I remember my Mom loving his music around 1975. He was on the radio all the time back in the 70’s.
I think his daughter donated one of her kidneys to him a few years before he died.

I met Freddy at the San Diego Airport around 1999-2000. He was waiting for the rest of the band to show up so I had about a 40 minute conversation with him. He was very nice and we talked about riding our Harleys. He talked about his Knucklehead Harley and how he loved to ride it. I was working in law enforcement at the airport at the time when I met him. He was a real down to earth guy and invited me and my fellow officer to be his guest that night at his performance at Pachanga Casino in Temecula. Unfortunately we both had to work early the next day so we just thanked him for his kind offer. Looking back I should had gone even though I would had been tired for work the next day. I missed a once in a lifetime chance. Freddy was much thinner than I had seen him on TV but I did not know he was sick at the time. Sorry that he passed he was a nice guy.

Thank you so much for the tour and remembering Freddie. In the 70's my dad's friend left an 8 track of him in his suburban & I fell in love with his music. I was such a fan my mother drove me from Dallas to Corsicana to see him perform, and I got an autograph with a pen a kept forever. His music always touched my heart❤

thanks for all the good Memories Mr Freddy Fender my father was a gigantic Cuntry Western Fan and i grew up with his music and Charlie Pride playing on every car trip and every repair or project my Father and I worked on together in the Garage we built attached to our family home in South Florida BTW my Father had a nice singing voice and a general love of music when i was a young boy my Dad drove Classic Volkswagen Beetles and everywhere we went he would tap to the music with his left hand and aaron hanging out of the drivers side Window he did that so much on those Beetles that the roof would actually become dented where his fingers tapped on the Roof top above the door

With San Benito being so close to the border that cemetery resembles the ones in Mexico according to videos that I've seen. I didn't think "they" would allow those big head stones that take up so much room here in the United States !! I'd never seen a cemetery like that here.

I do think it has some of the old Mexico traditions in and that you're right about that. I do love that though. It felt really loved and remembered. Can't ask for anything more on a cemetery
