guitar
How are you stabilizing the guitar with your strumming arm?
Locked in with the elbow. You shouldn't be using that much motion anyway on your strumming hand.
my question maybe dumb but does it gonna damage the guitar?
I think it should be fine unless you're actually trying to bend the neck out of alignment, basically. The pressure on the neck from the strings alone can be up to like 200lb, so one would assume that you'd have to put in very considerable effort to cause damage.
Wow. That’s man
Would be more encouranging if the guy didn't have 20 inch fingers
Hah, you're in luck this has nothing to do with finger length!
