  • Hey everyone, how's it going? Hopefully better than me, as I've been ill for quite some time! :((
    In this video I announce the next language that I would like to learn starting from this month, and I go on briefly describing the contents you guys can expect to see on my channel in the near future. Hope you enjoy!
    PS: More on this language in the next videos as well...

    You obviously speak near perfect Finnish, but I hope you mention Finnish dialects in your puhekieli/kirjakieli video, it would be interesting to know how well you can understand for example (Finnish) Karelian or Turku or Ostrobothnian dialects/accents.

Sehr beeindruckend.

    Hi @linguaEpassione, as long as I can tell your English and German are perfect (I'm about C1 in English and B2 in German) and people seems to have a really high opinion about your other languages that I don't know.... So... Would you mind doing a quick video on how you learn languages?
    Ty wery much, your language skills are truly impressive! 🙂

    You are such a talent. As a native Finn I must say your finnish pronounciantion is spot on. I was wondering, how long it takes for you to learn a new language? :)

    • @linguaEpassione
      @linguaEpassione  2 роки тому

      Moi Timo, kiitos ja sori että kesti niin kauan... It depends so, so much on the language I'm learning and on what's going on in my life at that particular time. For example now that I have kids and family and two jobs, there's not much room for language learning anymore. This may change again once I have more time for myself (sit ku lapset kasvaa?)

    Let the Georgian fun begin! If I encounter any great resources I'll certainly pass them along, but I see that someone else in the comments may have more valuable input at this juncture. In all honesty, I had to repeat the first minute of your video because I was distracted by the puffin in the background and wondering who in your family loves puffins (my favorite bird, by the way) - haha. Have a great day, Stefano!

    If a competition was held for the language with the most complicated verb, Georgian would undoubtedly win the prize! Its verbs have 4 different stems: one for the present, one for the past, one for the perfect tenses and one for the infinitive. If you know one of them, it is practically impossible to guess the other three, which means that for every verb you learn you'll have to memorize all four! Moreover, verbs are not only conjugated according to the subject as we are used to, but also according to the object. This system reminds me of Hungarian verbs, but it is even more complicated. The chances a foreigner has to become fluent in Georgian are very few. Nevertheless, every language maniac should give it a try. The reason is simple: after getting to know Georgian grammar, all other languages will seem easy! I bet that in a couple of months you'll go back to Mandarin thinking: "How lucky I am to study Mandarin instead of Georgian".

    • @linguaEpassione
      @linguaEpassione  5 років тому +1

      Thanks for the comment and yep, I believe you're right about Georgian verbs! They do look and sound extremely intimidating. Have you learned Georgian yourself? Loved your last sentence btw! =D

      Ho studiato il georgiano per pochi mesi, ma sono consapevole che non sarà incluso nella mia lista delle lingue nel futuro prossimo. La ragione era che volevo includerci un'altra lingua agglutinante, perché è una vergogna che io parli solo una tale lingua (l'ungherese) ad un livello sopportabile. Una volta nel passato ho cercato d'imparare il finlandese, ma ho fallito. Ho anche provato con il giapponese, senza molto successo. Tutte quelle lingue sono l'una più difficile dell'altra. Una lingua relativamente facile, a patto che si limiti a frasi brevi, è il turco. Per anni ero riluttante ad impararlo, perché l'ho sempre visto come "la lingua del nemico". Ma ora vedo che è la mia unica possibilità d'imparare bene una seconda lingua agglutinante.@@linguaEpassione

    Danish, of course 😊- plus the very similar Norwegian and Swedish ( nearly a three for the price of one package 😁) - similar to Icelandic in basic vocabulary in many respects but WITHOUT all the difficult grammatical stuff ( no cases for nouns and their articles ( just as in English!) & verbs that are the same for all grammatical persons ( almost like English now) - and the "same" word order as a basic ( older) English.)
    And with vocabularies that share around 50 % (!) of the basic Germanic ( + Norse ) vocabularies with English - often very similar or just somewhat distorted ( or disguised) along fairly predictable patterns.

    Buon anno nuovo anche a te! Ti auguro buona fortuna per il Georgiano, non so nulla riguardo ad esso ma se è veramente difficile come dici ti servirà un buon incoraggiamento! Personalmente, i miei obbiettivi linguistici per quest'anno sono innanzitutto concentrarmi sulle tre lingue che studio a scuola (inglese, tedesco e spagnolo), in particolare sul tedesco che è una delle mie preferite ma anche la più complessa delle tre. Le altre lingue che sto imparando da solo invece credo ne proseguirò l'apprendimento nel tempo libero, se ne avrò a sufficienza, si intende! :-)
