Im stuck high plat/low diamond and after watching a lot of mercy gameplay vids im starting to think im the opposite of a healbot T^T i have so much trouble healing because i trust my other support to do it and i get flamed like every game, also amazing video very helpful!!

I'm stuck around there right now too. It's a really hard range to get out of and i think it's because that's where you start to see the distinction between players who have better game sense. (Also, lots of throwers, leavers and smurfs 😭) There's a lot of supports in that range who don't know how to play with a mercy. For example if we queue together and you pick mercy and I pick Ana, I know that you will be with dps for most of the time and I am in charge of keeping tank up.
If you think you're having trouble healing, I would say to pay attention to how your other support heals in the beginning of the game. If they aren't healing enough to let you pocket someone, it's ok to focus more on heals than dmg boost or switch another support who can do more heals. I would also try to pay more attention to your pocket target's health and what's going on around them. Are they shooting? Are they behind cover? Are they ulting? If they die, would it be safe to rez? Once you start training your mind to be more aware and make predictions, you'll find it easier to know when to heal and when to dmg boost. It's a little hard for me to even try to explain because it's almost muscle memory for me now 💀 try to take a look at when I heal/dmg boost. Even I consider myself to be a bit of a healbot at times but I still get around 2.3k dmg amp consistently!
