Poison is the complete package. Any band that can put out music thats still feel good relevant music 40 years later says it all. Their videos are still fun to watch with all their energy and on stage presence still works. ❤
I would love to see Poison. If I had driven 4-5 hours I could have on the stadium tour last year. However, I got to see Bret on his Parti-Gras tour this year and he was absolutely amazing. He opened his set with this. Felt like I was back in college watching MTV.
I was 17 when this song came out in 1986. It was the decade of debauchery and decadence and it still surprises me that I made it out alive and more or less in one piece.
I have to imagine nobody “directed” it because there is no cohesive theme to it. They just got drunk and shot several passes of the whole song, and then later someone edited different clips from different takes together to make what you see here.
I was in class when my friend Robbie came by my desk and showed me this cassette, '' Dude! Check these guys out, they are called Poison, they just came out!'' We listened to that cassette for days!!
The eighties was all about a good time. The world was good in a young man's mind. You are either pissed off or just wanting to have a good time and the good time was usually with a girl. Fast forward to 2021 and we are all just pissed off and bitter about every fucking thing. When I first hear Poison I was playing a lot of Sabbath and ACDC which is really fun and good to play but damn. Then it was a whole new ballgame from the drab into the land of glam. even the ballads sounded good.
Ive always thought C.C's guitar work captured the rock n roll spirit, it always seemed to have a sense of fun with just the right amount of notes to get to the point and keep it catchy and memorable
CC is awesome and had a style that no one could touch. I did find it funny during the stadium tour that Poison was the favorite over studio bands like Def Leppard and Crue. Glad to see though. Couldn't stand the nonsense back in the day saying just because they looked good meant they couldn't play
I’m 47 now. But I would like to give CC a shout out. This was the first guitar solo I learned. I was 11. And I drove my parents crazy on my crap Peavey T-15 and the amp built in the case.

My parents were the strictest in my small town but they would let me go to any concert with people they had never met and I never ever understood that but never said a word. Memphis is 2 hours from my home and I saw just about every hair band you can think of between 1987&1991. Saw these pros twice and would go again. I make videos about color theory and I can never get over how well poison used green and purple in their early era. That electric green bass on the predominantly purple stage lighting is so iconic.
I saw a documentary done on hair bands once and they were talking about how nobody ever talks about the music, just what hair bands looked like and they were doing clips of guys saying stuff and he said, "nobody knows I trained under Isak Pearlman." Like the guy was musically talented it's just nobody takes this stuff seriously. Don't know why, I'd say these hair bands were all more talented than shit done today. Like at least they played instruments and wrote and did music.

80's so hit it with ROCK. Hell, the 80's hit it with most all genres of music.......I was so fortunate to be late teens and early twenties in the 80's to really enjoy it to the max.
Top 40 stations didn't usually give harder rock groups as much of a fair shake but this one was an exception. They had ten hits, six making the top 10 and one "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" spent three weeks at #1. They did excellent.

Y'all if you own a guitar you have no excuse not to learn this song. It's so easy, and so fun. That long pick slide in the beginning gets me every time
@@harryhoffer9804 no lie, I played guitar hero before I learned real guitar and the skills 100% carry over. If you play on expert mode, get a real axe and try it out. Your picking and fretting hands already moving independently give you an insane leg up
When this came out, none of us "true" metalheads would ever admit to liking it, but we all secretly did. Looking back, I would trade 100 of today's bands (of any genre) for any 80's-era Poison, RATT or Dokken.
+Hiroshi13 Don't put Dokken in the same league like this garbage...George Lynch's got more talent on his own than Poison all together! It's like comparing White Lion and the mighty Van Halen!!!I'm 44 now,and at 14 i knew that bands like Motley Puke,Poison and shit like that were just a bunch of "manufactured boys bands holding guitars" lolHi from France :)
I wanted to see them in concert so bad when I was younger and still at 42 I would love u see them. Never been to a concert in my life and that shows how busy I am on a daily basis. Every time I hear this song though it takes me back to how many times I’d rewatch this video over & over again🌹🥰this is one of my favorites of theirs💯
If you like this song, that's a good indication that your heart is beating and you are alive! Music like this never gets old. I was 12 when this song came out. I am now 47, and I still sing loud and proud when this song plays. Also, you absolutely know you're watching a Poison music video when the guitarist crams as many guitars as humanly possible into 1 song.
CC Deville's guitar collection is just insane. The fact that he still has a working GMP V series is like one of the biggest flexes out there (I want that guitar).
Went to their concert tour ‘Look What the Cat Dragged In’ in LA 1986. I was 14 with my 15yrs old friend who’s 17 yrs old sister dated Poison’s ex drummer who took us back stage. It was amazing to see them there in their glam gear, all so cool, although we all were dressed like that with big hair and crazy make up 😂 Wish I could go back in time and experience it again. At the time it seemed just so normal 😂

Jason Kostelecky funny thing is parents now who grew up in the 80’s would probably love a boyfriend who listens to Poison instead of contemporary (c)rap
I first time saw Poison was in a hole-in-the-wall club in Anaheim, CA. I think a friend's band was opening for them. They took the stage, and opened with Smokin' in the Boys Room. Right away, we knew these guys were going somewhere. This was shortly before Motley Crue's Theater of Pain album came out--I get the sense that the Crue liked what Poison was doing with Smokin', and remade it as their own before Poison got a record deal. The next them I saw them was at the Troubador a few weeks later. David Lee Roth was sitting alone at the bar at the front of the place. Poison had grown by leaps and bounds in a very short time. The place was packed and rockin'! They came back to the OC, and played the Golden Bear. For whatever reason, we didn't have enough money to get in, but we ran into the band at the Jack-in-the-Box a few doors down on PCH. They were totally down to Earth, and spent some time chatting with us, telling the story of how they drove from PA to play the LA scene. I saw them once more just after their album came out, but never saw them in an arena. Good times and big hair!
I just saw them Friday night here in SoCal, kicking off the new tour. Came in about half way through Cheap Trick - they were great. Robin can still sing pretty well. Poison kicked ass, Big Time. Bret is still a great front man. So glad we went. Go to this tour, you will not be disappointed.
@@Jedi_Mistress A bunch of idiots taking drugs, getting killed, killing themselves, killing others because of being stupid and irresponsible like drink driving which is what Vince Neil did and he killed the drummer for Hanoi rocks. Stop putting a rose tint on history. Half of these bands have either lost members back in the 80s because of drugs and alcohol or became drug addicts later in life so it's not all fun and games and it wasn't that either. Alot of musicians from that time say they regret doing drugs and messing their lives up, and the people who say it was all great and fun are liars that don't want to admit that they fucked up and were stupid.

Poison always delivered simple tunes, but compared to what's mainstream now, almost every Poison song is a masterpiece.
totally agree
100% man!
hahahahahahahaha
wait you're serious? let me laugh even harder
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
eeww no this song sucks this band sucks i just hate rock music in general tho
Top 40 stations didn't usually give harder rock groups as much of a fair shake but this one was an exception. They had ten hits, six making the top 10 and one "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" spent three weeks at #1. They did excellent.
They were awesome!
I'm 14 and I can't stop rocking to 80s metal I just can't. Long live hair metal. 80s is the best music era ever. 🤘🤘
Never wrong time (or age) to rock 🤘🏼
@@febreze1011 So true!
Living through the 80s was the absolute best
I'm 55 I lived the 80's. I still love all of it. Real rock baby!!
@@pinklady2767 Sooo True! Poison Rocks! 100%
I remember seeing this song on mtv In new Zealand back in the day.I was instantly hooked, bough the cassette and thrashed the he'll out of it.Thanks for coming to play in nz In 89.Great memories.
Y'all if you own a guitar you have no excuse not to learn this song. It's so easy, and so fun. That long pick slide in the beginning gets me every time
Yessssss
Does Guitar Hero III count?
@@harryhoffer9804 no lie, I played guitar hero before I learned real guitar and the skills 100% carry over. If you play on expert mode, get a real axe and try it out. Your picking and fretting hands already moving independently give you an insane leg up
No, this is definitely NOT an easy song! If you want to play it exactly like the recording, you have to be good at a lot of techniques on the guitar!
@@verdun1916 aight the rhythm guitar is easy. I can’t solo to save my life
When music was fun.and not so serious.... take me back already
Hello, how are you doing? It’s really nice meeting you here.
I love how CC doesn't give a shit to even try to look like he's playing for the video
When this came out, none of us "true" metalheads would ever admit to liking it, but we all secretly did. Looking back, I would trade 100 of today's bands (of any genre) for any 80's-era Poison, RATT or Dokken.
+Hiroshi13 I am a huge metal fan..then and now...and never denied liking glam rock...the genre of the most chicks..count me in...haha
+bucky468 how can you put Nback in the same sentence as ANY rock act - they are 100% dogshit
back in the day, the stage show meant something..rock was fun..now its whiney kids mad at the world
bucky468 spot on!!!
Takes me back to when I had my "guy friends Terry and Brian"
ngl you could talk dirty to me any time
Needs a billion views...an 80's classic
If you like this song, that's a good indication that your heart is beating and you are alive! Music like this never gets old. I was 12 when this song came out. I am now 47, and I still sing loud and proud when this song plays. Also, you absolutely know you're watching a Poison music video when the guitarist crams as many guitars as humanly possible into 1 song.
I know what you mean! I was 13 and the 80's were and will always be the best. ♥️
CC Deville's guitar collection is just insane. The fact that he still has a working GMP V series is like one of the biggest flexes out there (I want that guitar).
52 still love it
I was 24 when this song released.
I'm 48 now and just heard this twice this week. Never gets old.
man I'd do anything to be back in the 80s
Me too Buddy!!
Went to their concert tour ‘Look What the Cat Dragged In’ in LA 1986. I was 14 with my 15yrs old friend who’s 17 yrs old sister dated Poison’s ex drummer who took us back stage. It was amazing to see them there in their glam gear, all so cool, although we all were dressed like that with big hair and crazy make up 😂
Wish I could go back in time and experience it again. At the time it seemed just so normal 😂
CC was magic on that guitar.
Hit it C.C (that intro sounds so cool)
Takes me back to my junior year of high school. Racing around in my buddy’s lifted Dodge Ramcharger. Those were really carefree, fun days. Almost an adult, but not expected to assume the trappings of adult life. I really miss that time in my life.
I grew up in the eighties and loved every minute of fun Love the band Poison and their music always and forever Rock on Guys
I cannot listen to this song and remain sitting still!!!

Awesome! They remind me of The New York Dolls and the song is similar to NYD's "Personality Crisis" from 1973.
Seen them on this concert tour. Good times! Dam I feel kinda old . ❤😂

Jason Kostelecky funny thing is parents now who grew up in the 80’s would probably love a boyfriend who listens to Poison instead of contemporary (c)rap

easily my favorite song from poison, such an energy
Love the look, the attitude, the hair, the clothes,... LOVE THE 80s. Proud to be born in that decade!!
Hello how are you doing it’s nice meeting you here.
The guitar riffs man. Love this song
These guys had some moves!
Perfect mix of great music and great entertainment! I loved it in the 80s and I love it now!
One of the coolest songs evah 🎶🌟

*Nostalgia* We had real music in the 80's
*Melancholy* We had real drugs in the 80's

real music started it’s death in the 80s
You have some talent come out of it, but substance went to die.
The 90s was incredible for music
@@braidenbaker5588 I was talking about the musicians in the 80s but yeah I mean it works both ways
I love how they look like they're really having fun while filming music video and it doesn't look all forced like nowadays
It's because it WAS FUN! The entire decade was fun on steroids. You have no idea.
Very good point 👌
@@Jedi_Mistress At least, it was, until the PMRC came along.
I believe they were
@@Jedi_Mistress A bunch of idiots taking drugs, getting killed, killing themselves, killing others because of being stupid and irresponsible like drink driving which is what Vince Neil did and he killed the drummer for Hanoi rocks.
This album was great then, Still great now. I always crank it when this stuff comes on the radio..... And they still kick ass....
One of my fav bands back in the day & still are.. hit it C.C
