i believe the reason frontman went in is because gihun, said in the car something like "i will prove you that the world does not goes your way", challenging frontman's belief about these people. frontman look at them as trash for their greediness and selfishness. and people who tries to help them is the same selfish people who wants to be the hero. so frontman comes in playing the good guy to prove that no matter how good you are, these people will still betray you. he's not trying to level the game because he can change it anytime without entering the field.
It would be interesting if these experiences are starting to change the Frontman’s perspective. The games are obviously larger than him, with a lot of rich elites behind it - so it’s still possible he goes turncoat in S3.

Just finished watching Season 2... that was the most emotional ending to a season ever. Everyone had did their part, and the acting was the most genuine, and authentic its ever been. Season 3 is gonna be awesome, and Gi-Hun is going to be *OUT FOR BLOOD.* in loving memory of Jung Bae.

My man Gi-Hun can't catch a break, first he barely survived the first squid games and killed Sang woo , now he goes back all prepared but gets yet again tricked by an player 001, not to mention now Jung Bae get assasinated infront of him, truly one hell of an example of Murphy's law.

I have a theory that Gihun doesn't trust him and that him building a friendship with 001 was more of a strategical move. When 001 asks Gihun to come with him to the control panel, Gihun says no and that he will take Jungbae with him. Jungbae asks him "Why me?" to which Gihun says "because you're my friend". I thought that hinted at something.

impossible. Towards the end, the guards came into the room from another passage. Meaning even if he'd taken the magazine to them, they still would've ambushed the players from their blind spot
People here that think this rebelion stood a chance are just competely wrong and clueless lol Its obvious the front man instructed the guards not to kill him or the main character. They were just toying with him to make him feel like they had hope and to put on a show for the vips. Notice how at the end when he says ok lets wrap things up a whole new wave of guards come out and it is clear that they never stood a chance to begin with. The only time the guards weren't in on it was at the start entering the player room. U know after seeing him snap the neck and kill the guy and also pushing the other guy out of the way in the third game. I thought it was because he was actually starting to grow attached to the group and his new friends. Similarly to how the old man did in S1 (despite both still being evil) but this proves me wrong. He had no attachments to them and didn’t play the games just to have fun like the old man, he did it just to make sure he could give Gi- Hun hope and torture him. Actually I think that’s the point, here it makes more sense then in most series and movies. The idea isn’t just a matter of breaking Gi-Hun, it’s based on the villains ideology of giving a fair deal. By not killing him, they will have him play the game to win showing their twisted values of fairness and opportunity. Just the idea of him surviving to the end of the game would destroy him, and make everything he fought to stop pointless to begin with.
Honestly, based on the number of people who brought up this theory, it’s way too predictable and will not be a good plot twist. This is what the Front Man has been trying to do throughout the whole season and such an ending will not surprise anyone. I feel like 456 might die while trying to kill the Front Man, or perhaps his brother will do it, but I don’t see Gi-Hun assuming the leadership. He will be too broken for anything at that point and he doesn’t have it in him to kill people for sport
even though i didnt watch the full season 2, i felt emotionally heartbroken seeing his friend gets killed in front of him. he just wants the games to stop and not enter that plane in s1. poor jung-bae, i wanted to see more of him.
It will end the same way Oldboy ended , Oh Dae Su and GI-Hun are basically the same character. Where Oh Dae Su prepared for his revenge for years through shadow boxing while being locked up in a motel, Gi-Hun locked himself up in a motel and started practicing how to use weapons to track down the creators of the game . Oh Dae Su accepted to return back to his life since taking revenge revealed to him a shocking reason and Gi-hun shall reach out a shocking unravel that makes him want to go back to his daughter , he had been warned throughout the season to take the plane and not seek out revenge .Gi-Hun will face the consequences of his actions in front of the players whom their lives got destroyed because of his revolt and he shall return home to see his daughter after asking for his memories to be erased .
Mark my words. Gi Hun will become the new front man. They even teased it when he wore the mask in the end. Even the actor himself pressed both O X button when this question came up in the Fallon interview.
I think the best way to fix this seasons ending was to have the front man reveal his face before he kills jung bae. Would have been much more intense and personal.
In 1st season this front man killed a guard cause dude was breaking the rules by revealed his face to player. By doing that the nearby guards will shoot him down.
They might reference the GRANITE SALT and FELINA finale episodes of Breaking Bad in Season Three, and flesh it out into an full-scale rebellion against Frontman and the organization. We might even get references to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, as well, because it was a rebellion/war movie ccompered to the original Hunger Games movie and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.
Front Man is the main antagonist of the show, he re-joined the game (remember he was one of the winners) to piss Gi-Hun off but he's still playing fairly.

By this point we’ve seen Gi Hun “sacrifice” other players for the “greater good”, he’s shot men down, and witnessed another traumatic death of a friend. He’s going to be on a very dark path in S3 as a broken man
Well, If you ask me... I'll leave this line here. "If you can't beat em, join em." Gi-Hun will join them, to take them down. And also, we never saw much of the men out at sea looking for the Island. That one dude got thrown off the boat, and we never saw them again. They like cut the screen time for those people.
This series is actually deeper than we think. Squid game portraits the effect of capitalism and money(matrix) has in our lives and that people would do literally everything for some printed paper. The rebellion of the players against the rich makers of the game. Think of the players as the people of our world who are being used by the system and controlled by money, the makers as the rich corporations and companies which run the world for their benefit and the guards as the police who would do anything that the one's in control command them and go against the opressed people. The writers want to share a message that we have to stop chasing money and end the cruel capitalism and the only way to do this is by uniting and fighting against the rich rulers. And this rebellion cannot be peaceful. It's the only way to stop this injustice and free the people from the "matrix", the undless cycle of the poor. Think of it
While Gi Hun and Jung Bae were on guard the front man was listening in and realized Jung Bae was a soft spot for Gi Hun. A bit of who Gi Hun was in season 1 came out in that moment.

I have a theory that Gihun doesn't trust him and that him building a friendship with 001 was more of a strategical move. When 001 asks Gihun to come with him to the control panel, Gihun says no and that he will take Jungbae with him. Jungbae asks him "Why me?" to which Gihun says "because you're my friend". I thought that hinted at something.

Its obvious the front man instructed the guards not to kill him or the main character. They were just toying with him to make him feel like they had hope and to put on a show for the vips.
Notice how at the end when he says ok lets wrap things up a whole new wave of guards come out and it is clear that they never stood a chance to begin with.
The only time the guards weren't in on it was at the start entering the player room. I think the front man purposely chose the least skilled guards to go in and made sure there werent so many to put the odds in the rebellions favour
U know after seeing him snap the neck and kill the guy and also pushing the other guy out of the way in the third game. I thought it was because he was actually starting to grow attached to the group and his new friends. Similarly to how the old man did in S1 (despite both still being evil) but this proves me wrong. He had no attachments to them and didn’t play the games just to have fun like the old man, he did it just to make sure he could give Gi- Hun hope and torture him. Actually I think that’s the point, here it makes more sense then in most series and movies. The idea isn’t just a matter of breaking Gi-Hun, it’s based on the villains ideology of giving a fair deal. By not killing him, they will have him play the game to win showing their twisted values of fairness and opportunity.
Just the idea of him surviving to the end of the game would destroy him, and make everything he fought to stop pointless to begin with.

It will end the same way Oldboy ended , Oh Dae Su and GI-Hun are basically the same character. Where Oh Dae Su prepared for his revenge for years through shadow boxing while being locked up in a motel, Gi-Hun locked himself up in a motel and started practicing how to use weapons to track down the creators of the game . Oh Dae Su accepted to return back to his life since taking revenge revealed to him a shocking reason and Gi-hun shall reach out a shocking unravel that makes him want to go back to his daughter , he had been warned throughout the season to take the plane and not seek out revenge .Gi-Hun will face the consequences of his actions in front of the players whom their lives got destroyed because of his revolt and he shall return home to see his daughter after asking for his memories to be erased .

I think the best way to fix this seasons ending was to have the front man reveal his face before he kills jung bae. Would have been much more intense and personal.

The frontman kills Jung Bae similarly to how Hector kills Gus’ friend Max and also how Walter sees Hank die. It’s a direct reference to the show
They might reference the GRANITE SALT and FELINA finale episodes of Breaking Bad in Season Three, and flesh it out into an full-scale rebellion against Frontman and the organization. We might even get references to The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, as well, because it was a rebellion/war movie ccompered to the original Hunger Games movie and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire.

This series is actually deeper than we think. Squid game portraits the effect of capitalism and money(matrix) has in our lives and that people would do literally everything for some printed paper. The rebellion of the players against the rich makers of the game. Think of the players as the people of our world who are being used by the system and controlled by money, the makers as the rich corporations and companies which run the world for their benefit and the guards as the police who would do anything that the one's in control command them and go against the opressed people. The writers want to share a message that we have to stop chasing money and end the cruel capitalism and the only way to do this is by uniting and fighting against the rich rulers. And this rebellion cannot be peaceful. It's the only way to stop this injustice and free the people from the "matrix", the undless cycle of the poor. Think of it
