I remember my Mom loving his music around 1975. He was on the radio all the time back in the 70’s. I think his daughter donated one of her kidneys to him a few years before he died.
Thank You so much for sharing, I loved Freddy Fender music. I was fortunate to have met him in Tucson Arizona when he was starting his carrer, he was a GREAT , and he sat at my table and we talked for a little while
I remember my two girlfriends from Corpus Christ, Texas. We skipped school and went to the Airport and met Freddy Fender coming off a flight and I got his autograph for my Mom, she loved his music in the70’s! He was so nice to us and gave me his autograph! Good Times!
I grew up with my parents listening to him, he had quite the voice & hair. Before the next teardrop falls & wasted days & wasted nights were my favorites. Thanks for showing this. So cool.
I met Freddy at the San Diego Airport around 1999-2000. He was waiting for the rest of the band to show up so I had about a 40 minute conversation with him. He was very nice and we talked about riding our Harleys. He talked about his Knucklehead Harley and how he loved to ride it. I was working in law enforcement at the airport at the time when I met him. He was a real down to earth guy and invited me and my fellow officer to be his guest that night at his performance at Pachanga Casino in Temecula. Unfortunately we both had to work early the next day so we just thanked him for his kind offer. Looking back I should had gone even though I would had been tired for work the next day. I missed a once in a lifetime chance. Freddy was much thinner than I had seen him on TV but I did not know he was sick at the time. Sorry that he passed he was a nice guy.
Thank you so much for the tour and remembering Freddie. In the 70's my dad's friend left an 8 track of him in his suburban & I fell in love with his music. I was such a fan my mother drove me from Dallas to Corsicana to see him perform, and I got an autograph with a pen a kept forever. His music always touched my heart❤
