The heat spreader covers damn near the *entire* chassis on both sides. The phone itself gets hot, yet the SOC still flies because the heat is spread evenly. I was holding a warm feeling device, yet my SOC and critical components were chilled and running at full clocks.

Imagine if Oneplus let the 12 run as loose as Vivo lets the X100 Pro, letting the phone go higher in temps, it'd be a champ for sure. The temps here matter but shouldn't be used to say "oh this chip is bad and the other is good" because this is the BEST they can do, if someone wants the best of the performance they have to swallow efficiency in terms of thermals and temperatures and I commend Vivo for letting the Dimensity 9300 flex its muscles. It's just as strong as the other, if not stronger, and it's proud of it. Good job Mediatek, Dimensity chips aren't the "cheap way out" anymore.
Waiting for your battery test Nick, would love it if it happened after Xiaomi launched their flagships. Then you'll get the 2 Xiaomi flagships, Oppo Find X7 Ultra, Vivo X100 Pro and maybe the IQOO 12 as well, Oneplus 12, S24 Ultra and the 15 Pro Max. The Oneplus 12R, Oneplus 11 and the S23 Ultra could be included to see how the new ones and a more value focused phone compares. Love your vids!

We all know iPhone always will win the battery drain test .
Xiaomi 14 pro used SD 8 Gen 3 at it's max and just like Vivo X100 (and X100 pro) it also heats up a lot .
I have a question do we really need such powerful processors , I mean it's just unnecessary ( without including ray tracing) nobody uses those applications in daily life and processors like 8+ Gen 1 , SD870 , Dimensity 8100 can handle most of the games and daily life uses perfectly , so why going this far ?
Ohh and Leaks of SD 8 Gen 4 and Dimensity 9400 shows that they have crossed 3 million in Antutu and 10k in Geekbench multi-core! ! Any remark on this.

@@sagnikchatterjee2946 The Honor Magic5 Pro won the last test though, what's your point? Even if iPhones win, I want to see how other manufacturers are doing AND how close they get to the iPhone. Helps stay informed and see how well the software/skin is optimised and how efficient the new chips are.
Yeah the Xiaomi heats up a lot, but only in benchmarks and it also hard clips at some points, Xiaomi is notorious for having awful thermal management. Having heat up messages in the camera app like bruh, fix that sh*t. So yeah Vivo is better in that regard, they let you go all the way.
More power means better longevity, your device will be able to run the same apps in the same or acceptable speeds for longer. More power is necessary for editing, for example photo editing or video editing. Your phone makes use of this power for photos, see how different year over year changes can be in cameras? That's not just because of a different ISP, that's because the processor is more powerful so as to allow the ISP to make use of it more. Think of it this way, a higher peak performance means the middle of the road performance is easily achievable and stable so cameras can use that and so can basic tasks, your phone will use less battery and generate less heat whilst providing better smoothness in tasks. Though this last point is arguable, I'd say photo and video editing are the ones which demand better performance. Most people don't need Pro Maxes or Ultras, they can do with A54s and iPhone 15s but buy just because of marketing. People who use that power will use it regardless. For example loading up external apks. Games can also start to push more in terms of graphics and stuff if CPUs and GPUs improve, Genshin, the current lovechild of every benchmarker is usually played at only 700-950p, whereas the display goes upto 1440p. So in that sense more power definitely is needed. The iPhone 15 Pros played Resident Evil Village with 30 fps and in horrendously low quality, it's playable and looks serviceable but more power is definitely needed. I use an S22 Ultra Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and I can feel its sluggishness, all phones go through it. One can argue it's done by the company using the software I'd say it's a bit of both. I like to take RAW photos and edit and feel like I could do with a lot more power, I don't even dare go start video editing because that's too much for this phone and just barely acceptable on the 8 Gen 3 I'd say. Try encoding a video using x265, you'll see even supercomputers struggle.
The main problem with all this power is the fact that most phones don't have this power and developers target the most common user so they optimise and create apps for the most amount of people. As a result apps don't get to properly utilize this power. Also, the main problem in phones isn't performance, it's thermals. The Xiaomi 13 Pro can play Genshin at 30 fps maxed out in 4K if cooled, that shows how powerful the 8 Gen 2 is and how important cooling is. Phones don't struggle to hit their peak performance once and then go back to normalcy, they struggle to hold that performance. The 8 Gen 4 and Dimensity 9400 hitting such numbers don't excite me. A 3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress Test stability score of 90%+ will excite me, especially if the lowest score is on par with the highest score on the 8 gen 2 at the very least.

My main takeaway is that the iPhone NEEDS a thermal management system. It would’ve been a much different result, especially in Geekbench and Solar Bay, if the iPhone wasn’t throttling so heavily. Interestingly Apple seems to be prioritizing keeping the chassis cool rather than going all-out on benchmark performance, when the device starts to get hot.

    Samsung did good, but:
    1. Set FHD+ instead of QHD+
    2. Optimisation updates coming soon
    3. Many features that can be turned off (That the other phones don't have, so it's still fair)
Also, the *Game* Booster setting only applies to games, as far is i know. In the video it's set to performance, but if performance is a priority, there is a setting in labs, somewhere beneath it that turns off GOS (But performance with GOS on would be a balance of cooling and performance i think), only for games as far as i know.
So for non-game performace, you can go into Device Care, there you have a couple performance options, those would probably make differences in benchmarks.
But i think the update should fix performance, cooling and battery, so maybe the above can stay unchanged.
Those 3 things i mentioned would make the biggest difference in terms of performance (There are probably more things, but these are the most major ones), and i think the S24 Ultra, and really any Samsung, would be a much performing phone.
I'm saying this because I have an S22 Ultra, which people say, has bad bettery/performance/cooling, but really, if you do the 3 things i mentioned, and after some updates, it's very good, no issues at all.
And for the stuff i mentioned, the same applies for the battery tests too, just like the performance tests.
Call me a Samsung fan but there are things that people don't get about Android in general, though, it's kinda Samsung's fault for adding all of these features, it's all a choise.
