Eddie looked straight awful during his strongman days but he also had far less income. I'm sure the diet was worse and he was trying to pack on as many lbs as possible, even weight that was useless.

Eddie’s speed and power is really impressive, but I’m worried about that lack of head movement and defense
My worry is Ed will get emotional and maybe expose himself trying to ko Thor
It’s all arm punches, he hits very hard anyway but he’s not this mythical power puncher that people think he is. The technique isn’t there. If either Thor or Eddie were to twist their hips into their punches they’d hit twice as hard quite literally
if he can manage to roll his body similar to a ball I think the momentum could be unstoppable and no way thor could stop that
@@joshbrooker5819 It is amateur, but what techniques is there is more powerful than most boxers. Yea, if he spent the rest of his life training, he'd hit harder, doesn't mean it isn't a hard hit now.
In Thor's previous matches, he showed he's more afraid of getting hit then he is of going for openings. Eddie will be fine.

Eddie quite literally sounded like an angry dog when he was hitting the mitts: 'Woof Woof" Right Hook, "Woof" Jab Jab.
Joking aside, people need to appreciate just how crazy of an athlete Eddie is - it's not just his strength, but the guy is freakishly explosive and fast for a big man. He could have excelled in any sport, but he just happened to focus on strong man.
Eddie TKOs Thor - I like both guys, but Thor looks much slower in his sparring footage. As the saying goes "Speed Kills"
Mass accelerated is the lethal combination, one without the other is almost useless
Comparing the pad work from both of their most recent videos, Thor seems less sloppy & more skilled than Eddie.
Eddie barely keeps his hands up & displays bad habits that his coaches inexplicably don't seem to be correcting him on.
I haven’t watched a ton of these guys training but Thor looks more technical

idk man.. Eddie looks slow.. haymakers.. hands low.. Thor will take full advantage of that I expect. On the other hand, heavyweight inexperienced boxers.. it's roulette. 1 hit of either of these guys and it' s lights out. Could be over in a few seconds.
2:11 The thing that I'm most impressed with is your flexibility for a guy your size. To be able to reach that deep with a straight legged toe reach at your size takes some serious dedication. It's not always the big things that you can see, all the little things when you're performing at a high level stacks up too! Big props to not only a true BEAST, but also an athlete that really knows what it takes to perform at his best!
When Thor weighed 180kg, he could lay his whole palm against the floor standing with straight legs. Even though he is much taller ..
Yeah a common misconception is that a lot of strongmen athletes aren't flexible but it's actually the opposite; flexibility is what allows them to be that strong in the first place. Without flexibility they have a lesser range of motion, and as a result are more prone to injury
@@Firedag I 100% agree, but most of the time athletes focus more on mobility. They usually work on flexibility just enough to get them in to the range of motion needed for their sport and any flexibility gained after that is just added side-effect of their mobility training. To get to the point where you can reach 6+ inches past your toes at Strongman size takes dedicated flexibility training.

@@TheAznphoenix That's true, when I think of flexible strongmen I think of Martins Licis, and that's what I think helped him win 2019 WSM because it was mostly mobility events and Martins was very very mobile

I kind of saw this happening though his training was horrendous, he got the conditioning right (considering the massive weight), but his technique and foundations (defense???) were so piss poor.

Just go light on the sparring and start to bank that fuel for race day. It’s going to be tougher than you think, but I think you can do it. Just don’t overwork yourself ahead of this and start saving up your energy levels.. emotionally and physically. Go get em beast!🧡🔥
Also it's great to see Eddie looking so trim and healthy. He was absolutely red lining his heart carrying that extra 50kgs. Great to see him putting all his energy into something that will improve his quality of life for many years to come sans the head trauma

Been watching the past few videos in order and just saw the ones of Eddie at WSM 2017. Man is a whole different beast now, although he was a weapon then he’s looking so much healthier and dialled in now.

I commented on your videos and explained why you were going to lose. I said it was because of your training. You were still trying to be a strongman. Strongman isn’t boxing. I said that your trainers were letting you train how you wanted to train and how you thought you should and you weren’t learning and practicing the fundamentals.
Eddie seemed to have been gungho on how he pictured the fight was gonna go and probably didn't wanna listen to actual coaches....Thor on the other hand seemed to have listen to his coaches and actually followed through with it. he looked like a competent boxer.

He took training very seriously in terms of cardio, diet and strength training, but boxing wise he didn’t focus enough on technique

I'm not a boxing trainer, amateur boxer here but for me, with how Eddie is built i would like to see him use the peekaboo stance almost like how mike Tyson would box, i think it would suit him much better, it hurts to watch him with his hands down all the time

@@SRG5101 Pal, My friend and I are semi-pro boxers and we've been talking about this since day 1. I'm really glad someone else is seeing this also. The peekabo style is an absolute match made in heaven for Eddie. I've been commenting that on his videos since 2020, hoping that he'll maybe see it. If he acquired even 7-8% of tyson's style in the last 2-3 years, he would've smashed thor into bits. His team and boxing coach were mind-blowingly inept.

I think Eddie's transition to boxing has saved his life. The damage he was doing to his heart in stongman was scarey. No matter the result of the fight, both Eddie and Hafthor are winners. Having said that it will be great see Eddie knock Thor's block off lol..cannot wait :)

I am hyped for this. I believe Eddie is going to win this. He's really got better fast reflex abilities and snappy power in his punches. Plus he just seems to naturally have the pure aggression to destroy when he's focus and he's got the willingness to take risks. I think Eddie has this.
