Thank you for the excellent tutorial. What does one do if not able to bend Right pinkie finger top knuckle due to old injury..only way it works is bent at knuckle nearest hand with other one straight...could this be a problem or can it be worked around? Grateful to any insights.
Yup, I can agree with all this. For the bow hand I always watch for the pinky and thumb. I tell my students I’m going to be annoying about it haha, but I always explain why it’s important and that helps
I’m a total beginner and I’m closely looking at your videos and also those of Murphey to try to get me off to a good start! Thanks so much!
Sweet! Welcome to the community and hope the videos you find here are helpful 😊
I agree totally with the vertical bow hold. It feels much better. I have very small, weak pinkies, and do exercises to try and strengthen them.
I’m glad it helped you!
This video is super helpful, thanks a lot!
You’re welcome!
Super super super lovely playing Augustine violinist from Malaysia
Thank you for the excellent tutorial.

Thank you! I was wondering why my right thumb hurt so much and why my pinky wouldn’t stay.
You're welcome!

Haha, same. I tell students, “I’ll be a millionaire for every time I mention this to my students” 😂
Help!!! I just bought my violin but when I try to play there is no sound. What’s wrong?
Have you tried putting rosin on the bow? A lot of new violins have bows that aren’t rosined. Give that a try!
