One note is if you plan to remove the rubber cones it's much easier to remove them with the subframe still in the car for 2 reasons. You can use the weight of the car to help compress them and when using the notorious spring compressor you don't have to brace the subframe to stop it twisting when you compress the cones. Very well done video, great camera angles catching all the details which are so often lacking.
Thank you for all your great videos. I have followed and used your expertise to rebuild my 1976 Leyland Mini. I have a issue with tower bolts installation. I have replaced Hi/Los and rubber cones and now i cannot start the tower bolls in the thread. Is there a correct way of installing them. Any help would be appreciated.
do you have a video for removing the steering rack from the sub frame whilst the engine and sub frame is still in the car. or a step by step guide to the steering rack removal ans replacement. Thanks David
again... great video. I have searched for years for a video of how to remove an engine.... please do make one, will help more novice home mechanics like myself.
Just about to remove my subframe and the video was extremely helpful - thank you for this and all of the other videos. (I am a 61 yrs old but a complete beginner on car restoration so need all the help and simple instructions I can find) - just one point though is that you didn’t mention dis one ting the brake lies which on my car are fixed through the sub frame. I will be draining these and disconnecting them first.
Ah yeah, good point about the brake lines, Stephen. Depending on how your lines are run you might get away with just disconnecting the hard line at the junction block where the front lines split to left and right.
Great video..... Am waiting for motor and will assemble transaxle and put most of engine as one unit. Will have to think about how to lift car over the assembly.............any suggestions???
Fred Grey I have installed engines both ways and I find it easier to install the subframe first and put the engine through the top. Last engine I did had it installed in 45 min. Either way works though
Stevestonmotorco haha i use to work in kalavrita ski center at weekends nikon d5500 with a 300mm lens for the skiers and a tokina 11 16 for the close ones. bought a tokina for me next video will be wide angle. good job :D

Very clear instructions take care on the roads in an older car as not everything is easy to check.
On my 63, I just undid the bolts and lines and lifted the body off the engine/sub-frame assembly and rolled it back. Easy Pezy.

Can you provide the dimensions of the plywood you used for the support? Thanks
Hi, do you need to remove the whole subframe to polly bush the rubber seals between the frame and body?

Thanks for the comment. That's actually on our list of future videos so we'll put it out when we get the chance.
A video on replacing the engine mounts would be awesome
Brilliant video guys, saved me a ton of time!
Great to hear
Nice fabrication but will towers not need stiffening up. with your skills you could build up the whole thing well done.
Thanks, good presentation. Is there more about disconnecting the engine from the body?
Great episode 👍👍
Thanks, appreciate the comment

Great video - What about the bend in the tie rod? Is that normal?
Thanks. The tie rods look very straight. Do you mean the tension control rod towards the front? That one is bent badly and needs to be replaced.
Yup sorry - wrong name. Tension rod very out of spec :-0
Hello. Where do I attach the tow bar if needed to use it? Thanks in advance
Could you clarify if you mean a tow bar for towing the car from the wheels, or if you are asking about tow points?
Nice one, good explained. If possible, post more regularly 😉
We will do our best, friend :)

Most was shot with a Canon 10-22mm lens on a crop sensor camera. So it's pretty wide. Good eye!
