I recently bought a Hitachi LED and returned it to get a "standard" LCD. My experience with the LED was washed-out colors and a "hazey" look to the overall picture. It also suffered from all 4 corners being extra light (very noticeable in dark scenes). I replaced it with a Vizio LCD and have been smiling since. Everything is crisper, richer, more vibrant and evenly lit. I realize that beyond preference, the brand and model play a role, and some individual sets are just plain defective. thanks!
@Yoyoredman Not at all, its just better and sharper. I have a GL 2250 LED screen and a LCD. When I turn my LCD on to full brightness my LED screen still apears brighter and thats because it is much sharper and better.
@TRUENGLISHMAN yes-- contrast dyn 20.000.000 :1 , DVI, 2x HDMI, Jack, Line In, Line Out, VGA , 8ms GTG 24 inch and for comparison with my gl2240-- contrast dyn 12.000.000:1 , DVI, Jack, Line In, VGA , 5ms, 21.5 inch the rest is up to you.
@jony1710 Back lit LED monitors can vary brightness but they are professional grade and very expensive, and rare enough that I cant even remember one. Your of the shelf monitor LED will be an edge lit so its single brightness only. Its crystal LED or OLED that will turn of completely for black but you'd have to mortgage your house to buy one, large size OLED are due to come out later this year.
@andyp315 LED's are more direct with their lighting rather than just having large back lights to light the whole panel so they can turn of and provide better blacks as well as purer whites. Well, thats what i was told, i'm not an expert.
@jony1710 If you believe that you have no idea how a LCD panel works. LED gets higher contrast rations because the LEDS are whiter than CCFL not because they go darker, and manufacturers have been getting more and more ridiculous with their ratios, some even use screen off to rate their contrast. Its the same panels in front of the back lights as long as they are the same brightness the leak through will be the same.
@TRUENGLISHMAN yes true it is better than my gl2240 but is also double the money. but my point here is that i payed approx. 100$ more for the LCD and the result is better on the LED.
LCD kicks ass, the picture is far superior...Plasma, LCD LED whats the point. I also find that LCD tv's have a better sound, we also have a new LCD LED it has an unappealing picture and the sound is insipid. My 5 year old LG 42" is an ass kicker of a telly, pitty the main board has crapped out on me.
both are LCD panels, just the backlight is different. Marketing use the term "LED Display" instead of "LED backlit display" to trick people. A real LED display would look like a CRT or Plasma display, if calibrated correctly.
@midgetcv It looks like you may have misunderstood Karry299's point on #1. Whether a person likes one monitor over the other or cares is irrelevant, the title of the video is incorrect. That's perpetuating misinformation (even though unintentional). It is a CCFL LCD vs LED LCD. Backlighting vs Backlighting, not Backlighting vs Display Type.
@r3tr0gam3r1337 In a HDTV it doesnt matter, Plasma still produces a better picture than any LED/LCD panels out there bar OLED. CCFL is still the better backlighting. Thats why all the top end IPS from NEC and whatnot dont use LED
1. they are both LCD, what you meant is CCFL vs LED. 2. comparison between such cheap models is useless 3. Especially on standard mode on different brands. if they were from the same line, but with different backlights - then you might see which does which 4. people who professionally work with graphics actually prefer CCFL backlights, as i learned. but they prefer professional CRTs even more.
@karry299 I am going to answer you on this. 1. Most people don't know or they are not interested so they buy the one the like. 2. comparison between such cheap models is not useless because money don't grow in trees in real world. 3. maybe some people like there monitors brighter or no so bright . and nr 4 is just to remind me that you don't own a good monitor . :)))) The Video is for INFO not for advertisement oooo LCD is better then LED or vice versa .
@niels592 you have only one upload :)) i know that you can't see because you spend 1100$ and more for one display but other people do buy because there cute and the point of the video is "if you dont have money for the medium buget you can go with the low buget" in some short words
@niels592 OK i will repeat 1 Most people don't know."not everybody is a geek" or they are not interested so they buy the cute one 2 comparison between such cheap models is not useless because money don't grow in trees in real world for example i earned 300$ this month 3 maybe some people like there monitors brighter or no so bright and nr 4 is just to remind me that you don't own a good monitor The Video is for INFO not for advertisement....ex:oo LCD is better then LED or vice versa
SO LAME there is no such difference in ccfl and led, its different cuz its a benq and an older lg... any two LED backroind lcd monitors may have that much difference...
@r3tr0gam3r1337 Ummm because when manufacturers refer to LED, theyre talking about backlight technology and not the panel? Its still an LCD display, only using an LED backlight instead of CCFL. Funnily enough, you dont know your shit. LED displays are the gigantic screens you see on concerts and events. They are made up of actual LEDS and are not designed with picture quality in mind.
@niels592 oh and to show you that i am cooler i bought a 200$ monitor and a 1000$ for a yamaha motor bike. and a 1000$ yamaha is cooler and cute er then a dell monitor and more usefull
Well pointless video. This kind of topic should be resolved by the testers impressions or/and test results backed up by some video juste for the form, here you have just done a useless video showing nothing pertinent at all. Even the screen on the left that very clearly needs the excessive blue removing by some minimal calibration may in fact implie the opposite to the other screen relatif to how poor the camera you'r using is. How can you even think of using thoses screens.

@Yoyoredman LED's can get closer to true black, CCFO's suck at blacks. I would say that's better image quality.
@TRUENGLISHMAN yes true it is better than my gl2240 but is also double the money. but my point here is that i payed approx. 100$ more for the LCD and the result is better on the LED.
i understand ur doing a comparison but to have a accurate result u would need the same tv brand
left one seems to have horrible black crush. or is it just camera angles?
The LED is not clearer, just brighter. Both have same image quality but the LED has wetter brightness.
How did you get your picture on two different screen as the same time
@TRUENGLISHMAN no it is full metal alchemist 2
LCD kicks ass, the picture is far superior...Plasma, LCD LED whats the point.

@niels592 everyone has the wright to an opinion and to express there feelings on the subject.

although the led have more vibrant colors the whites are very crappy compared to the lcd
The one on the right is better I know because I have both and the LCD is better
@midgetcv nice explenation
LED consumes less watt and imo nowadays it might even be better than lcd.
Love me some FMA xD

I'm only here for the Fullmetal Alchemist.
@niels592 same here.
@niels592 read comments down below before calling me or anyone else a "fool".

@niels592 oh and to show you that i am cooler i bought a 200$ monitor and a 1000$ for a yamaha motor bike. and a 1000$ yamaha is cooler and cute er then a dell monitor and more usefull
