Thanks for this, Gents! For my part, I haven't been a Kemper user, but I will be now. The Profiler Stage seems like exactly the kind of product I've been wanting, especially for live performance. Can't wait to get my hands on one! I'd love to see you guys do more videos on this unit.
Finally got my Stage. Been using the toaster + remote for gigs for the past two years and now with the Stage I can literally set up and tear down in 5 minutes as opposed to 20+. It fits on my Pedaltrain Novo 24 with my line 6 wireless unit and mission expression pedal perfectly. And for simpletons like me who can’t figure out how to get a good tone from the Helix, just want to find a good tone and make some minor effect tweaks... the Kemper is the way to go.
I've been a helix user for a year and a half now. I loved the kemper concept, but it was just so big and heavy to gig with, now i can finally look to buy the kemper stage
The stage is the Kemper deal breaker, bought yesterday I have a pristine Helix floor for sale. Compared to the Kemper the Helix sounds like I'm playing with dull strings, the Kemper brings out the upper harmonics, sounds richer
Danish Pete killing me again! Great tone and feel! It may not have the sexiness of the Helix due to the screen, and lack of onboard foot pedal, but the tonal difference is undeniable. From what I've heard and seen of Helix users blind testing these 2 units head to head, hands down choose the Kemper for feel of playing, and most often tone quality over the competitors. I'm getting the Kemper Profiler Stage!
I bought this product from Andertons and when I gave them an average review on Feefo, strangely enough, my review wasn't published on the Andertons website. My gripe was that they had sent out an item (costing almost £1449) for delivery just in the original Kemper box - with no additional protection or packaging. This seemed lazy to me and I told them so. Now that I know that the Feefo reviews are vetted for negative comments, I will not be buying from Andertons again.
I agree your review should have been published but if the kemper was sent safely from their factory, why would it need any more packaging? Especially in this day and age with the environment
Wow very interesting bit of kit. To reduce weight for gigging I modified a 1988 Fender Red Knob Princeton chorus and dropped 2x g10 vintage 80s sounds more like an ac15 than fender now but quarter weight wish I could afford one of these cheers for showing us Pete and Captain👍
Torben Meldgaard there’s not really any point - the Kemper Stage is EXACTLY the same tech & sound as a regular Kemper. There are loads of Kemper vs Helix videos out there already, so just watch one of those. 🤘🤘
It's 47cm wide and a rack width is 48cm wide. It's just under 2u rack space high. Gonna try putting this in the studio on a 2u slide out. You reckon Kemper planned this?
@@dylanlbdb just realised the rack screw mounts take up too much space so you've actually only got 45cm to fit something, damn haha. BUT get a 1u slide tray and mount it upside down... so the kemper sits on top of it filling up a further 2u, so 3u all together. Then all you do it take out the screw mounts in that 2u space and BAM a slide out tray with a Kemper stage on top that fits perfect & takes up 3u (same as the rack) then just unplug and take to gigs. Sorted
Great demo and introduction. I have the toaster and I’m proud to be a Kemper user for sure. K Kemper seems to make logical decisions regarding design and the tones are right.
Long time Kemper user here - The Kemper will only sound as good as the profile being played. Think of a Profile as a snapshot of a amp tone. There are good profiles and there are bad profiles. Also, the Kemper needs the correct kind of output speaker to be appreciated. At low volume that would be quality near-field monitors. My Kemper with Michael Britt profiles and some decent Focal near-fields sounds so good I get misty eyed thinking about it.
Exactly what I’m working with. Haha. I have the Kemper rack mount with focal monitors. Mine are the older Focal CMS 65. I have some larger PA speakers connected as well if I want to just play louder, but the tone is more accurate on the Focal’s.
I'm so glad i haven't bought the rack mount yet, this looks a much more diverse unit. However, it would be cool to see a blindfold challenge again to see if there is any anomalies that you don't get in rack mount unit.
Cool. Must admit I’m a kemper noob and I always thought that you had to buy profiles from 3rd parties in order for the unit to work. I didn’t realise that kemper does ship with preset profiles which I thought sounded pretty good! I think I’ll consider this! Looks great for live! Thanks for clarifying Andertons!
Catherine Faulkner more than that you can download hundreds of free profiles in the Rig Manager. Nonetheless you‘ll get the best profiles for some money (MBritt, TopJimi, Tonejunkie etc)
Holtermarvin thanks! Ill look into this ! Always put me off with the thought of having to pay for 3rd party but actually the stock sounds were decent! Thanks for the advice!
Another great part is that there are free profile packs by some of the big names that are great for teasers. Some of my favorite clean and crunch are the free MBritt profiles he did, and the best Morgan profile I've heard is a free one made by just some guy with a Kemler and Morgan amp. So yeah, 3rd party stuff can absolutely be amazing, but there are plenty of wonderful free presets when first buying.
I think that Andertons's took it down. Did they just decide decide to take it down because of the negative comments or did Jeorge Tripps ask them to take it down? We'll probably never find out. It's a shame really because understanding the root cause of the problems could have been a valuable learning experience for many of us whether it be in terms of recording experiences or pedal buying experiences
I was planning on going with Fractal when they finally put out the FM3, but this looks a lot easier to use, more futureproof, and is an actual product that has been shipped. I always thought the heads/rack units were ugly but putting it on the floor, visible only to myself, fixes that.
So... they waited for me to buy a Helix before bringing this out :( I don't know if I could turn up to practice with one of these anyway. My bandmates already call the Helix 'The Spaceship'.
Also, just looking at the front panel, I'm not sure I could be bothered to learn it. I'm sure a million Kemper users will say it's not hard, but the learning curve is a little daunting.
Somehow I missed this product and this video but some pro friends of mine are highly recommending it. I’ve been really happy with my Helix....can it sound better than a Helix....?🤔
Yeah, Im one of the guys on the fence.. this, or a Fender Bassbreaker 30r with a Helix Stomp in the loop/fx return. Tough choice as both gives a lot of options. The amp/hx combo still seems more flexible to me, for less dough, but the Kemper seems to have an edge on the sound..
I have owned the toaster Kemper for a year and I haven't seen the remote floor pedal for it separately for sale on Andertons or Thomann. I'm a very technical person but for me, the Kemper is too confusing.
Ditched my helix and got me one of these kemper stage i always wanted to own a kemper but for traveling musician i dont to bring the rack or the toaster plus a floor controller. dont get me wrong i like the helix but the kemper stage is way better even the effects are sick !!! Its like stymons on steroids
They must be doing something right as I'm looking at this when I was previously eyeing a Mesa California Tweed. No reason for the comparison apart from the similar price point and not really having a live requirement. I've been an Access Virus owner for years and love what they did there.
I’m new to Kemper. Is this kinda like the Helix, where there are effects inside the unit? Reverb, Delay, Distortion, Chorus, etc? Or should you get pedals to get those things?
So I can take this and hook it up to my mig 50 or my orange cr120 like a normal multi effects board and use it like that to get different amp sounds? Sorry if it's a dumb question.
I like it and I guess I'm glad I waited... I've been looking all over to see how (and if) it can be used to create profiles. From what I can tell it can??? I don't see a mic input as on the previous models so I'm curious how it goes about making them, if it does... If it does make them, then I'm in.
I would love you guys to prank Mick and Dan at that Pedal Show, offer them a chance to blast through the "Top End" amps of Anderton's and keep switching "amps" until they twig the sound is coming from the same place each time no matter which amp is selected!
Helix vs Kemper.... Well Fx are a dfferent story but when it comes to amp modeling, with TWEAKING, you can make one sound identical to the other. To properly compare them you have to understand a few things first. the reason the two sound different is the way they model amps, kemper is basically a sample of a real amp that is known to sound good already, while helix models the circuitry of a amplifier for a schematical perspective. so imagine lets say its modeling a plexi, well it would be like a brand new plexi right out of the box and not broken in, out of 10 brand new plexi's it would sound like the average of them, not the one that sounds best. thats why you have to tweak the power/sag and eq effects of the amp in order to properly compare it with a kemper, because the kemper is a sample of a broken in and warmed up amp run at the correct voltage (110/220 etc), and most likely the best amp out of say 10 off the line.... Theres downsides to both. For the Helix it means you have to tweak it. The downside for the kemper is, when you want to tweak it or change the eq, its like manipulating a wav file on a track, so when i add bass or take away treble, it will react like using the eq on a mixer, where as the helix models the circuitry and potentiometers of the original amp and you will get a different sound effect. to better explain that imagine this, if i have a real plexi in the room and i turn up or down the bass knob, you should know that it sounds completely different then if i leave the bass knob in place and just alter the bass with a parametric eq pedal. Also the kemper will have a hard time mimicing the amp when different input gains are applied(ex: turning your guitar volume down to 6 or 7 on a cranked plexi gives you an awesome clean tone). To sum it up, the kemper models an amp at its peak performance at the point in time where it was captured (where the knobs were set) but a helix can model the organicness of an amp
#KlimperProton
I used to drive a 1985 Klimper Proton.... terrible car. The springs on the back were completley shot,, but that's another story. #KlimperProton
Storm Kemper, they can’t stop us all #KlimperProton
Can i trade in my Kemper rack for one of those? x)
As an all-in-one unit this is a #KlimperProton pack, right? #Ghostbusters
I'll #KlimperProton and 'er Ducked Clean Trem. Know what I mean, Squire? Wink, wink, nudge, nudge. Say no more!

Just a guess but they might of shipped it directly from Kemper. A lot of businesses do this
stevesxbmb2 great for them! They just get rid of one annoying client. 😊✌🏻
Gibson guitars are shipped exactly the same way all the way from the states. So whats the problem?

Just want to point out that I got an ad for riff city guitars closing and it made me sad.

Theres a letter saying that they can't compete anymore and because Chapman Guitars were being sold from Guitar Center, they lost alot of market share.
really sad. Joe & co were very great to deal with
who gets ads on youtube anymore? #SmellsLikeBrokeInHere
Oh no! I just bought a guitar there. Good service great price.
You have GOT to make a comparison against the Helix!
WHY!
I think with Helix 2.8 it’s a lot closer now! I don’t think I can tell the difference from what people are using on videos now anymore.

Floor model should have a built-in wah/ volume pedal to one side of the board.
No..Why? You have four inputs in the back where you can just add a pedal if you want.
Great for regularly gigging musicians and or someone wanting to get in on the Kemper world and save a few $ over the Rack or head/Remote bundles.

Do Kemper make the user interface awful for a reason ?
franki68 for you to focus on playing guitar ;)

Kemper sells a separate DI box. Do you need this if running direct into a PA system?
If there are XLR outs then no you don’t have to use a DI but you can run it through a DI if you use the 1/4 inch out
so you need a power amp to have this working?
