I order a couple after watching Nick's video. They arrived today and are super fun already. Thanks for a great summary, your instructions were a lot simpler than trying to figure out what the manual really means. Now just have to wait for the NTSC version of the little camera comes back into stock. Too bad the little monitor now seems to be $70 (CDN), maybe a deal will come on.
Done this alot of times. Changed out the motors with higher KV ones.. The flightcontroller/ESC can take a lot of abuse.
I started out with those things.

What was the runtime with the camera attached?
You can take the pcb of a phone connect the camera of the phone to pc with ip and and a small battery to keep the camera working. The additional weight is the pcb and a tine battery
Wonder how the range is with the video transmission before it starts to really break up?
Do you have any suggestions for selecting extra replacement/upgtade batteries?
Finally a budget fpv drone
Depending on your ambient temp and the camera used the heat might (will) loosen the bluetak, also the bluetak can insulate board components from airflow and over heat them. NOT a good idea. I use a tiny plastic baseplate superglued to the PCB edges of the AIO to retain air gaps and then double sided foam tape (industrial strength). Can be lighter, too 🙂
For a drone this size you really don't have to worry about heat. The drone hasn't gotten hot at all, the VTX is on 25mw and generates almost no heat either.
Removing the canopy will help with air flow if anything.

I did it so many times, I threw on some tri-blades and an eachine txo sometime lol. It was such a great beginner fpv drone for me, and I have crashed mine hundreds of times lol , I highly recommend , now I fly regular 5-7” Fpv drones and tinywhoops
can i use 250mW vtx without external battery supply?how long it could go before the juice juns out?is that a good idea?or should i buy a 25mW?

At least 3 min( from my experience) sometimes flight lasts almost 4 or even five minutes, I made the mistake of having a camera that drew way to much power, I soldered the came straight to the drone ! But it’s a good investment, like a gateway drone.

Pardon my newb question but I'd actually like to try my hand at making my first fpv. When I checked your link for the camera, I see it has two wire harnesses, not one (w/2wires) like you had. I'm guessing the 4 wire harness is for audio? Shall I simply un-soldier those 4 wires?
those 4 wires are for camera control I believe. The only wires you really need are the power and ground 👍
Make a video trying to put a elrs receiver on it LOL. I could maybe fit, in with some nano receivers.

its a shame they dont make those anymore, there used to be tons of little toy drones that you can hack and they came with better motors.
these days I guess that e017 is all you get
Great video! I just bought a DJI Avata (my first ever drone) and practice on various "games" on steam on a PS4 controller. I really appreciate you list in the text for all the various gear recommendations. I bought a E017 since I got a tip this was a really good cheap drone to pratice with. Still waiting for it to be delivered. But your video showed a really cool way to step it up.

The E017 is definitely a solid affordable practice drone. add the FPV camera and you've got a pretty quick little FPV drone.
I use a Sony a7iii to film my videos. I was using my iPhone up until a few months ago lol. Glad the video helped! 🤙

my camera is 5g, and it causes the drone to go all the way up, anyway to counteract this?
Adding a 5gram camera won't make your E017 "go all the way up" - UNLESS you have been dumb enough to block the little hole in the barometer unit on the flight board! 😉
Also it would be better to try to center the added weight (or slide the battery back) to equalize the extra load on the motors if you want them to last.

i'm not really sure, there are additional pads on the flight controller so i bet you could solder up an ELRS receiver or something!
