From what I've seen: 1. You can stack pallets (9 at a time I think) and put them in the middle with the pallet jack so that you're not running back and forth all the time. 2. The contracts with 4 days to go = 50xp and 3 days to go = 40xp. 3. Focus on the tier 3 stuff as the longer contracts usually need them. 4. Store the items in the tier 2 machines rather than in storage and make the tier three stuff as you need them. Loving the series.
They don't give you options about what to do in tier one and two machines, the best course, for what i saw in te series so far, is to not make any tier three if not needed, this way the machine will be always full and you can just make what the contracts need. Oher way if there is no contracts is to sell in the market, if i'm not wrong that's why you made glass jars on the previous episode... because they have great market value.
I would have one of each machine spaced apart enough for two pallets in between them, then like you said, keep a certain amount of each item on hande by feeding only the machines you need.
