I don't think so it's not functional enough to do bodybuilding 100%. Especially if he wants to do martial arts he should focus more on the strength and certain compound lifts not isolation. Just my opinion anyway someone who aspires to become a mma fighter.

Is it okay to let go of your breath as you go up from your squat? Or is it better to go all the way up then let the air go out?
Tyler Dao how I look at it is when you watch a martial artist, they release their breath as they are punching, not before or after. Same can be said for lifting weights.
k3V well then I guess I'm doing it the wrong way. Everytime I'm lifting and do quick, deliberate and aggressive breaths as I'm pushing weight up it seems to make my core even tighter. I've always thought that holding your breath is what causes you to pop blood vessels and even get light headed and pass out. But it may be that everyone is different.

S A Get on a 5x5 program. I recommend icf 5x5 or stronglifts 5x5. Make sure you get your form down before trying to do heavy weight. Always remember that the best part of lifting is the journey.
