:( this one makes me so sad, those were the best of the best GE turbines of the early 70's. with the pinicale of Mechinacal governor controls the "toshiba" banner leads me to believe the HP/IP section were upgraded from original GE that Control Valve enclosure on deck was a rare option. I would love to be able to go through those levers and links again. I couldn't pick out any thing to determine the location though. sure would like to know if that is one I did work
@No WAY if this power plant is near natural gas pipe line only thing that they have to replace is the boiler,s for the turbines are the same as the ones that are in a natural gas fired plant
The plant was around the end of it's operational lifespan when it closed. Gas repowering might have only squeezed an additional decade or so out of it.
Very cool .. i love industrial derelicts, the bigger the better !
Agreed. I like exploring just about every kind of location above or below ground but I'll happily spend all day in a big industrial place like this.

Gibson still has those style of turbines
Was the orange light from window tint or sunlight?
It appeared to be paint or something.
Depending on where this power.plant is located it could be converted to natural gas so people can still have a JOBS
