@derekandjonathan Hi guys, we are back from Hawaii (wow, that went fast). I have to thank you again. When we arrived at Waimea Canyon, it was rainy and low cloud. Basically, we couldn't see a thing. If I hadn't seen your experience of the canyon, we probably would have left, but I remembered how things had cleared for you. If you’re expecting a ship with amusement park rides and non stop partying, you’ll be disappointed. This ship is primarily about the destination. You’ll hardly be on ship anyway. My family on here last summer and we had a great time: good food, helpful kind staff, quiet and charming ambience. I recommend highly for most efficient way to get around islands
We did this itinerary in 2024. Because we have been on bigger , newer, nicer ships. THIS ONE IS DEFINITELY NOTHING TO WRITE HOME ABOUT!!! it's about the destination. The islands are incredibly beautiful. People are so nice. We excursions on every island. From shark cage diving to helicopter rides.
Thank you so much for this video. Very informative. I have a question: Was there a place to park your rental car overnight in Maui and Kauai? Or did you have to return it to the airport both days that you were on those islands?
Hi there! Thanks so much for watching :) On Maui, we were advised by the ship crew that nearly everyone parks their rental car in the CVS/Longs Pharmacy parking lot directly across from the cruise port. They were right - we easily found a spot near the back of the lot (it will be busy, but spaces were available for us) and we had no issues walking right over to it in the morning and going on our way. The CVS is at 70 E Kaahumanu Ave. On Kauai, we again sought the advice of the crew and were told that literally everyone with a rental car parks it on the street in the neighborhood across from the cruise ship terminal. They were totally right. We parked on the side of Wilcox Rd right near the entrance of Banyan Harbor Resort along with many other people, and we were just fine in the morning. It's a quiet little residential spot very close to the terminal. Hope you have a great cruise, have fun!!
Thank you for the best, most informative video of the NCL in Hawaii that I have watched yet! Question- how did you get to each of the airports to rent your cars? Uber?
Hi there, thanks so much for watching!! Technically, I don't believe NCL actually allows drones on board. That's according to their website policies, at least. Regardless, we did bring our drone (DJI Mini 3 Pro, so small drone) on board in our camera bag. I wouldn't say we "snuck" it in. We simply brought it - there was no effort to hide it. We can only speak for our experience here and can't guarantee that you won't have any issues bringing your drone on board. We also didn't use the drone anywhere near the cruise ship or any of the ports. As for restrictions on the islands, drones are restricted in some areas (like national parks, protected areas, state parks, etc). You should research every single location where you intend to fly a drone to familiarize yourself with local restrictions.
Heading there in a few weeks and will be sailing on Pride of America. Appreciate the video of the things you did while visiting! At what time did you typically return your rental car and did you park the car overnight?
Hi there! Thanks so much for watching :) We generally returned the rental cars at the last possible moment lol - about 30/45 minutes before the all aboard time. We inadvertently cut it really close in Kona but we made it! Be ready to order that uber as soon as you drop the rental car off and also be open to hopping in a cab if you see one.
