@Lake Hickory Scuba This isnt related to this video but a previous video you had published , you mentioned a website that referenced dive locations depths and temperature would you happen to know what it is off the top of your head thankyou in advance
Hello David Demerly, I apologize in not remembering which reference I made or which video I made it in. With this being said, whenever you plan on diving a new location, a great way to get information on a new site is to contact local divers in that area, or even a local Dive Center, as they will have the best information for new dive sites.
Hello MotoMile Adventures. The small regulator bag that you seen in the video, was an older regulator bag that I have had for years. Mares makes a Cruise Regulator bag that is roughly the same size. lakehickoryscuba.com/products/cruise_reg
Hello Caleb Mcelhaney, great question. Typically, the resorts we stay at will have a rinse tank. On a side note, we only use the Pelican Air's now for travel.
Excellent video. Have you ever had any gear stolen from your checked bag? This is my biggest concern. I'd like to take my gear with me on vacation but am paranoid some of my gear may get "lost". Thanks.
I'm not too comfortable travelling with a bag that is obviously scuba related, much as I like to advertise my hobbies. Mostly concerned about theft... Ever considered taking the BC in the carry-on? For a pool session once I managed to fit snorkelling fins, reg, BP/W, shorty and mask into a 35ltr backpack that I always have as carry-on. It might be useful for saving weight for a heavier suit in the checked bag (7mm or dry) and you may even be able to take a steel plate instead to go with that suit.
Kimon Froussios Thankfully in the last 30 years of being in the industry, I’ve never had any trouble with theft. But I also have travelers insurance to cover me if I ever do.
I'm totally going to buy one of those dive hangers for my motorcycle jacket as it rains a lot where I am and I travel a ton for work. That said, my last dive trip kind of sucked as I rented my gear and it didn't really work for me (I couldn't seem to get the hang of the configuration quickly enough to really feel comfortable). Kind of hoping for a portable solution so I can bring my own stuff (I don't own a car, just a motorcycle, so portable is the name of the game for me).
Although I don't sell Oceanic or Aeris, check out the Oceanic and Aeris Jet Pack. ua-cam.com/video/CZZQOpGn1Yw/v-deo.html. It may be the solution you are looking for, traveling on a motor cycle.
LakeHickoryScuba my issue is I usually dive cold water (bulkier gear generally required). I’m looking into a sport skin (aqualung fusion), you know anybody whose tried one?
ha, I do supermoto and in the winter come home soaking wet from rain rides up in the hills. I also like the idea of scuba hangers for my moto gear. Wow great idea!!!!
Go light. On tropical trips, I take the bare minimum. Usually for a week, I will only take one change of clothes. What I wear down is what I wear back. Several pairs of underwear and socks, two pair of swimming trunks, 2 T-shirt’s, and maybe one pair of Cargo Shorts. I usually have to travel this light because with a wife and 2 daughters, they tend to take the whole house. Vacation trips is all about relaxing, so I have plenty of down time to wash clothes if need be. As far as personal items, like tooth brush, tooth paste, etc., those items I can always purchase once I get to my destination, and don’t have to worry about packing. I will always role up a shirt and pair of shorts and put them in my carry on, just in case my luggage gets lost, I will always have at least one change of clothes. The key is to plan on advanced, and really determine what it is that you need on the trip.
Nice rig - I would have NEVER guessed you were a Mares shop...LOL. They should pay you a royalty. Why is ScubaPro so popular? (I feel they have good quality - I have a MK25-S600) but I feel the quality is not better than others. Especially if you look at the premium price of SP.
Currently the industry leaders for Scuba Gear is Mares and Scuba Pro. The biggest thing that makes something so popular is advertising. Scuba Pro, like PADI understands this, so they rely on advertising to lead the way. Mares, since being acquired by Head Sports has taken the same stance and has really upped their game in advertising. Trust me, I wished they did pay me, for all the advertising I do for them. Truth be told though, I have sold and used all Gear manufactures over the years, and I really do like Mares Gear.
I just feel like I have a TARGET on my back when I walk in a SP shop. For example, I walk in to my LDS for the first time to introduce myself. Plus ask what might be the cost to service and old SEA US Diver reg. and the service tech said "if the reg is pre-2000 it would be at least $400 and 4 weeks time frame. What a bunch of jerks ??? Of course they are a PADI 5 star SP dealer - I should have known better.
I will say this, Scuba Pro does not give any give to its dealers. They can only sell for what the manufacturer tells them they can. With this being said, that’s business though. Scuba Pro does make some awesome gear, I have used it and sold it in the past, for other shops that I have worked for, but I am a small town country boy, Scuba Pro is out of my price range.
@@LakeHickoryScuba Do people like to go with all one brand if buying all new equipment? I try to get each piece that seems best for me. So far its usually a mish mash of brands but i did go with all lightweight and expensive gear, caveat my old car got totalled and i turned the extra money into scuba gear vs blowing it elsewhere. By the way sorry for all the questions I am inundating you over the last couple days. Binge watching your vids. Could you put out about 20 more vids in the next week????
@@DD-xp4ui We are big fans of Mares Equipment, but over the last 30 years I have used all the major manufactures. We just happen to be a Mares Exclusive Shop. We do encourage all divers to dive with the gear that makes them feel the most comfortable.
Nice video! Ive learned a lot. I will pack my bags now in a new way. Did you ever have problems with the MARES sign on the bags? Like the airline wants you to pay the luggage because it is diving equipment? I´ve learned that you're luggage and your clothing style should be a neutral as possible that you don't get into any bad surprises during check-in. Some airline also ask you to pre-announce if you're having sport equipment with you. I really like the big Mares bag and the cruise journey but the logos could make check-in difficult.
Ever since 1950, when Mares was founded by Italian free diving champion Ludovico Mares, the company has been at the forefront of diving technology. His considerable experience as a diver during World War II and his innate manual skill transformed his passion for diving into a leading business that has opened the undersea world to millions of enthusiasts around the globe. So the name's pronounce is not MOIRIS like you always say in your video but MARES a like in arc; and e like in elegant just for your info !!!
Well I have always been told that my Southern Accent messes up words. It's funny to be honest, because all of our employees pronounce it differently, and if you watch Mares UA-cam Channel, they even pronounce it differently video to video. I will state this, if you try to say it underwater, then we all sound the same. Because then all you hear is bubble bubble bubble.
wait, like in mars the planet or do you mean like a horse as in a mare horse? Or like mexican spanish as in Maurez ? theres about 4 ways you can say Mares. Dont forget hes a country boy with an accent :) p.s. I lived in Charlotte N.C. when I was young so just teasing about the country boy
@@LakeHickoryScuba I usually carry my computer and cameras etc., in my personal bag then transfer some of it to my carry on after checking in, problem solved.

That would definitively cause some problems.
