A GUIDE TO THE 2000's YOUNG HOLLYWOOD CLUB SCENE

- Would we have Paris Hilton without the the club? Would the 2000s still have that breathless, near-death atmosphere if it wasn’t for Hyde, Teddy’s or Les Deux? No, no we wouldn’t. The club is an essential part of the y2k cultural organism: it’s where you would go if you were a celeb and had a dispute to settle; it’s where you would go if you were an upstart in LA and were trying to climb the sticky social ladder of the city of angels; it’s where you would go when you wanted to let your head go, feel the moment and get your picture taken. As Nicole Richie described it in her 2005 book The Truth About Diamonds, "The nightclubs of LA are like soap operas. There's always some bizarre drama that plays out every single night, and everyone in the cast-I mean, everyone-is great looking.”
Whether you were an actor looking for something a little intimate or a celebutante looking to flash your intimates, West Hollywood was guaranteed to have something for you as long as you guaranteed to have something for them: a club is only as popular as it’s guests. Drama almost always went down on weeknights, which were considered "celebrity nights" at the hottest locales. That's because most working people can’t afford or manage to go out drinking and dancing until 4 a.m. on what would normally be a work night…better for the celebs, as they had to deal with less random and had more time to pick fights and write dirty words on the bathroom wall.
In the club scene’s heyday, there was a group of major players who, give or take a few here and there, were guaranteed to be out craving to taste the ecstasy of the bright lights. There was the major league players like Lindsay, Paris, Nicole & Kim but the Young Hollywood scene was made up of so many more characters than just those 4 and the personalities that came together during that time really created a magical world that existed just on the brink of internet, giving us enough that we felt satisfied and craved more but not too much so we got bored.
Whether they were captured getting burned at the door or laughing manically to a sad, drugged up monologue, the stars always knew how to make a scene at the club and the club returned the favour by providing handfuls of paparazzi ready to take your photo at a moment’s notice.

They didn’t let Britney in? BRITNEY? I’m having a hard time imagining a world where BRITNEY of all people gets turned down at the door. The audacity.
As if, Britney is a queen. This guy is mistaken.
It was probably during the time where it was cool to hate Britney
@@cymonescurio When was there ever a time when it was cool to hate Britney?? What did she do to anyone?
Villa opened post conservatorship. Britney wasn't allowed to go clubbing. It was probably Lindsay that got denied cause of Sam
@@clementine9187 2007
the era of lindsay lohan, mary kate and ashley, raven and hillary duff will never be topped
gwaallll and dont u know it!!!!! U need to be the one making these videos btch NOT me! hyding my chair with my bony ass as we speak ;D xoxoxo love ya! ;D
@@POPICANA lmaooo i love your content so much!!!
The life I dreamed of living in my early 20s as a college student since middle school and then covid hit featuring stressed and depressed friends 😔
Gurl you are not a LA girl, relax
@@trump2409 Who said I was talking about LA?
@@NadezdaBeka sorry i was wrong
The reason I became a club rat is because I grew up reading about my fav 2000s it girls clubbing almost every day
What’s it like? I’ve always wanted to go clubbing for the same reasons but I just know it wouldn’t have the same vibe cause we live in totally different times now and music doesn’t have the same feel
@@vl2663 yeah, but we can bring back the vibes though. We can make it like that. And call a lot of paparazzi to give those vibes idk of course it I’ll be like how they are now but we as a generation should bring it back
@@no-one00 true. Now that the 2000's are trendy wouldn't surprise me if I saw "influencers" doing what you just said
Me too I was in the club Thursday through Sunday partying up and everybody dancing with no care in the world
@@vl2663 Just go clubbing for the sake of it, it's really fun. Just keep in mind to look out for yourself, have friends to go with you and back you up and make sure you go somewhere safe afterwards. Don't drink too much and be wary of the possibility of getting drugged. Safest bet is to buy your own drinks and only receive drinks if you know you can trust the person. I might sound like a party pooper but you really do need to take these precautions when clubbing.
I feel like I still want to hear more about that time when lindsay was with samantha 🧐
coming up bubs, coming up! but if u cant wait, u can always find the vids of lindsay spaced out outside samanthas house on yt...nothing better than lindsay on the abstract dont u think?!!! XDD
I heartily second this!!!
@@POPICANA I used to follow her as I was also running a fan blog on Paris 🤣 she was looking extremely skinny too at the time…I remember really worrying about her🙄firecrotch forever ♥️
@@POPICANA omg!!!What about the russian fiancé!!she’s too much
Not me being so interested and nostalgic with 2000s club scene when on the same type, I'm a type of shy person who would never go to club. 😂😂
I wish I was an adult during the 2000s.
It was not all that great, but considering the past few years I can imagine why you feel that way
@@AmyB369 True, I've watched a few videos on the dark side of the 2000s. But still prefer this time period more than now. The party scene seemed more fun. But like every decade, it has it's pros and cons.
These times were iconic ✨ thanks for the memories babe
literally bubs, iconic only begins to graze the cnt that was served 10 years back...how we miss it!!!
Missing the viper room and the Château Marmont but yessss!
I used to devour the actual magazines that detailed these antics as a kid lol.
I think that you would do a great video about the Bling Ring Gang
omg two videos in one day tho?! what’d we do to deserve this bestie 😩🤍🤍
what u did michelle?????? u did more than u ever had to do!!! im telling u sis!!! u, me, the old hag down the street, we need to go out and buy u a harem of beautiful women XDD becauuuuseeee MICHELLE. DESERVES. IT. U ALWAYS deserve more than u think bubs, NEVER forget it. love ya! ;D
I love when you make videos like these, pop history is the best type of history!!
Omg this video haha UA-cam did a good job recommending this to me! I have actually been thinking of this time lately and YES it makes me feel so nostalgic! I lived in NoHo at the height of this Hollywood club era. The best nights to go out were definitely week nights. I went to sound nightclub about a month ago and it tripped me out remembering what it used to be was when le deux was there. During this time there was also a club called mood (omg you mentioned it!!) on hollywood blvd it was where a lot of sports stars and hip hop artists would hang out. One time after a night there we ended up at ja rules house in Encino 😂 haha there were so so many weirdos and coke heads in the Hollywood hills in the area Paris Hilton lived. LAX was actually called L-A-X like the airport! I agree it was kind of a crappy little club. Such a weird time for clubs I remember how some clubs that actually sucked like Hyde would be acting so “exclusive” It was definitely a thing to make up long lines for no reason other than to make everyone even celebs feel inferior. Some other clubs I remember like that were privilege and also prey. It was honestly a super toxic and strange drama and drug filled time in pop culture. The paparazzi were also super scary in this time! I had a work study scholarship at millennium dance complex where Britney was rehearsing her comeback after head shaving etc. they hunted her like an animal. My fav club during this time was the dub club at the echoplex in echo park it is so good! Echoplex is actually one of the few places from this mid 2000s era that is still open!
What a time to be alive.
I just found you the other day and I CANT stop watching. I’m so glad I was tardy to the party bc now I can binge!! Thanks for your hard work, keep it up!!! I learn new things all the time

dont we all stephanie????? i HATE when celebs air all their dirty laundry in creepy secluded s*x dungeons that we have no access to!!! wheres the fun in that??? the next celeb that overdoses, goes through a religious revelation and airs it all on CNN the next day DEFO has my cult memebership - HANDS DOWN...isnt it crazy how we think alike????
@@POPICANA 😂😂😂😂 couldn’t have said it better myself!!!💕💞💕
I love this video idea, I feel like I'm actually there or reading a pop culture magazine from the 2000s.
‘The midwife to LA’ is a great description
Omg yes I was waiting for Hyde😎😎
Aww the nostalgia I remember watching all the celeb gossip at that time .
I only vaguely remember but I love it 😭
This is literally as if Stefan from SNL had a UA-cam channel and I’m so thankful
No idea Brent Bolthouse co-owned Hyde. No wonder Heidi wanted to be employed by him during The Hills 💀
MY BABY POPICANA IS BACK!
You should do a 90s version of this and cover the Viper room because my mom said that place was iconic in the 90s until that bad thing happened to River Phoenix.
Missed you.💕🤍
missed u 2 richie stephanie!!!! we need to catch up! if only teddys wasn't closed...walmart at 12 do u good???? missed ya! ;D
Definitely need a video of Lindsay and Samantha relationship! It was a Hollywood moment, one of the most talked about couple, very toxic for one another and scandalous.
I used to work in promotions at The Garden of Eden in the early 2000s... L.A.X. & HYDE came out later, I think it was called Shelter
can you do this for celebs in the uk?
I am a young gen Z twink haha. Love your videos.
this was also the Paparazzi Era, and everyone wanted to be photographed at the hot spots, nowadays that's not that relevant
Now that ive seen that clip of Tina calling Paris a granny, i cant unsee it! She DOES look like a granny…
ooo gaulllll...she was calling her a trnnnyyyyyy, not a grannyyyyy!! babes, honest to jesuu, the granny might be u in this situation...but pop off anyway sis! were all gonna be dead soon, at least u probs have the money to spend ur least few years floating off, maybe with a sweet piece of boy toy meat to keep u company...get it girl! XDDD missed ya! ;D
she was calling her a transphobic slur, bestie 😀✋🏽
@@POPICANA not hard to be with a younger man these days.My 56yo mother has men i. Their 20s chase her and no she’s not rich
love the vid but honestly wish you left out the t-word, or at least beeped it. Trans girls don’t deserve to get thrown under the bus like that
@@grahamhunt69 transwomen are catered to like no other. They'll be fine. If they want to be women they'll need to get used to being called words they don't like.
I've always wanted to know about Avalon and Spider the exclusive club within a club inside it.
It even got a shoutout in Christina Aguileras Candyman
10:50 I love that you use a clip with Kim K but call Paris and Lindsey celebrities
carles is that uuuuu...??? babes youre the new hipster runnoff ~ im in fucking awe
We need to bring those times back somehow
Would you be able to do a video for the UK scene?
girl what about the viper room 😔
it good be unique. no story to follow . set back and watch . it funny watching repeat when people playing my past life s,,,,,
I was at club Goa in 2007 when Brody Jenner stole a bottle of alcohol! This culture literally was part of the reason I moved to LA. At the time it was a fantasy land and the party scene was so good! Teddys at the Roosevelt, Hyde, Les Deux, Area. I remember them all. But HYDE reigned supreme. It was the gold standard for the party scene. Everyone at the time was on coke and anorexic it was literally an aesthetic! Good times. Times have definitely changed. These times were way more fun!
Yes that’s exactly how I remember it too! Haha area that’s one of the places I forgot!
I always feel like Lindsay stayed in this era while others has already moved on.
Agh they don't do celebs like that anymore...
❤❤❤
I'm a miserable Millennial born and raised in Brooklyn before it was gentrified. I'm also a history buff going for my masters and looking back at the first 20 years of the 21 century. Though I lived it, hindsight is always 20/20 on a lot of things.
How many of these clubs still exist ?
THAT'S HOT!
00:18 Who is thattt
🖤
13:23 a lot of young Hollywood is young influencers these days makes sense
I'm the second one 🤣
LAX is pronounced el ay ex. not lax.
now it’s like bootsie bellas
grl i dont know what u sayin or where ur coming from....but wherever ur going, btch take me there! miss ya! ;D
14:37 no you won’t 🙏🏾
It’s all about the Abby and saddle ranch now
Speaking of clubs if anyone knows someone who does fake I’d’s I would appreciate it if you can connect them with me pls 😭
hi
hey sissssss!!!! hows it going sis???? miss ya sisss!!!!!! u being pissy today??!!!!!
I see somebody is more of the LiLo team…
That’s Tara Reid outside of the club not Mischa Barton
Litterally
Not me thinking willam beli was in the thumbnail while is just christina-
shady shade
Influencers are not stars or A listers. They're not even close to D list lol why are they in the video?
TRY MAKING A GAGA VIDEO , gaga = VIEWS #facts
Desearia saber ingles para enter todo esto, es el video con toda la cultura de los lugares 2000 que siempre he querido entender, de hecho un poco entiendo pero nada como que el video tuviera subtitulos en español
Do one about the 90s and the viper room. But not about River phoenix…. That story is over played
Not super important, but Jesse McCartney was a teen popstar, not a country idol!👍🏽
Oh God, Britney always had that gross, unkept hair. 🤢🤮
She still does
Oh to go to Hyde and see a skinny 85 pounds idol Nicole Richie passing out, la bella vita
So many weird mispronunciations. So many similar videos.
lmaoooo Jesse McCartney is most definitely not a country singer 💀😂 do better research please lol the inaccuracies are wild
@matt luciani me too lol. hate false info in videos
