I started hunting last year by myself, and I have learned so much since I found you on UA-cam that has helped tremendously, from bow season to rifle season. I just want to say thank you for your dedication to whitetail hunting, and giving true hunting strategies rather than selling a product. Much appreciated boss!

I kinda thought your tips only work on the best land parcels. But, I own TWELVE ACRES in Calhoun Co. Michigan and tagged out on 2 bucks already. One was my target buck. Back to back hunts!!! I literally hunted the best weather in front and behind a storm. You are one smart hunter. Thanks for all of your efforts sharing the knowledge.

    Jeff,
I recently purchased 4 acres in Michigan. This spring it was vacant farm land.
From what I’ve learned in your videos it appears to be a micro parcel. It’s in 60/40 or 50/50 woods to agricultural area.
I just want to say thanks for your videos. I have made improvements to the land and have a lot of good trail camera action this past week. What you say about the white tail shift (patterns and such) is totally true!
    Thanks,
    Matthew (Ashley’s Husband).

I have been watching you and THP non stop and the thing I hear the most is "hunt the tailend of the front". Had been raining HEAVY, roughly 4-6 inches in two days and it stopped overnight the night before last. Went out yesterday morning (8/27) with the dying wind and killed a decent 8 cruising through after coming off the corn field. Barely an hour in the stand.

Could you please do a video that lays out how you evaluate land? Explain what you look for such as browsing areas, bedding areas, good stand locations, and access routes. If you were looking for property to purchase or better yet public land where you can't modify it, how do you break it down? This would be a good winter /spring video, thanks!

I remember when I first found your channel a couple of seasons ago, I set up your mock scrape and had four mature bucks and a half dozen smaller ones hitting it. I usually try to look for cold fronts and hunt either side of storms too. I would have went out today on Oct 28th but I have family responsibilities and don’t usually get the same day off as my wife.

I made a hard decision about 1 week ago. I took my wife hunting for the second time in her life during our antlerless muzzleloader season here in PA. 445pm I look to the left and there's a doe. My wife stands up extremely nervous with deer fever. Just then, a big, wide, mature 10pt walks up through the drainage and walks up ahead of the doe. I never would have shot at that doe if it was me but it was my wife's first chance to take a deer. My wife looks at me and I just couldn't tell her no... she was so excited. Seeing her take a deer meant more to me that massive buck. I gave her the thumbs up to take the doe. She ended up missing the doe and I don't think the buck will ever be back in that area. He was in 10th gear headed over the ridge. I did try yesterday on a NW wind but it was foggy. Didn't see anything on an evening sit. I may try again if the wind is right again but I'm doubtful.
Thanks to your recommendations I have a few nice points and benches with dropoffs picked out from a topo map. Thanks for all your recommendations! You have a wealth of knowledge!

I heard you talking about lights blowing deer out. Have you ever used a green light?? I swear they can’t see that light. I’ve walked past deer bedded at 20 yards and as long as I’m silent and the wind is in my favor, they let me. I won’t use a white light ever again. Try it as an experiment. You may like it. Ruts close. Good luck.

I look at hourly weather, that way I can see if that low temp is an AM temp or if it's over the following night. I built a spreadsheet where I can track the good weather days, and it does a pretty good job of identifying the good and best weather days. I find that just looking at a High/Low temperature is overly simplistic and could have you in the woods a day too early or a day too late.

I need confirmation on a kill shot that entered and exited the left side. It was on the biggest buck I ever shot with a bow. My theory is that the arrow entered behind the left side rib cage traveled through the cavity and then deflected off of the breastplate causing a one-sided entry exit wound

I’m hunting in southern Maine this season. Any advice for maximizing my chances in a difficult state to hunt whitetail?

Went out on a cold front and had a
non-core buck come in. Sadly I spooked him just the slightest so he stayed out of range but my grandpa smoked him! He was a monster 12!

Is it worth hunting from 8-noon on great percentage days? Im extremely limited on morning hunts but can hunt from 8-12 most days. If hate to miss a chance when bucks are starting to chase doe

Question: does being up north vs. down south (Texas & Oklahoma) change this for bucks?

Can you define the difference between morning stand and evening stand?

    • @JVoss-ny2xg
      @JVoss-ny2xg 3 роки тому +1

Just my 2 cents here, My morning sits are in pinch points/funnels/draws/bottlenecks (pick one) but focusing primarily between food and bedding while trying to get as close to that bedroom as possible and sitting til 1-2pm. Evening for me is on field edges/inside corners while using the cover of darkness to slip out. Access is critical, don't forget that! I've ran deer out of plots or fields in the mornings too many times and I know Jeff has mentioned that as well. Good luck!!

Good video Jeff. What do you think of these digital cameras.I’ve been hunting for 46 years and have watched all these changes year after year something new.I really think these cameras are making it way to easy for a lot of people to get that trophy.I know some get up to 20 if not more cameras. What’s your opinion Jeff.I have always scouted, used scraps and made mock scraps and licking branches.I’m really beginning to think this is going to hurt the true hunting experience.
