Gidday blue, just watched this guy on Jeremy wades Dark Waters programe, hes doing a great job, hope hes still going and got support. Long live the Giant Tassie Crayfish.
God bless you guys.. because of you guys we are able to see these majestic creatures...don't know when will people from my country will aware of these things..we must save these highly endangered species.. please
Seeing such a unique, indigenous creature of Tasmania and knowing its struggle to live in a declining environment saddens me...and it's all because of man's encroachment. I'm put off as I read most of the negative comments below. It's this kind of mentality that will cause their extinction.
We need mass public support for the wilderness, the rape and pillage mentality for the sake of making money is immoral. Tourism would be a great insensitive for these places.
Give people a reason to protect them and they will pester politicians until they do something. The average person doesn’t care unless it affects them personally.
Its a freshwater lobster..... That's all it is. Weather its the American crayfish, or an austrailian Tasmanian crawfish. They all have a similar taste due to the minerals in the water.
You are so wrong. I regularly batch red claw crays out of 3 different lakes and they taste totally different out of each lake, I depends on diet ,turbidity ,water temp and ph.
There is just no hope for them anymore. We've basically pasted the point of no return. I'm sorry to say this but its just the truth. Our best bet is to set up a sanctuary so at least some will survive. No matter how hard everyone tries people simply don't care and will continue to destroy everything.
These lobsters/crayfish are NOT endangered. I could go out right now and catch any number. He needs them to be on the endangered list to justify his job. He is lying and we all know he's lying.
Respect to this man. He is really passionate about conservation and I salute him. I hope he gets the support and he is not left alone by the people
Well said brother

Great story & effort to preserve the species.

Sucks they are endangered because they look freakin' delicious. Definitely need to start a giant crawdad farm like asap please.
These things breed REALLY slowly as crayfish go. They breed as slowly as human beings!

Is it wrong that I want them out of the endangered status to eat one?
