123 Cancer Cases: All Worked, Studied in 1 NC State Building - 8 Cancer Patients Call for Action

NC State's Poe Hall, which tested high for PCBs, has received 123 reports of cancer in people who worked or studied there. Thursday marks four months since North Carolina State State closed Poe Hall after it tested high for PCBs. In that four-month span, 5 On Your Side has received 123 reports of cancer in people who worked or studied in Poe Hall. It’s not known if the PCBs found in Poe Hall have anything to do with the cancers and many other health problems that have been reported to 5 On Your Side. However, many people who’ve come forward to WRAL News say they want more answers and acknowledgment from the university.
In a WRAL 5 On Your Side exclusive, eight women who worked or studied at Poe Hall and were later diagnosed with cancer spoke publicly for the first time. Each one says they agreed to the interview to give a voice to people who worked or learned in Poe Hall and are struggling with health issues. All are critical of the university’s handling of the closure, subsequent testing, and guidance.

When stationed in NC back in the 80’s, I purchased a mobile home. We found out that when the home would heat up from sunlight, the glue used in the partical board that was used in construction, would give off phamaldehide gas. It had a severe irritating effect on our eyes & respiratory system. Just a possible consideration that the pcb levels maybe higher under similar circumstances. Just a thought.😎👊🏼

I am one of the 8 eight women. Not that easy. Can’t sue because we can’t get in the building. The university is deceptive. Yesterday a judge ruled the university had indeed altered the environment a.k.a tampered with evidence. It’s a break we needed but we need much, much more. Please help us. Put this story on your social media. Write Chancellor Woodson. Do note donate to the University. Help us find others who were put at risk and have no idea this story affects them too.
