    The soft top has a metal insert above your head for hail and gets plenty hot even in extreme cold since its such a small cabin

    test drove one a week ago, i agree, if it had a bit more power, say like 40hp and maybe a 20 more torque it would be absolutely perfect.

    I love my 2021 Club ST. We don’t mind the hump much (but it is annoying) and have taken the car on long road-trips. It’s comfortable enough. The Recaro seats make a huge difference, at least for us. The car handles like a dream. There are ways to add power, but at over 35mpg, it’s a good compromise of power and fuel economy. I would highly recommend the Miata over its competitors as the convertible makes all the difference.

      I like the Miata I think it's a really great car and that's why it's on my shopping list but because I'm at over 6000 FT elevation you kind of feel it's lack of power if I was at sea level I probably wouldn't complain and I know the Miata is more about balance but compared to the competition up here I am wishing that it had a little bit more power I understand the reliability and fuel economy are next to none so yeah it's a great compromise I'm also looking for the next generation anemiata because it may actually add more power and save weight which would be great on both sides.

      @@CruiseControl1 In the end, only can decide what is right for you. One thing I can say is that there are a lot of little mods one can do (soundproofing, seat adjustments, lighting, power/suspension mods) to make the car more refined). Rumors on what may or may not come with future model years are like sports rumors … they are a lot of fun to speculate on, but rarely correct. Good luck with your choice.

    Bought the very same car in March. Was able to get it slightly under MSRP with no dealer add-ons. Only complaint is the info system. Same one that was on my 2015 Mazda 3 GT. Gas mileage is great and the car handles like the 72 MGB I had as a young man. Only this one hasn't left me on the side of the road yet. There is really nothing to compare with this if you are looking for something similar to the feel of the 60-70's British cars, most of which had very low horsepower. My MGB had 100 hp and was the most fun car I have owned up until the MX5.

    I have a 2021 RF and I fully agree with you that it would be a lot more fun with a bit more power. BBR is supposedly working on a turbo that they are releasing in the Fall of 2022. Supposedly adds 60hp and 60lb-ft of torque to the wheels. That would be astounding, but chances are a transmission swap is required for the ND2 Miata. Other than wanting more power, every part of this car is just perfection. I honestly haven't done any performance mods yet, only aesthetic mods. I am wanting to get a GWR Roadstersport Race exhaust though; that sounds amazing!

    Thanks for the video. I just ordered a Miata very much like this one. A club RF. No extra options. In the Platinum. A nice understated color for when I’m caught doing overstated things. I not expecting the car any time soon. I live in the desert SW, so a light color Is important.

      Thank you for your comment and for watching my channel. I lived in the Imperial Valley for 20 years and summers were great 120 in the day and sometimes still 100 at 2am. So I understand having a light color. I owned a 1979 280zx in pearl white blue cloth interior when I was 16 living there. Then I owned a silver 1974 cougar xr7 that was silver with burgundy vinyl interior that burned your butt when you got in. Seriously burned your butt.

    Looks like they changed the interior color seats to not match the dash board as they had in the 21 model. Was hoping to see more of that. Not sure if this is a buyer for me

      I agree. For some reason, Mazda decided NOT to have lower dash panels and side door panels that matched their custom seat color. Inexplicable.

    Not sure it’s accurate to describe it as the 2022 Miata. If you check the build date I’m sure it was built in 2021. I don’t think Mazda in Japan has built the car already this year and shipped it to the US for a review. Great review anyway. But would love verification of when it was built.

    • @CruiseControl1
      @CruiseControl1  2 роки тому +8

      Mazda calls it a 2022 model year, and this color is only available on a 2022 model. Build dates are different than model year.
      Example the 2023 Honda Civic type r is coming out this year in 2022.

    I have driven many different two seater convertibles and the latest ND Miata is the most uncomfortable of all. The windshield is too close to your head, the seats do not recline back enough, the stupid hump on the passenger side floor makes it a horrible experience for the passenger and no glovebox. How is it all the other two seater convertibles get it right and Mazda gets it all wrong with the ND???

    • @CruiseControl1
      @CruiseControl1  2 роки тому +2

      Understandable complaints. I found the seats comfortable though, the windshield was not too close for me, my wife was bothered by that bump on the passenger side though for longer trips. I found the suspension very compliant, shifter very smooth, power delivery very linier, the powered convertible hardtop is a nice touch, really good fuel economy, perfectly balanced, very reliable, both the interior and exterior look great, I liked the heated seats, the color matching from the exterior of the car to the interior door cards are a nice touch, so overall I think Mazda did a great job.

  • @MeredithLawwson

    I hate the color. The color is so dull. A cross btw light beige and pink depending on the light. A very retro color you would find in an old Buick. Nonetheless, I do love the miata rf and the new seat color. I would get it in gray exterior with the same color seats. Sales wont be good in this new color. I can almost guarantee it.

    • @CruiseControl1
      @CruiseControl1  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah the color is not for me. I could see it on an SUV like the upcoming CX-50, just not on the Miata. I would get the dark blue or the soul red crystal. Thank you for your comment and for watching my channel.

    The mx5. Is about 50 hp from being a world class sport car. It’s just too slow. Its2022. And it’s under 200 hp. WTH. Civic r has a 300hp 2.0L S2000 had 240hp. 20 years ago. It has no torque. Put a turbo on it. My old Mazdaspeed Miata had a turbo. It was great. Sold my 2020 club BBR. MAYBE, buy again if they fix the wimpy engine. It’s beautiful, but slow.

      Stopped watching when you started banging on about ‘more horsepower’. As a reviewer you need to understand the philosophy of the MX5. It makes you a better driver. It’s about momentum and engagement. If you want to win drag races, stick with the other mundane marques out there. I’ve owned plenty of high horsepower cars that were great to drive but nowhere near as enjoyable and engaging as my 2020 RFGT.

    • @CruiseControl1
      @CruiseControl1  2 роки тому +1

      That's all true, and yet I want more horsepower. Both of those things can be true. Rumors suggest that the next gen NE Miata will gain about 20hp and tq with the new SkyActive X engine.
