  • The future of broker fees took center stage at City Hall on Wednesday. Dueling rallies were held outside as council members weighed a proposal that would shift the burden of these fees onto the person who hires the broker. FOX 5 NY’s Chris Welch takes a closer look at the arguments both and against the proposal.

Waste of time for landlords to fight this bill. The broker fee is an additional cost but the landlord has certainty through the contract with the broker. Of all the costs landlords incur, a broker fee made in a single payment at the beginning of the lease term would be fairly easy to adjust for over 12 or 24 months. The landlords in NYC should be more concerned about surviving the effects of the good cause eviction act.

Chi Ossé is right. The bill is fair and should be passed.
