  • On this episode of The Downshift, we catch up with Monster Mike Schultz. During a snocross event in 2008, Mike had a terrible accident and was forced to have his leg amputated. He returned to action 7 months after his accident with a prosthetic leg dubbed the Moto Knee which he designed and won an X Games Silver Medal in Adaptive Moto X. In the next few years he would go on to win 4 X Games Gold Medals and has started his own company Biodapt which he helps other like him get back to what they love.

    Has to be the sickest prosthetic leg ever. Looks so futuristic. That guy has heart. I cracked a smile when I read that he won gold at the X Games.

    What an incredible guy. My dad's a leg amputee from a bike crash and I can't wait to show him this video.

    i worked for Warnert when he crashed. you cant keep Mike down, with in 2 or 3 weeks after his crash he was at the shop riding bicycle with a prosodic leg and a smile from ear to ear. he brings positive energy into any room he enters, and is always looking at the better side of things. he is true inspiration...

    You should be proud ! It´s such an inspirational story that you should have serious support behind you to make what you created available to others .
    It is such a big deal that it will save lives literaly because one person with this kind of injury sometimes not only dies emotionally but can consider suicide ....
